Awww, I hope that person will be okay and back to enjoying their vacation soon :(
-
This will now become my Wed morning and Fri afternoon ritual - watching arrivals and departures and counting each week until it's my turn :D

Robin... you beat me to it! :p
I woke up this morning and the first thing I thought to do was look to see what side they were docked in Bermuda. We sail two weeks after you... you'd think we were counting the days or something ;) We have aft balconies - I still haven't decided if I prefer to face the Summit, or the water. At least if we face the Summit we can people watch, especially if we're aft to aft.

11 for me :)

Ta-da!!!

Its still on, you just need to refresh, I was hoping that the PTZ Port of NY cam would swing around, but no such luck yet!
I KNOW!! This would've been a great time to have it up and running... or I should say.. AIMED at the Breakaway.

Two years ago when coming into the Harbor on the Carnival Miracle, it was a very windy day and the river was pretty choppy. We made two attempts to turn to pull into the pier slip, but the wind and the current kept swinging the aft end in to soon, and we were very close to hitting the Intrepid dock. We were starboard aft so we had a great view from our balcony - it took two tug boats to get between the Miracle and the dock and push the ship out so that it could straighten into the slip. This pic was early in the process with only one tug.. it took two to hold her steady - there was a third on it's way. You can see how close we are to the dock.. the whole maneuver took over an hour to complete.

Here ya go! :)

We're on the other side of the aft in 11310, 11312 and 11314 - I don't have the link available right now, but search YouTube for video of cabin 11312; they give a pretty good view of inside and out of cabin and balcony.

First cruise 2010 Carnival Miracle (loved it!), but...I was so focused on making sure to have enough bathing suits and dresses for dinner; clothing that I really don't use much in my everyday life, that I totally did not bring enough regular clothes. I guess I was thinking I'd be at the pool all day until it was time for dinner...? That never happened, and as a result I didn't have enough "roam around the ship" stuff..like t'shirts and shorts. I ended up having to do laundry by midweek. Everyone always talks about over-packing...I completely under packed for sure. Second cruise I did much better :)

By the way my header should read 4-5 thru 4-14!!
I figured as much, or thought maybe, perhaps you were Back from the Future ;)

Lady Liberty and Ellis Island to your right, and the beautiful, albeit forever changed, NYC skyline to the left - it's definitely a top-side moment in my opinion - and being up there, and going under the Verazzano  is a must!

This was from July 2010 - we were the second of three ships to pull out of port that day (Glory, Miracle, Veendam). I checked the time stamp on the photo and it says 5:20pm, and as you can see, we were still a ways from being right in front of the Statue - I may have even been zoomed in a little. The summer months there are a lot of sail boats and such in the harbor.
-
Yeah...30-40 minutes depending on the time of year, and how much Hudson River boat traffic there is. Each time we sailed we were the second ship to leave the pier. It seems endless sometimes - I don't feel like we're really on our way until we're under the Verrazano ;)

Our B1 dropped 130.00pp for our 7/20 Breakaway sailing - we have 3 B1s in a row so we're taking the drop in fare and staying put. There are a few other B1s still available, I'm curious to see what happens to the price after we make final payment. The BCs have dropped 210.00pp. That's one of the things I do like about Carnival - any price drop prior to final payment you get reduced fare - but drops after final payment you get OBC for full difference, I'm sure someone will correct me if I'm mistaken, but I don't believe that is the case with NCL?
-
Approx 4:00 - it takes about an hour for it to get down the Hudson to lower Manhattan and under the Verazzano Bridge.
-
Here's a video of your cabin - found it when I was looking for info on our cabin which is next door in 11310; we actually have three B1's in a row, with your cabin being the one in the middle
-
Docking is like a box of chocolates... ya never know which way you're gonna get ;)
-
I personally would love this. We'll be sailing NCL for the first time as well and we've always loved having a set dining time of 8:00, where we know our table and our wait staff. I realize that it's unlikely we'd have the same table every evening, but I like the idea that we could prearrange the time Also, we're always a big group of 10+ at dinner - this time we are likely to be more than that.
-
**note to self...stay on Breakaway until the last possible moment this July. Why rush to get off the ship anyway?**
Well just allow room for me to get on :D I do believe I'm on the sailing after you.

I feel crazy!! I can't figure it out and hate the look - it's almost impossible to find a message board. Whose bright idea was this? :(
-
I just went to look at CC on my iPad and the look of the site is SO VERY DIFFERENT - actually it took me forever to FIND the NCL board
I'm typing this logging in from my laptop, which seems to have remained unchanged. Anyway else having trouble navigating the new look of the CC app?

So excited. Is it July yet??
We're going in July as well - 20th

THANK YOU for that info. We've always had to wait for the ships to come all the way down the Hudson before you can get a good view of them This new view is awesome!
Wait..the Breakaway is in port today???.. I always thought the Breakaway sailed Sun-Sun? CTN?
