  1. We are sailing Regal Princess, October 9, 2023, on a 15 day Trans-Atlantic. Does anybody know when the formal nights will be on this cruise. My wife and I are interested in booking dinner at the Crown Grill, and we do not wish our reservation to coincide with one of the formal nights.
  2. We recently received notice that our "Medallions" for our upcoming cruise on Regal Princess are "on-the-way." Looking at tracking, it appears that they will be delivered by USPS, shipper Ding Hong. We were wondering if they did not originate in China and are of Chinese Manufacture. Does anybody know where these Princess devices are made?
  3. Only class M1 Mini-Suite has club or reserve class.
  4. We rarely asked for the same staff. We discovered that in Club Class, all the staff gave excellent service.
  5. Forgive my mistake, I was thinking, at the time of writing, of some of the individuals who posted experiences with Princess. This incident occur at Carnival. It was indeed very stressful; and the supervisor who we dealt with was very belligerent. I believe it was the last time we ever sailed on Carnival. We never had any type of problem in respect to cabin selection with Princess. But…we always make sure that our travel agent specifies …no substitutions, no “upgrades”
  6. When we book we always request "no upgrade" Once on Carnival, when we arrived at the pier to check in, we were told by one of their agents, "that Carnival had wonderful news, we were being upgrade to a higher class." I immediately asked it we were being upgraded to a suite. At that point the agent called over a supervisor who admitted it was still a balcony cabin. We refused and were told that we had to take the upgrade. It led to a standoff for 20 minutes, until Princess gave our old room back to us. When we contacted our travel agent, after the cruse, to ask what had happened, she told us "... that Princess had contacted her and told us we were being upgraded to a suite. She wanted to surprise us." P.S. We always check and recheck our cabin to make sure that such "upgrades" do not occur.
  7. Very lucky, usually they like to rotate the waiters.
  8. Depends on the ship and how long the voyage. As was stated in most cruises Club or Reserve Class are booked up fairly quickly. We do have Reserve Class on Regal Princess , Trans-Atlantic Passage. We have been contacted by Princess several times asking if we wish to upgrade to a "Full Suite" We are happy with our room, and the "perks" that go with it. Will not trade up.
  9. Celebrity and Princess are both regarded as "Upscale Cruise Lines" more similar than dissimilar. Like most products there will always be a variety of opinions in respect to which line, if any is better. When we cruise Celebrity we go Aqua Class. When we go Princess we go Club, now Reserve Class. We in the past have liked both products. Our next cruise on Princess will be on the Regal Princess in several weeks. Our last cruise on Celebrity was over Christmas on Celebrity Reflection. We did note that the "Blu" Dining Room has had some cutbacks in both quantity, quality, and choice of selections and was a disappointment. The entertainment also seem a bit "stale" We got the impression that Celebrity is putting much of their efforts into their Edge Class Ships. Perhaps Princess might be doing the same with their Sphere Class. Will give an update after our next cruise.
  10. However, these ships are not flagged in either the United States or Great Britain. Much of the crew depends on tips which they send home to their families. One is hurting them, not the cruise line.
  11. Different lines, different types of cruising. NCL is more mainstream. Princess, like Celebrity and Holland America are regarded as being Upscale. Princess is more traditional cruising. The Regal is one of the "Royal Class" of Princess ships. We have sailed on it many times and will be taking a Tran-Atlantic on it in several weeks. Would go with Princess.
  12. Would one go to a restaurant, notice a price increase because of inflation, and not leave a tip?
  13. In most cases, especially if you visit a port in which there is a number of shops selling alcohol, there will be a desk when you arrive back at the ship that will take the alcohol, and send it to your room, usually the night before you are expect to disembarck. In ports where there is limited selling of alcohol, the ship may not bother with this process. In St. Thomas, many stores will offer to send the alcohol directly to your ship, and again it is usually at your cabin the evening before you disembarck.
  14. My travel agent, who gave us the "Plus Package" as a gift informed me that Princess Views the "new additions" as a modification of their original package, and they have charged extra money for this. Hence they do not feel that individuals who purchased the ""Original Plus" as a lesser price as not losing anything. However, despite this explanation, I do believe that they should have made it retroactive, in place of the negative comments they have generated in respect to this.
  15. Not only the quality of the bean, but how long its sits in the coffee dispenser on board. Fresh is best.
  16. As long as they have that marvelous area in the Buffet filled up with deserts, as well as the International Cafe in the atrium, I have no problem.
  17. Actually, I believe that you made my point. Princess and other cruise lines (Celebrity comes to mind) have had no problem in reducing benefits (unlimited drinks to 15/day) without a refund, but in the case of Princess Plus, they have extended benefits, but have not made it retroactive to individuals who already have pre-purchased the plan in advance.
  18. We have also been sailing for many years, and it appear that the “nickel & dining” is definitely on the increase. And even with that, if they want to add more benefits, but charge more, one can argue in favor of this, but not to grandfather in the individuals who have in good faith purchased this before the “upgrade” is just poor policy.
  19. Princess should fire whoever is in charge of customer relations in respect to their decision to not grandfather those who have already bought these packages into the added benefits they are no being denied. Similar in a way to celebrity reducing privileges to their Aqua Class. The cruise lines may save pennies, but it will cost them big in good will.
  20. Good point. If it is what one wants. We always book a Mini-Suite, club class, when we book Celebrity we go Aqua Class, but it may make more sense to book a standard balcony on one of the luxury class liners.
  21. One could argue that it would make more sense to book on a “true” luxury liner such as Oceania, Regent Seven Sea, Crystal, or Seaborne, then to pay a lot more for the “Ship within a Ship” concept.
  22. It does appear that the bidding system could be quite complicated in practice. Could be that Princess had a higher bid which they also decided to accept and the computers or whatever does the bookings shuffled the individual with a lower bid to a peripheral cabin of the same class. But in the end, the passenger got what they bid for and requested. Enjoy!!!!
  23. Have to disagree, it would confuse the "muster station" arrangements. God forbid if there was an accident, the wrong family might be notified of such. I would absolutely clear it with Guest Services and have my change recorded and noted.
  24. What I am saying is that before one attempts to switch rooms, they should notify Princess that this is permissible. If I came back to my room and saw a note acting me if I would switch cabin’s, I would report this immediately to Princess.
  25. I am not sure if Princess would approve an upgrade without their consent. Always raises the question if there is an accident, they wish to know who was in what room.
