Hi, I am sailing with you as well🙂,,,,,,to your question about boarding......you can get to the port early but depending on which pier she is docked in? Not sure where she will be so don't know what the set up will be for early arrivals.

According to Port Everglades website both Silver Moon and Silver Whisper should leave from berth 4! I do not know whether it is feasible to accommodate both ships from the same berth knowing that the Whisper leaves at 7pm and the Moon at 10pm. I will be on the Moon but have not received my cruise ticket yet. I was wondering whether the boarding time could be delayed to late afternoon in order all the Whisper pax being taken care of before. I assume the same ground staff will take care of both ships. Am I correct?

  2. Interesting to see the evolution of the available inventory for the December 2, 2021 Silver Moon FLL-LIM. Up to October 30, it was quite stable with approximately 130 suites available. suddenly during this week-end, 50 suites have disappeared from the available inventory. Have they been sold? The loading factor for the cruise went from 57% to 74% in just a couple of days!! Surprising. For similar itinerary on the moon (December 18 LIM-FLL and January 3 FLL-LIM the loading factor remains quite stable at respectively 68% and 86%). Here I am assuming that any suite not available for sale is sold which I know is not true because SS is putting aside some suites in the frame of the covid situation but I have no idea how many. Do other CC members have witnessed the same evolution?

Yes. This was fine for us too, last month. We got a rapid antigen test at a pharmacy in Corsica then flew home 2 days later using those results.

May I ask you in which language your test result documentation was written : only French or both French & English? I was wondering whether a document written only in French will be accepted. Thanks.

I got the Antigen test on board the ship before flying home last week.  It was 100% acceptable.

    OMG....I have been home a week😲

Thank you so much! Are you on board the Whisper departing FLL on December 2? If yes, I will board the Moon the same day!

Hello, I just sailed on Spirit(sitting at the airport now) you need an Antigen test or a PCR to fly to Europe, each country has different standards. We were tested prior to boarding yes. It was the Antigen test. They do them at the port. I flew to Lisbon and Portugal requires either test so you don't have to do the 72 hour PCR for entry into Portugal.

I have to say when we landed nobody asked for any health forms at all. Only asked for the Passport.

Now this morning when I checked in at the KLM  counter they wanted to see everything. VAXX card, negative test results (ship did the test before we disembarked) and. Passport.

Could you confirm that for entry to the United States a rapid antigen test is ok. It is not necessary to get a PCR test. Thanks for confirmation.

Can I ask you what you have done about health insurance. That is the biggest negative to us following your example. We have a few years on you.

We will keep our Swiss health insurance with an additional travel health insurance which will cover our health cost with no limit whatever the country including the USA. The additional cost is quite limited approximately 300$ per year per couple.

    Fingers crossed he doesn't forget!

I wonder what is being done for arriving in countries insisting a negative PCR test is required for entry. Viking have an onboard lab for PCR testing, but I don't think SS has? Obviously they may obtain dispensation, but unless they do, it's yet another barrier we will face.

I know the UK is (allegedly) set to announce new quarantine rules for returning from red countries, but think that will just mean you can do so at home. For me, that's completely fine - but my wife is a hairdresser and a full month off is never gonna happen!

It has just been announced that the US travel ban will be lifted on November 8!!!

I understood that anyone who'd been in Schengen, UK or South Africa within the preceding two weeks was still banned from entering the US, irrespective of vaccine status. Aren't we still waiting for the Pres to announce the US opening up to twice vaxxed in time for thanksgiving?

    Johnny

On september 20, the White House announced that the travel ban will be lifted for vaccinated people as soon as beginning of November. My flight being November 30, I guess I am safe!

I worked for UBS many years back, most of the Swiss folks I met were pretty structured.  Do you "wing it" like Kimanjo or is your trip planned out?   We would definitely need the trip planned that's just our DNA.  My sister does trips like you mention they aren't for the same duration tho.

I'm very familiar with the Northeast & Midwest US if I can help in anyway please let me know.

Thanks. We are very structured and will plan each 5-month period well in advance.

  10. As far as we are concerned we are both 53. We intend to travel 2 times 5 months per year back to France/Switzerland 1 month for year-end and 1month in summer as long as our parents are still there. We will start with a road trip in the US from Boston to Los Angeles. Then 5 months in Indonesia (back to Europe with a 40 day cruise between Singapore and Barcelona) then 5 months in Australia followed by 2 months in New Zealand then a cruise between Auckland and Vancouver. Then a road trip to Montreal etc etc. This is the broad idea. Reality might be quite different. But after a quite busy work life we thought it was the right time to do it.

  11. I have just got my SS Travel consultant over the phone. SS is about to issue my air ticket today for my FLL - LIM cruise December 2-18, 2021. My consultant is quite optimistic that the cruise will happen with the original itinerary. To my knowledge, for vaccinated European Union citizens there is no restrictions for any of the visited countries on this cruise and so I cross my fingers that it will move forward as planned!

My take on the OPs question is that, even though he knows what the rules and protocols are for SS, he doesn't want to bring or wear a jacket.  There certainly won't be a lack of dining choices for someone going this route but it appears that that the protocols aren't what he's hoping for.  My suggestion would be to pack and send a jacket in advance to the ship so that it is available in the cabin on embarkation day. The pesky thing could be discarded at the end of the cruise without all the angst of packing issues. Problem solved.....if that really is the problem.

Sorry but you have not read my question properly : I have never mentioned that I do not want to wear a jacket. Knowing that I want to follow the rule and wear a jacket and knowing that I may be in a situation where I will not have one with me, I was just asking whether it was possible to borrow one on board. I think it's an easy question and even if English is not my mother tongue, I think it was understandable. Thanks.

It always amazes me the  number of people who  think  the rules dont apply to  them !!

It always amazes me the number of people who are not able to read and understand a basic question!!

This is explicitly because I want to follow the rules that I have asked whether it was possible to borrow a jacket for formal evenings. I have never mentioned that I intended to attend a formal dinner without a jacket. I want to follow the rules. Next time please take a moment before writing your comment!

I think the best way to get you answer (making sure it’s true or not) give a call to SS or your TA for information.  That’s then only way your know for sure.

Yes. I will ask my Travel advisor at Silversea. Thanks.

How about a lightweight hopsack blazer “ranger rolled” (you can google the process).  It would fit in your backpack.  My son did this while backpacking & it worked great.  Also, there are ways to

fold a blazer so that it takes up very little room and doesn’t wrinkle.  Just a suggestion.

    Thanks for this advice.

Well goodness me how dare you consider travelling the world without a jacket and worse to have the temerity to consider travelling on Silversea without one!  😄   Dont worry my husband left our cabin on formal night on one ship wearing just a white shirt, bow tie and dark trousers, we were immediately accosted by our butler who said if necessary he could find a jacket for my husband to wear.   How fantastic to leave behind your old lifestyle and travel the world. I envy you your proposed peripatetic future and am sure you will have a wonderful time even on SS!!

    Thank you so much!
