  1. I did similar shopping today. Large bottle of Kraken and a bottle of Chambord (for my raspberry bourbon lemonade 😀). I put the bottles on the checkout counter and looked at the bourbon section to see if they had anything unusual in stock. You never know what you might find. The woman behind the counter, who knows me now, told me they had a few bottles of Buffalo Trace under the counter and asked if I wanted one. Yes please. Although it's just average bourbon, it's hard to get here for some reason. It was reasonably priced at $40. She also said there was a bottle under there with a horse on top. WHAT???? Blanton's in my local store? She had to check first with the store manager, who said that she couldn't sell it to me because it was reserved for someone else. She told me it was just as well because Blanton's is marked up to $120, although I probably would have been willing to pay that. When she grabbed to the box though, it was gold colored, meaning it was Blanton's Gold, not Blanton's Original. For kicks, she looked up the price and it was $160. I don't know how much better the Gold is than the Original, but $160 would have pushed my limits.
  2. I've only had 2 afternoon tea experiences. The first was at The Athenaeum Hotel in London, just down the street from the Ritz. We stayed there for a few days and thought that both the stay and the afternoon tea were excellent. The second was at Bettys Cafe Tea Room in Harrogate. Bettys was nice but felt a little bit more touristy than The Athenaeum. I didn't think I'd enjoy afternoon tea and went only because Micheline wanted to go. It was more enjoyable than I expected.
  3. Happy to help. I love all of the interactive art on Q class ships. Was this on the wall outside of Music Hall? Untitled video - Made with Clipchamp.mp4
  4. What Mimi said! I say that where we live is more Georgia than Florida, with Live Oak trees, spanish moss, etc. I originally wanted to be further south with warm weather year round, but Micheline wanted a little bit of other seasons, so Amelia Island was our compromise. I'm glad she talked me into being a little further north. I don't think I'd like mid to upper 80s temps with humidity more than we have it here. We have several friends who moved here from southern Florida for better weather. Spring and fall here are perfect...mid 70s with low humidity. 😁
  5. Me too. As does winter. Of course I couldn't live without golf. Before retiring, I dreamed a little about finding a cheap slice of paradise somewhere in the Caribbean. I'd really enjoy being barefoot on a boat a lot. But I'd miss golf and other parts of reality (like good health care) too much. Guess my Caribbean dream will need to be a vacation.
  6. How about North Carolina? Lots of people seem to be retiring around the Asheville area. Four seasons, lots of mountains and it's 5 hours +/- to the ocean at Hilton Head, Charleston, Myrtle Beach.
  7. I'm weak. I don't wander out to the main Royal board as much anymore, but your post made me go look. Now I can't unread that tipping thread. Damn you OB!!!
  8. I'm still waiting on 2 blocks. Called C&A March 1st (Brandon) and was told that I should have a tracking number in 2 weeks. Called again on April 26 (8 weeks later...Arthur) and was told that it's still in process and they can't give me an expected delivery date. Arthur, sensing my frustration, tried to coddle me by telling me that 8 weeks is typical. Big mistake. I reminded him that my first block is from a year ago and my second is from last fall...much MUCH longer than 8 weeks. I asked if they have been in process that long or were they missed and the process wasn't actually started until I called on March 1. He didn't have an answer (yeah, right). I'd much rather have them say that the process didn't start until I called (ship happens and the blocks are not that big of a deal) than lie to me (both Brandon and Arthur) and treat me like an idiot. Either way, I'm not holding my breath.
  9. I used to take a 24 hour Zyrtec (technically, the CVS generic equivalent) every morning. Every few months, I'd switch to 24 hour CVS Claritin generic. I never took them both together...just alternating every few months to keep my body from getting too used to one or the other. After my last allergist visit, I'm now using Flonase spray twice a day and Montelukast every morning. I could keep taking the Zyrtec/Claritin but I haven't needed to do so. My symptoms are mostly running nose, post nasal drip, and watery eyes, so different from Greg.
  10. I looked into getting tickets to the Miami GP. I looked about a month ago (late) and all of the prime tickets were gone. Tickets in some of the "lesser" grand stands were about $500 each, or you could buy tickets in prime locations second hand for $1000 and up. Maybe we'll do it one year just for the experience but at those prices, it would likely be one and done for us also. I need to become friends with a celebrity or a really rich person. 😁 There was a funny incident before the race where a roaming reporter for the broadcast was interviewing celebrities on the starting grid. There was a roped off area with Roger Federer inside the ropes. Sir Jackie Stewart, who is an 83 year old, 3 time F1 champion, racing legend, was outside the ropes. The reporter said hi to Jackie and was trying to call Roger over to talk. Jackie ducked under the ropes and walked right through a few security people who tried to stop him. He just kept going and eventually convinced Roger to come over to the reporter and say a few words. It's good to be the king!
  11. I agree. We (my wife and I) did the reverse trip from Vancouver to Hawaii last fall. We found ourselves a little bored after a few sea days. We are much more port/activity oriented and can only handle sitting quietly and reading for so long. There were plenty of onboard activities, but they all seemed to revolve around exercise in the morning and trying to sell stuff to you in the afternoon. We enjoy each other's company (no really!) but it would have been better with a group of friends for the sea days.
  12. I watched and really enjoyed the Netflix series about the PGA Tour called Full Swing. It was based on the very successful Netflix series about Formula One racing called Drive to Survive. Although I didn't know much about F1, I started watching Drive to Survive and am really enjoying it as well. The sport of F1 is insane in every way. Unbelievable amounts of money, crazy fast and scary driving, world famous drivers, lots of politics behind the scenes, and an incredible spectacle when racing. The Miami Grand Prix is about to start and as you can imagine, Miami is a true spectacle with money and celebrities everywhere. I'm looking forward to watching.
  13. What did you think? We rarely go to the theater anymore. Only when it's a true block buster movie where the big screen and audio will make a difference (like Top Gun Maverick).
  14. We found that 270 was a great place to get a drink. Fantastic views and not overly crowded (when there's not an event in progress). We had great bartenders also, which always helps.
  15. The Kentucky Derby pre-race show is on TV so I decided to make myself a Mint Julep. I just realized that the race doesn't start for another 2.5 hours. I'd better limit myself to one Mint Julep or I won't be awake to watch the race!
  16. Great review @twangster. Whenever I see a review from you, it's an automatic follow. Thanks.
