There isn't anything that has to be done on an iPhone.  If they have a different smart phone, that works too.  If they don't have a smart phone, they can make reservations on the interactive tv.  Paper menus are still available if they don't read a QR code.  They will need to print their setsail passes if they don't have them in the app.  My 84 yr old mother uses the app on the ship to see the compass and to see what reservations we all have as you can link and see reservations for all in your party.

perfect...this is the type of info i was looking for:  paper menus...& printing sail passes...thank you so much

  2. The pictures of Blue Lagoon Tubing do NOT match up with what people have posted on YOUTUBE, which appears to be tubers just connected with ropes and being towed by a lead boat.  Has anyone does this excursion?  can you give me your opinion?  thanks

It was our first post COVID cruise and could not have been more impressed with crew and staff on Edge.  The staff went above and beyond everywhere to make sure everyone had a great time and were safe.  Crew and staff had mask on at all times, they were cleaning things constantly.  They all seemed so happy to have guest back on board.  Their attitudes were amazing since they are not allowed off the ship at any time.  They have been completed isolated on board since the second cruise back.  Working and living on the ship 24/7 would be difficult for anyone.  The ship was only about 45% occupied so there was never a wait for meals at the dinning rooms, I had made reservations before the cruise but it was not necessary.  The food at all four of the MDRs was excellent. My favorite was Cyprus the Eden lunch was excellent also.  Oceanview was good, no different than any of the Buffets on ships. This ship is amazing, the art work and decor are very modern and contemporary.  The staterooms can be fully controlled with the phone app.  The silent disco and entertainment both production shows and guest entertainer's were excellent.  Captain Kate, with her scary cat "Bug", was a big hit.  She is very personable and represents Celebrity very well.  I would love to go back on tomorrow if I could.  I have posted to review.  The ports of call are definitely lacking.  Most of the shops at Crown Bay are closed, some of the shops at St Martin port were open, downtown was about 50-50.  It is very sad to see the ports closed, the September 2018 hurricane and Covid have been a 1:2 punch.   If anyone has any questions about the cruise let me know.

we were on the same sailing......agree with everything that was stated here

Yes, I’ve been told six months for international trips.

You would be able to use your government issued birth certificate (not a hospital birth registration) and your drivers license for a closed loop Caribbean cruise. Many thanks to @CHEZMARYLOUwho reminded me that we could do this if our renewed passports didn’t turn up in time.

Also, if your birth certificates last name does not read the same as your DL, i was told you need to take your marriage certificate.  I am divorced so they told me I need to also bring those papers......good grief....

I actually called Celebrity & was told they would accept the rapid result test-antigen from CVS.  Thsts where I’m going.  The problem with the Naat test is that there is no guarantee that you will get the results in 1 or 2 days.

    good stuff

Yup terry I know all airlines are adjusting as they add aircraft and aircrew back on; I’ve got a number of changes by especially Delta with multiple changes each flight. Some are as reported, 10-15min, others are complete changes in code and depart/arrivals. had to make the calls too.

Isn’t it great to be posting about actual issues that relate to cruising! Love it.

i am sure all of us will agree that flying, on any airline, is surely not like it used to be....so changes and issues

We gave up casinos on cruise ships once they stopped letting you use real quarters in the slot machines! (So, that was awhile ago). With that said, we passed through the casino several times.  There were always people playing, but there were open machines at all times as well.  (I will say I overheard several people saying that they did not do so well in there on this cruise..)

good to know....i guess we are not the norm....we have always done well....or at least know when to walk away....thanks again

Like so many of you, this vacation is a dream come true for us. We’ve planned, booked and then cancelled so many trips since January 2020.. including a big family trip for our 30th anniversary that I had been planning since 2018. So when the Edge sailing lined up with the vacation days everyone already blocked out, it was kismet.
For references, we’re a family of 6 (3 adult daughters and one new son in law). We have 3 Aqua class cabins on deck 9 aft.
I posted about our check-in experience but I’ll recap here. We had a 12:30-1p arrival time. We arrived at 12:10, dropped bags, and saw what looked like several lines including a long line for retreat guests. There were also people not in line standing around. It looked a bit chaotic, but we found some employees, showed our arrival time and they walked us to the 12:30-1p line. We were inside the building by 12:25 or so, did the Vaccine card check where they confirm your health status, take a picture of your vax card and send you upstairs. No line at security. Then onto the Xpress pass checkin to show passports, then onto the ship. We officially boarded by 12:40.  No wristbands were given out. Glass of champagne in hand we toasted the start of our vacation, found our rooms to drop bag, cried a little at how beautiful our IV cabins were, and went to lunch.  I don’t know the official passenger count nor do I know if there are any unvaxxed adult passengers. I’ve seen some kids but don’t know how many are onboard.  The crew are no longer required to wear masks though a few still are.  Lots of smiling faces.  The safety drill was very simple. We watched the videos in the app earlier that morning and just showed up at the muster station to get marked off.
Here’s what we’ve experienced in our first 24 hours.
The ship does not feel crowded at all. Everywhere we’ve gone there have been seats for our group. We’ve gone to the Magic Carpet a couple of times as well as the Sunset bar and the Martini bar and always found a table and chairs for our group. We had dinner at Le Petit Chef with same day reservation. I didn’t see the dining rooms so don’t know if there was a wait   There was one show in the theater last night. We arrived 15 min before it started and easily found seats for 6 together. It was a little more full at the start of the show but still plenty of seats for groups of 2 or 4. .  After the main show, we wandered around some more and while there were plenty of people about, you could still find tables open around the Plaza to enjoy the entertainment there.
This morning we had breakfast at Blu. Got there a little before 8am, we’re seated right away and enjoyed a very nice meal. Service was wonderful.  Getting off the ship in Nassau could not have been easier. The Gateway is very open and we didn’t experience any waits.  We’re in

port with Freedom of the Seas. Even so, there was no wait to get a cab to the beach. We went to Cabbage beach for a couple of hours and had plenty of room to spread out.
The elevators have been really fast and easy to get so far.
We’re leaving Nassau soon and the pool is crowded but I see plenty of chairs in the sun and the shade. The solarium also had lots of open loungers even at mid day.
We’ll try out the Thermal suite this afternoon and then dinner in Normandie because the menu looks delicious.
I hope this helps those planning their upcoming trips.  Really it’s been a wonderful experience so far. Though this is our first Celebrity cruise, I can already tell I’m in love.

where is Cabbage Beach? how much to get there? open swimming with facilities?
