  1. NYC skyline is port side, and the Statue of Liberty is starboard - but as the other poster said you'll want to be topside for the sail away so you get the full effect...especially going under the bridge. I was surprised at how long it took to get down the Hudson...depending on how many ships are sailing that day, it could take 45 minutes to an hour.

  2. I've cruised into San Juan twice, and they were on the same timezone as the ship, which was on eastern time. Now both times it was during the month of July - not sure if they adjust their clocks twice a year like the U.S. does, but it was the same on the ship and off.

Perhaps your excursion vendor is taking into consideration that even though your ship is docking at 3:00, it will take some time to disembark, which is why they're giving you a 4:00 meet time. I do remember that it seemed to take longer in San Juan than our other ports - I always attributed it to being our first port of call and that everyone was anxious to get off.

  3. Usually we hang around the atrium with a tropical vacation'y drink and people watch. We tend to stay away from the masses (pool deck and buffet) until after we can get into our cabins and deposit our carry-on stuff. The plan for our next cruise (Breakaway) is to have very little to carry so we can explore the ship a bit before sail away.

  4. If you haven't you should really add this review onto cruise critic's site? I'm sure a lot of people would find it extremely valuable ... on top of having many more people finding it. That's where I found a lot of the Breakaway reviews as opposed to looking into individual roll call forums. Just a thought.

See... now I always look HERE for reviews first. Something about having usually chatted and posted with the person doing the reviewing beforehand. I do occasionally read the "member" section, but I like being able to ask a question if need be.

However both are very appreciated and helpful :)

  5. YAY!! Great review and photos, and thanks for taking the ones on either side of your cabin:) I followed along with my minds-eye from the description of your journey to the port - we don't live far from the Bear Mountain Bridge, on the east side of the Hudson.

It's a little sad to see such obvious wear and tear so soon, but there's been a lot of folks on board since the first sailing, so I guess it could be expected, but I hope they keep after it. I'm definitely going to be checking under the bed;) Maybe the shoes were a birthday present LOL Happy Birthday and congrats!!

  6. Unless plans change, I'll be covering AFT cabin 11312 come the end of August with pics and general comments Vicki. ;)

Peek your camera lens around the railing to snap a pic of our balcony - kidding..maybe ;)

I'll be on the lookout for your pics and comments for sure.

  7. On our family cruise next July we have 3 afts - 11310, 11312 and 11314.

Our cabin in 11310, which on the deck plan has some strange little cut-outs which I can't figure out.

Wishing people would come back and post more photos - but I guess once you've returned from your cruise you're too busy getting your land-legs back and planning your next cruise to show us your aft! ;)
