Will new requirements over physical distancing, air quality, wearing masks, etc., will this finally be the end of interior smoking on RCI ships in the casino?  Celebrity does not allow it, Azamara does not have casinos on most ships.  Can't figure out how people would smoke through a mask.

Well for starters we have no idea if masks will be required on ships...…..

If so, and they try to "social distance" too (which isn't possible), there will be many less passengers including smokers.

    LOL.....getting a weird visual

  2. Heres the thing:  In life, there are NO guarantees.  A person has his annual check up with his doctor, who says, you are in great shape!!!  The man, on the way home, has a massive heart attack and dies...….how about this:  How about having the cruise lines give US a paper saying that we will NOT contact any disease while on their ship, due to sanitation issues????  Get my drift?  THERE ARE NOT GUARANTEES IN LIFE!!!  just death and taxes!!

It's been a while, is SAS available the day before your cruise? I thought they just went to the port from your hotel, but might have changed. Been a long time.

I got a hotel in ft Lauderdale with airport pick up and used SAS the day of the cruise.

I've had good safe hotels in miami, but just saying all areas arent safe. Not that your driver would take you thru a bad area, just be careful in miami. I stayed either near the airport or once in what I think was a 5 star on the ocean near the port. It's a very long walk across the bridge to the ship, still took a taxi. I just wanted to see what a 5 star hotel was like.

I lived in Boca Raton for 13 years. I had friends who refused to drive into miami, especially at night after stories about getting lost and winding up in a dead end street. Over cautious maybe, women my age. But miami does have a bad rep with locals.

I also few into ftl and stayed there, better hotel rates.

    great advice thx

  4. Hello folks: in December we are flying into FLL a day early, to cruise out of the Port of Miami.  SAS Transportation has been recommended.  Question:  Should I fly into FLL Airport, get a hotel in FLL, then take SAS, the next day to the Port of Miami.  OR....should I fly into FLL Airport, have SAS take us to a hotel in Miami, then take the Miami hotel shuttle, the next day to the Port of Miami?  hope that makes sense. It would appear, upon return, I can take SAS from POM directly to the airport?  Thank you!!

  5. I can certainly understand your concerns. Everyone will have their own comfort level on this.  We have 26+ cruises, and are booked for June, July, August & December. Norovirus has always been an issue on cruise ships....but thankfully, we have never had any issues.  Someone once said:  Life begins outside your comfort level.....and we hold on to that.....but once again.....everyone's comfort level is different.  Do what you are comfortable with.

This is the big question mark  what happens to all those  thousands of dollars in FCCs, if the  current med authorization will be required for those who can't obtain them.  Was not required when we booked! Will it be refunded if boarding is denied or impossible???????

    that's a VERY good question

X is uping the chicken game with Alaska cruises by saying they are looking into  itinerary options. I want a refund but I don't want them to decide my Alaskan cruise is now for an example a Caribbean cruise. Under our contract they can do that.

Right now X wants cash I don't think they are concerned about keeping customer loyalty.

I hear ya.....it took a long time to decide what ship and what itinerary I wanted, along with the departure city.  I DONT want a change in itinerary.....what are they going to offer me in that area?  san diego? seattle etc?  they should just come clean and state those cruises are going to be cancelled

By now it is patently obvious that cruises in Europe cannot happen as advertised in April or probably May. Most of the ports are closed to tourists, the countries are on lockdown, and all major countries of the world have told their citizens to stay off cruise ships and away from many European countries. For countries with socialized medicine, they have added the power of denying insurance coverage to citizens who go against these "advisories."

Meanwhile, Celebrity says its April and May cruises in Europe (and TAs) are still going as scheduled. Really? How?

So we passengers are caught in a game of chicken. If we take the CWC option, we get 100% FCC. But if they cancel, we get 25% more FCC or the option of a refund. That's a big difference, especially if FCC is of no use to you for whatever reason. At least $1000, and likely more.

I understand Celebrity is probably trying hard to figure out exactly how far out to cancel. Fine. But if it would be useful to know how many people actually intend to sail on a given date before making those decisions, why not make the cancellation offer retroactive? Then people like us (and many on our Roll Call) can go ahead and cancel and they'll know for sure what would be the capacity were they to go ahead. Failing that, make the call, please. It's less than four weeks away!

Respectfully, a loyal US-based Celebrity cruiser who is anxiously waiting for the day when the European market is open to cruising again.

these are such strange times.....cant they be realistic, cancel the sailings and let people plan ahead.  I would think they would gain more respect or loyalty

Lots of people out there would give it a go.

Agree that if they are provided with a note saying you should not travel a 100% refund should be given

Two other things in the proposal are to ban travel from Italy - RCL put out notice it was looking at port and destination changes.

And the biggie - a government hearing in Victoria BC starting shortly to close BC ports - Vancouver and Victoria - until a future date. Not clear but sounded like June.  Would reevaluate then.

just cancelled/rescheduled our Alaskan trip for 5/30.....I did not think it would work out

  10. We had an Alaskan cruise, sailing on May 28, Seattle to Seattle.  Trudeau, stopped cruises until 7/1, for ships under 500.  Celebrity has not come forward with their intentions, so I kept my current cruise & scheduled another for 5/21, as I wanted the same rooms and itinerary.  I needed to be proactive.....can't stand loose ends.  My thoughts are Canada will NOT allow the sailing I booked.

  11. can someone help me here?? We are scheduled to cruise to Alaska on May 28th, Seattle to Seattle.  We agreed to go, unless they tell us otherwise.  It is looking that they will cancel this cruise,.  What is the Jones act? and what are out advantages to waiting until Celebrity cancels us out.  Thanks everyone

I'm still betting on all cruises being cancelled for a couple of months.  More and more ports are closing and more and more cruise lines are cancelling.

we are booked out of Seattle to Alaska, 5/28, my feeling is that will change

Not sure how reassuring this is.  Don't really want to be quarantined on a cruise ship.  Thinking of the Diamond Princess at the moment.  I wonder how many are cancelling or moving Alaska cruises especially if they have to fly through Seattle.  This is the decision I am wrestling with as I write this.

us too!!!  we are flying in and out of Seattle at the end of May for our Alaskan Cruise on Celebrity.  It looks like the governor of Washington is considering "stronger measures"  unsure what that might mean for all of us
