  1. I often see posts on here (and other places) from people who are worried about cruising for the first time without a partner. Even though they state that they are travelling with family or friends they are often advised to attend the solo get togethers. I am in two minds about this. A tea and biscuit isn't going to bankrupt P&O so why not? But, these meetings are for solo travellers (those who are travelling alone) to meet up to arrange port visits, evening activities and such like and, if you are with friends and family you are not a solo traveller. I'v witnessed the situation where sisters, sharing a cabin, have attended. On the other hand, I have met more than a few solo travellers who had left their partners at home for a myriad of reasons. Single does not mean solo, and solo does not mean single. What are others thoughts. Should those who are not solo travellers be "allowed" to gatecrash these get togethers. Should more of a difference be made between single and solo.
  2. You can take it wherever you want! I often make a g&t last all evening and take it from one venue to another.
  3. Extension cords are not allowed. You are allowed multi socket adaptors that are NOT surge protected.
  4. Solo travellers are more likely to book excursions. A lot of people don’t like (feel safe) wandering round an unfamiliar foreign place on their own.
  5. The price you see advertised is per person, based on sharing a cabin. So you need to double the headline price to see the price for the cabin. The way I see it is that I pay slightly less than a couple and I don't have to share!
  6. I arrive by coach so never use the luggage pods, that is all taken care of.
  7. No. That is to say there are no restrictions on multi-way adaptors. Just extension leads with surge protectors are not allowed (unless needed for medical use).
  8. That honey will not work. Mass produced honey is 'farmed' by feeding bees sugar syrup. You need to use natural honey, produced by bees that make it the old fashioned way from natural sources such as flowers.
  9. The deck will depend on the tide. Self disembarkation is always first at around 7am.
  10. Not necessarily. I know people have not got their cabin allocation until check in. I think you can print luggage labels that leave the cabin blank or, have a code on that indicate that no cabin has been allocated and it gets sorted on board.
  11. Tips are INCLUDED in the cost of the cruise. You are free to give EXTRA tips to particular staff if you want to. Sometimes I do, sometimes I don't.
  12. It's happened more than once. A crew member jumped ship in Boston (iirc) on a Canada/USA cruise September 2019.
  13. Think so. In August P&O were reduced the price, even for those who had already booked.
  14. I've rebooked for Aurora British Isles which is few weeks later.
  15. I had the same experience. I tripped over my own feet walking to his desk. He smiled and asked if I'd been drinking, I replied "not yet", he smiled again and said as I left, "go open the wine now". It's just a matter of being sensible and not making stupid remarks about 9/11 or, getting a green card etc.
  16. Oriana was on it's lasts legs though. If the vibration in the mdr wasn't enough to put me off her, it was the total loss of power (twice) despite a chunk of the top deck having two generators on it. None of that is true about Aurora.
  17. The most important thing (in my mind) is repatriation and medical evacuation (helicopter off the ship) cover.
  18. They have conditioner, but not body lotion.
  19. You are right. I'm still working my way through all the different cleaners and lens wipes I accumulated, all promising to keep my vision clear.
  20. Trouble is anyone can buy them (or very similar, and us civilians can't tell the difference) from Amazon. We all know, or read, about people using them to dodge mask wearing during the height of covid.
  21. Jean Is famous for having different experiences on board ship to everybody else. Examples that spring to mind is despite her self confessed non obsession with hygiene she has never been ill, she has never met anyone who talked about what they paid for their cruise etc etc.
