Pride has been busy lately, went to Miami for 2 days, then went to HMC for 2 days, then Princess Cays for 2 days, now its back at the GSC anchorage. Hopefully part of that was a crew up

Maybe they were developing protocols and having the crew practice social distancing tendering 🙂

  2. Yes, I had this happen, but it was only having to deal with 4 cruises that were cancelled.  I was missing money, same as you.  I think we had the same Carnival customer service rep.  It was after a round of cancellations that I called and I knew they were probably stressed so I was sure to be as pleasant as possible.  But the person I got was quite condescending right off the bat and I eventually called her out on it.  I'd kept records of everything and had had no money whatsoever refunded from any of them.  It basically came down to me walking her through each and every cruise and payment and total paid for the cruise and then where did all that money/credit applied to the next cruise go.  It took forever but she eventually found the missing money and applied it.  Of course that cruise was cancelled.  Lesson learned, I took the refund that time lol.

Great to hear!  We usually are at the Alchemy bar during sail away but I convinced wifey that we need to be on the Lido this time since we have never cruised out of Baltimore.   We’ll party on the lido for a bit before making our way down to the Alchemy bar to meet our Alchemist for the week!  We will be getting our money’s worth for our Cheers package, as we always do!!

Sailing out of Baltimore is great! First you sail past Fort McHenry, then you go under the Key Bridge - watch out! It looks like you'll hit it but you won't 😉 A short time later, you sail under the Bay Bridge.  Fall/winter sailings out of Baltimore can get a little "rough" meaning you'll feel the ship moving more than you would sailing from Florida.  If you're sensitive to it, take your dramamine. 🙂

  4. I actually like these changes.  I hated getting the chocolate delight because they always put cake crumbles on them, which I can't eat (yay celiac disease...), and I always felt bad at the waste.  I'd try to give them to someone passing in the hallway, but you could definitely see the "who is this stranger trying to give me candy" look in people's eyes lol.  And you can pick up the gifts/pins you'll actually use!

With these changes, you get to keep the perks and they reduce waste, which is better for everyone all around 🙂

  5. I was lucky to get in a cruise in January 2020.  I had a cruise booked for early May 2020 out of New Orleans.  Had booked a hotel, was going to spend a few days in a new city, and the cruise was going to go to a new port for me.  That cruise, of course, was cancelled.  I had one booked for Sept 2020 that was cancelled.  Early in the pandemic, I booked one for February 2021 and rescheduled the May 2020 for May 2021.  Both cancelled.  I need a vacation.

I have one booked for October 2021.  I'm hopeful it will sail 🙂

Yes, for those who are living in LaLaLand.  For everyone else, no.

Maybe those short little cruises will be the test cruises.  They have to start somewhere, and by just going to Half Moon Cay, they don't have to worry about outbreaks in a port, people walking away from the cruise sponsored excursions, etc.  That actually seems like a good place to start because except for the few people who live there, it's really just like being on the ship when it comes to possible exposure/transmission of covid.

Checked mine, no offers for me except for balance transfers. Darn!

I have no offers at all, not even for balance transfers.  But we use our card pretty regularly and pay it off each month. I wonder if those point multiplier offers are for people who aren't using their card very much or usually carry a balance.  I'm sure Barclay's would like people to use their cards a little more in the hopes of earning money off the interest!

As of right now they are allowing you to move your cruise 1x with no penalty.  Our Feb 2021 cruise had a final payment date of 11/23/20.  On 11/21 I got ahold of our PVP and moved our cruise (and my Mom's who was booked at the same time) to the same ship/same itinerary Feb 2022 and there were no charges and no penalties.  We didn't get the same cabins (we had Havana Cabanas and had to go to reg balcony rooms) but we will still be on a ship in a year.  Since we moved the cruise out a year it pushed out our final payment date a year also, so we are taking our cruise money and going to Cancun for 5 days this Feb instead

Are they allowing you to move while keeping the OBC offered from a previous cancelled cruise? We had a May 2020 cruise cancelled, rebooked for May 2021 with $300 OBC (it was only a 5 day that was cancelled in May 2020).  I called today to see about moving the May 2021 to May 2022, but they said we'd lose the OBC.  Not sure if that is policy, or if I need to call until I find someone who will transfer the OBC too.

Well, they will have to block cabins in order to reduce capacity.  Anyway, I was just throwing out that there are options.  Even though Carnival may have cruises with reduced capacity and crew members, it is also possible that they can keep their level of good service.  Maybe they won't, but maybe they will.  I am sure there are a thousand reasons why something can't be done, but there only needs to be one solution to make it so that it can be done.

If Carnival is blocking cabins to reduce capacity, they aren't doing a very good job of it.  I have a cruise booked on the Pride Feb 2021 and every single cabin around mine is available for booking.

  10. My May 15, 2021 Horizon cruise is gone from my manager - even when I try to add it back manually, it won't let me.  May 1, 2021 is still on Carnival's website, but the rest of May is gone, and June, July, Aug, and Sept are blocked on the website.  October onwards is available.

Is there a "dancing of the ships" I haven't heard about?

  11. I work from home so I'm not worried about having to quarantine for 14 days after I get back.  However, I am worried that if there is an outbreak on the ship, that they won't let passengers leave the ship (meaning, they quarantine the entire ship on the ship once it gets back to port).  I can work from home, I can't work from the ship!

You'll have to worry about the scenario that if there is an outbreak on the ship, and they quarantine the ship for 2-3 weeks, then let you leave, you have another 2 weeks of quarantine back at home. That's 5-6 weeks from work, if you include your actual week of vacation.  I'm not sure any boss would be happy with an employee missing 5-6 weeks because of a vacation.

The Pride and the Glory are waiting their turns to go into the Curacao port.  I am hoping they are there to pick up what was removed for Fantasy and Inspiration.  If you look around on tracking sites, the Caribbean Princess and Coral Princess have been steaming around the ABC islands for a little while now, too.  Probably waiting their turns.

I knew that the Pride was headed to Curacao and when I heard about the Fantasy happenings in Curacao, my first thoughts were "Please don't let the Pride be getting the Fantasy treatment!"
