  1. Debbie and Eric, I am so sorry that your MIL passed away, but thankfully, she didn't linger and is no longer struggling. May she Rest in Peace.🙏 I do so hope that Eric will be able to join you on your cruise. Any and all paperwork and documents can wait until you come home from what I hope will be a relaxing and stress-free time for you both to decompress. When you mentioned that your MIL's papers were under her mattress, reminded me of when Jim's elderly aunt passed away back in the '70's; my MIL found money everywhere hidden in many places, starting with many pocketbooks. I'm talking a lot of money!!😉 Hugs to you both. To Eric's brother, also!
  2. We were just on a 9 night NE/Canada cruise from Cape Liberty on October 29th on Adventure of the Seas.
  3. LOL!! Jim just said that is a good idea..I should've asked him that! Thank you for giving me a true laugh out loud moment just now, Debbie!🥰
  4. I'm sorry to hear this. It was such a long, drawn-out project this past Summer with the guy we used...never again! At least the roof/chimney guy we just hired has called and shown up. There's still hope! I sure hope your concreter follows through on your project.🤞 Thank you so much. This too shall pass...2023 can't come soon enough for us..lol! It looks like you all had a wonderful time on Adventure!🛳️
  5. We were thrilled to see the Volcano on our Hawaiian cruise years ago. The Captain announced about what time we would be passing. Awesome experience! It was at nighttime, and we could see the Lava flowing down the mountain, and see the steam from the lava hitting the Ocean. I was jealous of those with telescopic cameras who were able to take close-up pictures. My camera was somewhat useless...
  6. It will take four or five days. It is definitely a lot more than we expected. We had gotten the inspector through word of mouth. It seems there's a lot he missed. Our daughter's friend also used him...they weren't happy after the fact... It sure is expensive! Way more than what I had hoped it would be for a complete rebuild. I'm also realistic enough to know how building supplies have gone through the roof, and there's 3 or 4 workers involved.
  7. Thanks, Dani. My daughter mentioned a second opinion, but to be honest, they were showing the crumbling pieces as well as the wide cracks. After dealing with the guys who worked on the front of our house this Summer, who never called if they weren't coming, who showed up on occasion, etc. we really like this roofing and chimney guy. He shows up when he says he is, and he calls if they won't be coming. We are just so shocked at the dangerous condition the chimney is in, and of course, what the job will now entail and what the cost has to be. Thanks Bonnie! Insurance work all done, now my daughter will scan and email the volume of papers!🙄
  8. My head is spinning! I finally finished our Travel Insurance papers...our daughter is scanning them so I can email the volume of papers for our claim. Last week we had a shingle replaced on our roof, and we were shown pictures of our chimney that needed to be repaired. We agreed on the price for the top of the chimney to be replaced. When they were going to put the scaffold up, today, we were told how dangerous it was and how our chimney is crumbling...they showed us the pictures....we were not expecting this surprise. It all has to come down...the hits just keep coming with this house. Our contractor asked how long we've been in this house..6 years...he told us that we were "screwed" (his words) by the people we bought it from. He said it has been in bad shape, and the previous owners just had a quick cosmetic stucco job done. 😔
  9. Rocco looks exhausted! Does the Lego Gingerbread house get taken apart and put back in the box each year, or does it stay all together once it's been constructed? I think Ricky hit the jackpot the day he became part of your grandchildren's family!
  10. Sorry your trip home was horrendous, Deb! We left West Hartford around 10:30 am and made it home in the normal 3 and a half hours it usually takes us. I was happily surprised, since it's the end of the Thanksgiving weekend. I have to say though, any time we are heading home from Ct., there's always much more traffic heading North in the opposite direction than us, Absolutely Tappan Zee...never will be Mario Cuomo Bridge in my book! Always, always, always will be the Tappan Zee, Bonnie!😉 We'll be going to dinner with 8 of our dear friends this coming Wednesday! Jim and our daughters had a Wawa Gobbler sandwich the day after Thanksgiving. It consists of turkey, gravy, stuffing, cranberry, and mashed potatoes or sweet potatoes, on a hoagie roll. They said it was delicious!
