  1. We're 3 weeks out and our aft balcony (we have 3 of them) just dropped 420.00pp!! I called last night, knowing the answer was probably not going to be what I wanted to hear - after ONE HOUR on hold I was offered to be upgraded to an M3, which:

    1. We don't want to move as there are other cabins in our family group in the very near vicinity of our afts what chose rooms because of our location.

    2. Two of our aft cabins also have an adjacent insides for their kids (20, 20, 17, 15), and there aren't any insides near the M3s available.

    3. Even if we would be willing to move, the M3s that are available are not in a location we'd would want anyway, plus again.. no insides available.

    4. We booked over a year before specifically to select our 3 afts together with adjacent insides - again.. we have no desire to upgrade.

Now I know we wouldn't receive credit for the full 840.00 per cabin (but hell.. thats ALOT of money!), but the rep I talked to wasn't very compassionate at all. I never once said, or assumed we'd get a full dollar obc. But given the circumstances that we can't move away from our insides with minors.. toss us a bone.. a dinner... wine.. something?

My only experience with post final payment drops is with Carnival, who up until 2 weeks to sailing gives you 100% in obc.

That's my rant for the day... let the flaming begin. :(

  2. Thanks for the review - very informative. We usually like to dine around 8:00 when cruising and we like having a structured dining time where you don't have to worry if a table is available; this is our table, our waitstaff, etc. I think that will be the one thing that will take getting used to with NCL. We also are usually between 8-12 people - its the one time of day that we know the entire family will be together. Fingers-crossed we find our rhythm with freestyle.

  3. Just got off the Breakaway on Sunday. What a wonderful cruise. Found a best kept secret in Bermuda. Either take the red train or ask a taxi to take you to Daniels Head Beach (part of the 9 beaches). Beautiful beach, with very few people. They have a snack shop and places to rent chairs/equipment, etc. I don't think this will be a secret for long!!!

Train? I thought I had it all figured out - passes.. ferry.. pink buses... now there's red trains?

Could you tell me more about the train? Honestly never heard of it.

  4. Judging by whatever pattern may be forming the last few months, I should expect starboard for our 7/20 sailing.... and then maybe I'll be surprised at it won't be :p

Their weather today looks like ours - overcast with possible rain.

  5. We have three aft balconies, also on deck 11 for our cruise in a few weeks. I know I read a few times about being able to hear the music at the H2O parties - it ranged from we couldn't sleep (usually deck 14) to mild bass thump (deck 12 I think).. I figured by deck 11 maybe we wouldn't really notice. We'll probably be up there with the party, or at least pooped out zzzzz so maybe we won't hear it...much. But I know the sound you mean... and it can be annoying.

Maybe we'll just have to get a good nap in during the day, so we can party on our balcony until after the music stops

  6. I am concerned about getting bored on sea days. This will be my first cruise. What do you do besides lay around the pool? We are going NCL.

My very first cruise I felt the same way - we sailed out of NY on a Sunday and our first port was San Juan, arriving Wed afternoon. THREE full sea days - I thought I'd be staring at the coastline wishing for three days to hurry up!! Boy was I wrong.. I LOVED the sea days. There's tons to do (or not), you'll find your groove. You may even find that you really do like just hanging out by the pool. Initially my husband was anti-cruise, thought he'd be bored.. "not gonna lay around in the sun all day" kinda attitude.

I think he loved it more than I did

  7. My husband always says I make too many plans each year with only three days to do it in. That's why we keep going back to do the things that we didn't get to do.

That's what I figure... although we have three days to see Bermuda, I want to make the most of the time. Horseshoe Bay for sure; probably day one (weather permitting), my husband will tolerate one beach day - he much prefers site-seeing. He'll enjoy the museum I'm sure. Also we're traveling with a group of 25 family/friends. We will NOT be moving as one unit - everyone is on their own!!

We'll go with the flow for the most part, but... I do like having some sort of a plan ;)

  8. Aside from possibly bringing a certain favorite wine that perhaps NCL doesn't stock, wouldn't it be less of a hassle to buy NCL's Vivo Vino wine package (or whatever it's called), and maybe even cheaper in the long run than having to buy the wine, pay 15.00 per bottle corkage fee.. and then have the aggravation of storing and carrying around a case of wine until you get to your cabin?

I for one vote for less hassle ;)

  9. My PCC should be called My Last Nerve Specialist, because that's what he's gettin on... my last nerve! This guy never returns calls... and takes days (like 3 or 4) to respond to an email. By the time he does, I have another question, which again.. he won't respond to unless I email him twice again. We finally gave up on him and called the regular NCL # and spoke with someone else, and that person didn't understand why he wasn't responding, so she got in touch with him for us, and THEN he returned our call. After all that, he didn't have the answer to our question and was going to "find out and get back to us".. that was 4 days ago!

He sure was around when we were first booking 12 cabins.. ohhh then he picked up on the first ring.

Sorry to hijack your thread, but I needed to get that off my chest ;)

  10. I'm just in love with how many folks from our sailing have posed reviews.

Every Sun when the Breakaway returns, and begin to start looking for reviews; they've been very few and far between over the last few weeks - but this week :D it's like Reviewapalooza! Thank you everyone for taking the time to do it - it's so very appreciated.

  11. I see Dawn is starboard again this week.. will our lovely Breakaway follow suit again? I'm beginning to think they know we're stalking them each week, and are just messing with us now - I wonder if Vegas is keeping odds on it as well ;)

  12. We booked with PVP - we're 11 cabins with 25 fares, and we've accumulated a 125.00 per cabin "group" credit which is listed as a "gift" on our vacation summary, under the name of the first person listed in the cabin. Also, depending on the type of room booked, each cabin has a promo credit which is listed as "OBC".

Given the varying answers to my original question, I'm assuming the cabin promo "OBC" will be divided equally at check-in, but the group "gift" credit that is listed under the first passengers name, will have to be dealt with at guest services with a form. Possibly... maybe

    Thanks :)

  13. Though I've never been - many seasoned cruisers will put their nose in the air when considering Nassau/Bahamas when choosing a cruise port. Some say they wouldn't bother getting off the ship; so with that in mind the ship becomes an important part of the decision.

You didn't state it, but if you've never cruised before, you'd really have nothing to compare it too - if you have, and both of these ships are leaving from and going to the same place.. I would chose Breakaway.

  14. For our upcoming cruise many of the cabins in our group have accumulated OBC for a variety of reasons; early booking promo, cabin type, price drops, etc. On the documents for my cabin, it lists the OBC under hubby's name. This is not a problem as we'll be sharing expense acct/credit card.

But for those sharing cabins with friends (like my son) and will be keeping their on-board accounts separately, is the OBC they've accumulated as a cabin, distributed evenly amongst the people in the cabin? When we sailed on Carnival we had the same situation, and anytime OBC was added, it was automatically divided evenly between those in the cabin - I noticed on the edocs, NCL lists it all under the person whose name is the first to appear on the booking.

Will it be evenly divided automatically, or is this something we have to deal with once on board?
