  1. My son sent his in 12 weeks and still does not have it back. I guess he will be using his birth certificate for our Disney cruise next week.
  2. I need all the advice I can get. It is my left hand and they are removing a bone at the base of the thumb and taking a tendon from my forearm and making a joint. I will also have the next joint fused and pinned. It sounds like a lot but two friends have had it done. I will have a removable brace after 6 weeks and a month of therapy before I leave. I know it will be stiff but I hope it all works out. This winter has been tough.
  3. Happy Saturday all, I am a big believer in hugs. Part of my anticipatory guidance I gave to my teen patients was to give their parents 3 hugs a day. It helps them connect with someone even if they currently don’t really like their rules! I tried my new can opener and it worked great. I feel I am now prepared for six weeks in a cast staring February 9th. Jacqui I know this is a hard decision for you. I will be out of my cast for a few weeks before I leave for our May cruise but I am going for it. I figure it is over 3 months away and I hope my bones will heal by then. I will have to be diligent about doing my therapy while I am on the cruise. With someone cooking and cleaning for me it may be easier to recover on the ship! I know it is harder without Jose and I worry about recovering alone too. You must do what is right for you. DGS and I waiting for the Chiefs game to start. Unfortunately weather will not be good.
  4. I just booked the same cruise that @kazu is on for May and that is how it worked for me. She may have a cheaper fare from booking earlier and may not have any savings going to CO. I know I am in a VQ and started with the OV upgrade price. It did take me explaining it to the TA and HA rep had to ask someone else.
  5. My new can opener arrived! I am anxious to try it but I don’t need to open anything. I agree with the quote of the day as I am currently watching my 2 yo granddaughter today due to day care mixup. to @Cruising-alongI know how hard it is to watch your DH suffer with his treatments. Just when it seems to much he will start turning around. Make sure to take care of yourself. Cancer is a journey with many twists and turns.
  6. They charge the lowest verandah and give you the highest if that is the cabin you want. So you would not start out at VF. My TA did not know this so I had to be conferenced in and event the agent wasn’t sure so she conferenced in a third person.
  7. The price for me on a 22 day cruise to get the cabin I wanted saved me money. What I liked that as a solo they did not charge for two so it worked out well for me.
  8. I too learned of Club Orange perks here on CC and booked it for my 22 day cruise this May on NS. My TA was not aware of category upgrade and the new lower price. I will be sailing solo and like the idea of the smaller dining room and the more personal service. Thanks for everyone’s perspective on CO.
  9. Thanks for the recommendation I am having hand surgery in February so I ordered one today.
  10. Good morning, I am a long time lurking and a fan of @Scrapnana cruise blogs. I had a friend and coworker who had a stem cell transplant for multiple myeloma 5 years ago and she is going strong today. It is very rough treatment but she is healthy enough to be Dean of a medical school. Thanks for letting me post and prayers for Kathi.
  11. Thanks for the heads up on the $1 deposit. I booked a 22 day Norway cruise. I had the same concerns with the HIA as I don’t drink alcohol. After adding up the things I would use it really was a deal. Happy sailing!
  12. Wow is all I can say. There is so much defensiveness protecting Celebrities poor OVC. I sailed on the Infinity in June and the Edge in December and they were both not good. The Edge was particularly bad. My favorite memory from my 30 days on the Eclipse in 2019 was the great OVC where the head chef was present and was checking on the quality. For the first time in my 30 years of cruising I ate breakfast in the MDR, burgers or hot dogs for lunch and ate in specialty restaurants for dinner. Luckily the Edge was only half full and we could get reservations. It is ok to say quality has changed and we are not happy. People are acting like it is one of their children we are complaining about. There is room for improvement and without feedback it will not happen.
  13. So sorry to hear of your loss. My late DH and I took every opportunity to make memories and I will continue to make more. I think about him when I go cruising and I know he is sailing with me. Please continue to “make it count”.
  14. That would be right after the Grand Australian cruise. I hope that is not the case.
  15. I was just on the Edge and indeed there is a walkway in front of the cabanas. I do not see any advantage having them for the canal.
  16. Thanks for the review. I am looking forward to our Marvel. Raise at the end of January.
  17. We are flying into FLL the day before our cruise out of Miami. There will be 3 adults and 2 kids under 5. Any suggestions will be great. We will need transportation for both to and from Miami. We are staying one night in FLL after cruise to catch a non stop flight. Thanks
  18. We board the Dream for the January 30th cruise. This will be my first Disney after cruising since 1991. I agree with lack of information. I hope @bob brown will come back to say how they liked it.
  19. Disney is about as family/kid friendly as you can get and they strictly abide by their adult only areas. I will be happily sailing on them in January with the grandkids and I am glad they have both areas. I don’t think NCL will lose customers over a small area reserved for adults.
  20. My global entry card says to not carry it with you. I wonder if you have something different.
  21. I fly domestically quite often. For me to have my small drivers license is much preferable to carrying my passport. No one said you can’t use your passport, some just want the convenience of their drivers license domestically.
  22. Even Disney cruise line has adult only areas. We can have both if people respect the rules.
  23. It’s all about entitlement. There will be no convincing them that they need to follow the rules. Very sad that this is the lesson they are giving their child. I have seen it time and time again. Basically the lesson is if you can get away with breaking the rule go for it until you are caught then complain that it is unfair.
  24. I am happy I got the real ID, it is worth the extra cost to not have to carry my passport for domestic travel. I just don’t want to risk losing my passport which is much harder to replace. When you factor in the cost of a cruise I might miss if I lose my passport and the small price for the enhanced drivers license it was the right choice for me. My passport is happily waiting for me in my safe for my December cruise.
  25. I am truly flabbergasted at this parents attitude towards rules. I am a pediatrician and practiced for 30 years and have seen lots of entitled parents and kids who felt rules did not apply to them. I have seen many of them come back confused why their precious offspring broke their family rules and want to blame it on others. My advice is to stop trying to reason this out as there is no win here. Even if others are breaking rules the best message to our children is that we follow them. You will never go wrong with that advice. I was on the Joy in the Haven and the sun deck chairs were hard to come by. P.S. I love to travel child free and I love kids, I just don’t want them around all the time quiet or not.
