Cool Cruiser

Cool Cruiser (2/15)

  1. 330 days as per HAL: https://www.hollandamerica.com/en/ca/plan-a-cruise/get-ready-for-your-cruise/faq#237:~:text=Confirm your preferred flights as early as 330 days prior to your return or as late as 4 days before departure.
  2. It's actually spelled TuGo. As for your other questions, thankfully I've never had to make a claim so I can't help you there.
  3. Mine were cancelled the day after the announcement was made.
  4. My first Princess cruise was a stateroom right beside the laundry room and I didn't hear a peep in the entire week.
  5. Usually, watch it on the stateroom TV first then report to your muster station.
  6. To directly address the quoted text: It was 2022 Alaska season - I was on one of those cruises. Went on two cruises on the Crown in 2023 and it was fine - those problems were gone then but perhaps in the last 6 months, those problems could've popped up again. But having just crossed the Pacific on HAL Koningsdam (was actually originally booked on the Crown, but that's another story for another day), there were some rough sea days. For me, they were rough, but manageable and it was my first time crossing the Pacific. However, I've experienced rougher waters coming up the west coast and in Alaska.
  7. I know someone jokingly said maybe they're in the Brig but on Friday afternoon, my cabinmate witnessed the aftermath of Meatball leaving "a gift", his owner was desperately trying to get rid of on the Deck 4 forward elevator landing, perhaps they were placed elsewhere. My cabinmate beelined it to Guest Services to complain about it.
  8. I recently received some very nice discounted casino rates for cruises that go well into next year. I am considering booking at least one of them but I have a couple of questions. 1. Is it treated like a typical booking, where I pay a deposit and then pay the remainder 3 months before voyage or do I have to pay it in full at the time of booking? 2. I have a future cruise deposit - will that satisfy the deposit portion or can that not be applied on discounted rates? Thank you in advance.
  9. I've sailed on her 3 times now in the last 2 years and have a future cruise booked with her already. I've never sought out this ship specifically, it just happened to be the ship for all the cruises I wanted to be on. Obviously, it's not so bad that I would say, never again. I'll try to answer some questions (the numbers listed correspond with your numbers - wanted to add that because otherwise it looks like I can't count lol): 1. Can't speak to that because my mattress has always been really good (I've been Inside Plaza deck). 2. The last times I was on (in April and June), Botticelli was open (even though the paperwork said Da Vinci was). 3. My best guess would probably be Botticelli simply because it's the biggest dining room on the ship. Although, I did see a big group of around 15 in Michelangelo's one night. 4. You can get some specialty coffee at Coffee and Cones. 6. Afternoon tea on Sea Days. Those have taken place in Da Vinci's. Get there early because sometimes the lineups are massive. It will be in the Patter and on every cruise I've taken, it's been from 3 - 4 PM. Other thoughts: She's not a bad ship at all. Does it have all the bells and whistles that other Princess I've heard about and seen online? Not really. Could she use a retrofit? Yeah, she's somewhat dated. If you like buffets, you're probably going to be sorely disappointed because the buffet on the Crown is so poorly laid out in my opinion and pales in comparison to what I've seen online to most of the other Princess ships. Some of the food too was such a miss. Like, a roast beef that lacked seasoning or corned beef that was covered in BBQ sauce - that one hurt my heart. Overall, it seems like you're going in with the right attitude and I'm sure you'll have a great time!
  10. I know I'm not the OP, but I too was on this cruise and had reservations for every dining room and of course, perspectives may vary. I had reservations for either 7 PM or 7:40 PM, private table for 2. Botticelli can get really crowded if having to wait because of it's location (aft) so one night, we were halfway up the stairs waiting to get in. Da Vinci's wait wasn't too bad, from what I can recall. I'll admit, the way it worked out reservations wise, we dined there the least. Michelangelo (Deck 5) was typically the quickest, except one night where we were waiting for quite awhile (I think it was they didn't have place settings ready). Also, for us, it was the one dining room we had issues with particularly having our wait staff having to handle a party of 17 (not a typo), which left us basically abandoned (and they didn't get any backup) and also in this dining room, there is one waiter in particular that would literally spend 15 mins talking to a table of regulars while everyone else around them is working and trying to serve patrons.
  11. Had a cabin right next to the laundromat and never heard a thing. Can't even hear machines going standing right outside the door.
  12. The CD Olivia Guthrie just left the ship today. As for her replacement, I don't know his name.

  14. Just got off the Crown as well. Alan was there for the first sea day before he was disembarking at Juneau to go back to work in the UK. We had Alaska-based author Nick Jans come on board at Haines (I think) and he did a couple presentations on the second sea day.
