  1. Seems like they have stopped now. I hope it isn't another whale.

I damn near spit coffee all over my laptop ;)

So excited! We are now officially in the single digit weeks - NINE more round trips until it's my turn :D

  2. It was Carnival; July 2012 - as previously mentioned, 2 bottles are allowed per passenger 21+ in carry-on, no corkage fee unless opened by your waitstaff in the MDR, then the fee was 10.00.

In the past two years that may have changed as well.

  3. My original question was to give information to the wine drinkers in our group - previous cruises (not NCL) each passenger 21 and over was able to carry on (2) bottles of wine with no corkage fee. Technically, if the wine was brought to the MDR and uncorked there, they could've charged a 10.00 (at the time) corkage fee, but we never had that happen.

The NCL price list is inflated compared to local shelf prices, but it does save the lugging of bottles, plus the additional 15.00 fee. I personally wouldn't bother, and I'd just buy a bottle at a time for dinner if I was so inclined - I think the Viva Vino package is the way to go for them for sure. I'm all for less hassle and lugging

  4. Is this something that is selected once you're onboard? I don't mean the C&C or the UBP - what I'm looking for is the package where you select a certain number of bottles for one flat fee.

I did try to do a search before asking, but I did not see what I was looking for.

    Thanks in advance,

    Vicki

  5. Update to the "price dropped 230.00pp two days after final" for the 6 BCs in our group for our July Breakaway sailing. The group coordinator called those affected and have upgraded those 6 cabins to MBs; which by the way are currently priced 30.00pp less than the original BC. The new cabins are in a much better location, and with slightly more elbow room, everyone is happy.

Our three B1s had a drop prior to final and have held steady since, but there are still quite a few left. Those of us in the aft chose these cabins specifically, and have 3 insides right nearby for the 17-20yr olds, so even in the event they would upgrade us, it's very unlikely we'd want to move anyway.

    The End :)

  6. Just know that if you are docked port side, the balcony will have sun all day!

That might be ok as we're already assuming that we'll never get a deck chair ;) so we'll have to lie out on our balcony. Truthfully, it could dock sideways and I would be happy... been planning for over a year and I am so EXCITED!!!

Has anyone posted dailies from the first Bermuda run last week?

  7. Would it be considered a little nuts that I have a spreadsheet to keep track of the docking position each week?

I'm actually hoping for a BA port side docking so our aft cabins face the Summit - of course I could change my mind at any given moment :p

  8. I certainly didn't mean to cause such a heated debate on price drops after final payment. I was looking at prices because there are still some friends who are thinking of booking, so as I was looking at rates for them, that is when I noticed a significant drop only two days after final payment. Do we feel entitled to receive the drop.. no - do we feel annoyed that it happened only two days later.. yeah. And those whose cabins are affected by this drop have absolutely contacted their PCP - and now we are a week later and he has yet to call or email anyone back. THAT to me is more annoying than the money.

  9. Sounds like the perfect balance of great service, good food, terrific staff, and the right balance of rest and relaxation. I'm relaxed just reading it.. I can practically hear the sound of the ship cutting through the crystal, aqua waters... ahhhhh ;)

  10. my cruise dropped in price by about $400..i wish ncl can give me a credit for it..kinda of sucks that i sail in 20 days :(

Kinda what I like about Carnival - you can get price drops up until two days prior to sailing when you book their Early Saver rate (deposit is non-refundable), and we always had a nice chunk of OBC by the time we've sailed.

This past Tues was our Breakaway pay-in-full date - there are 6 BC cabins in our group that dropped 230.00pp two days later on Thurs... I think that kinda sucks. We're in a B1, and thankfully our price drop happened prior to final pyt. The others have called our PCC and he's been MIA ever since final pyt. Even if he can't offer compensation, at least call your customers back.

  11. I' m new to NCL and don't understand why not use a TA?

I've never use a TA for anything that I could simply do myself. First cruise we went on we didn't know any better and used a local TA - very nice woman, but she didn't do anything extra special for us other than be the payment intermediary. Second cruise (identical to the first) we just booked direct with the cruiseline, and by obsessively watching for price drops etc., we accumulated quite a bit of OBC. Not a dime when using TA. For me it literally paid to be in control of my own reservations.

  12. This past Monday was our final payment date - we have 12 cabins w/ 25 fares. More than half of us reached our PCC throughout the day with no problem. A few paid online, but my niece whose family has two of the cabins tried to reach him via phone and email. She asked that he call her back so she could make payment- it was like he vanished off the face of the earth. She definitely had the correct # and the hours he could be reached; I also tried because I couldn't believe she was having so much trouble reaching him. In fact when I spoke with him when I made my payment, I told him she'd be calling him later and he said great. She left messages and waited until 8pm, but never heard back. Finally she just called the general # and made payment with another rep. Our PCC never called her back, not even the next day which I thought wasn't very professional. Even if he saw that she had paid, he still should've reached out to return her call.
