Gee, guess I should have waited.

    I cancelled Monday Online.

On Tuesday, I called Carnival and rebooked another 7 day cruise, using my FCC from my March 29th 2020 (7 Day Cruise).

No $600 OBC was offered at that time ...

    ☹️☹️

Welcome to my world. I was booked on the inaugural Mardi Gras out of Copenhagen. It got to the point where I needed to book airline fare, but I was worried about the ship being completed on time (there were rumors) and having booked nonrefundable airfare. So I cancelled and booked a cruise in May.  Not even a week later, they cancelled the inaugural Mardi Gras sailing and offered the 25% FCC.  So I lost the $50/pp change fee AND the FCC.  It is what it is lol

Now I'm worried that the May cruise out of New Orleans will get cancelled... but lesson learned, and this time, I'm waiting for Carnival to cancel it 😝

I am sure I'll get a cruise refund but the plane tickets are a wash, $600 down the drain. We have already changed flights once when Baltimore closed, that was our freebie. Plus two hotel nights that were nonrefundable.

Keep checking back. I have two nights non-refundable for the Marriott in NO for our May cruise.  Today, they finally updated the COVID-19 policy to allow for cancellations without fees. Your hotel might update their policy as this continues on into April.

We are looking at making our first investment purchase with some CCL stocks.  Can someone suggest the best site to do so for first timers. TIA

I believe a lot of people use RobinHood.  I had an Ally savings account and opened up an investment account there.  Your bank may also offer investment accounts with no fees for trades.

So what if one person in a cabin has a health condition and has to cancel, but the other person still wants to go on the cruise solo?

Any idea how Carnival handles that?

I imagine you would have to pay the single solo rate (ie, double per person fare). It's really no different than if someone decided to book a solo cruise right now - they'd pay for the cabin, not half a cabin.

  5. I'm looking at a cruise and came across the dry dock schedule for 2020. The cruise I'm looking at would be the last cruise before the ship goes into dry dock.  Are there any drawbacks to cruising the last cruise before a dry dock? I'd hate to book it and the ship just be horrible (lack of being well kept knowing it's going into dry dock or work already starting) or the crew not care (if a good number of them are changing contracts or ships).

Tell me your experiences, good or bad!

Edit: well the information I came across was out of date, no dry dock scheduled! It would still be interesting to hear the experience of others, just in case I ever find myself in that situation lol

I think most stewards these days won't even offer both as an option when they talk to you about it, but it's still available if you want it. Since they have an increased workload now, I think they somewhat sneakily offer one or the other in hopes that the guest doesn't realize both are still an option. Obviously Carnival doesn't mind that they do it because they've been doing it ever since the policy changed 2-3 years ago.

I am just off the Pride. My room steward asked me which I wanted and presented to me a notepad that had morning, evening, or both clearly as options. I checked morning, but asked if it was possible to get ice in the evening. She asked what time I wanted ice and in the few milliseconds it took me to think about my dinner time versus what time I might want ice, she said "Why don't I just do both?" So I got both 🤷‍♀️

  7. I just came back from the Pride and did the open bar version of this.  It's about a 20-30 minute ride to the beach, they do a little orientation when you get off the bus, then you pick your chair and they'll set up an umbrella.  I was on the first bus from Carnival so got a little more time on the beach.  It's a nice way to spend a couple of hours.  There were several different groups on the bus as identified by the wristbands.  I assume the one you are looking for were those with the "Access Only" bands. Not sure how much they paid.

According to Google Maps it is 13-14 minutes (10-12 miles) from Baltimore Cruise Port to BWI.  Port of Baltimore is listed as similar distance but about 25 minutes.  I'm not sure why taxi's/uber would take so much longer unless you have to wait for them to arrive.

OP - as others have stated the Pride returns later than many ships and sometimes has a late arrival, which is why a later flight is advised.

13-14 minutes is without traffic. Road crews typically use the weekend to clean out the drains along 295 and more often than not, there is traffic due to a wreck or because it's blocked off down to one lane.  As someone who lives in and drives through this area, if I had a flight out of BWI, I would give 1 hour of travel time.  If I hit no traffic and get to the airport in 15 minutes, great! If I hit traffic, at least I'm not stuck in traffic panicking about my flight.  But that's me 🙂

And as others have stated, the Pride can be late getting back into port, but I feel like she's always gotten in earlier than stated on all my cruises.  If you have TSA precheck, that only helps you a little because everyone and their mother has precheck around here, so don't plan on flying through security (no pun intended lol)

With all that said, I would actually feel pretty comfortable booking at 1:15 flight out of Baltimore.

My current favorite drink. The only thing that stinks is I’ve never been able to get it at any bars other than Havana....really missed them on the breeze last summer. 🙂

Since the sort-of recipe is posted above, I wonder if Alchemy could make one up!

Yes it would but I was just making a point that just because somebody shows up with proof that they had ten doesn't mean that they didn't have fifteen.  Was the person close to being intoxicated and never kept the  last five receipts?

In theory, the ship could then pull up info on the other five (date, time, place) and check the security footage to see if it was really you purchasing those other five.

  11. FYI, I reached out to Carnival on a popular social media site as to the dimensions of the Havana pool on the Mardi Gras.  I was informed that the 'pool' will be 3ft3in deep.  The remaining dimensions were unknown.

The OP here. Just to set the record straight I said absolutely nothing about Guy's needing to cater to vegetarians. All I did was ask if there's any animal fat in the fry oil.    Catering to vegetarians is something that just seemed to evolve in the course of the thread.

You're right, that was a different poster, sorry!

It is possible you missed this is a venue that specializes and serves beef burgers which means meat is at the forefront.  There are other areas which will have vegetarian options available.

I have celiac disease, and just got off of a cruise where I ate at Guy's twice - they OFFER a gluten free bun, and each time, I REQUESTED a gluten free bun.  It's not the best gluten free bun and they'd do a lot better just to carry some frozen UDI's buns but you don't see me requesting an UDI's bun.  Why? Because they don't offer it.

At just about any restaurant you go to, you can customize your food - at Burger King, hold the mayo. At a steak restaurant - cook it medium.  At Chick-fil-a - crispy chicken sandwich rather than grilled.  You can request these options because it's what the restaurant offers.

While I agree that OP is a bit entitled to suggest that they should cater to vegetarians and offer just as many options, if Guy's OFFERS a veggie burger, why shouldn't a vegetarian be able to REQUEST one?

  14. Or even something like what I just saw on the Sunrise on Serenity. I forget exactly what they called it, a splash pool or something, but it was raised, about the size of a hot tub, with bubbles, but not heated.

  15. I'm not expecting the Havana pool to be more than a couple of inches deep and more like a cool off area  similar to how the current Havana area is set up under the little huts - shady area with a couple of inches of water.  I imagine this area is like the current deck 5 promenade on the Vista, it's an outcrop over the lifeboats.
