  1. Out of curiosity, from where do they kick the extra point? I'm wondering if youth football followed the NFL and move the PAT line of scrimmage back to the 15, or if they still use the 2 yard line. I'm guessing the later since a 33 yard kick from the 15 might be hard for younger kickers. I think the CFL kicks from even further away than the NFL. Edit: Just watched the video of Owen kicking. Looks like the line up at the 2??
  2. Oh and so happy to see that your new phone made it in time. I'm really interested in your thoughts on the photo experience. I should be visiting the Verizon store soon.
  3. I'm home and so happy to see this review, as well as reviews from Renee and John. Great way to slowly re-enter reality. Sorry to hear about your accident. Hope it doesn't impact your cruise too much. Have a New Fashioned on me! Cheers!
  4. Home again, home again, jiggety-jig. Luggage included. More to come. I still need to post about our sunset Na Pali Coast cruise and our Waimea Canyon drive. I’ll do so as jet lag allows.
  5. We were a little late leaving HNL, which left us with a 40 minute layover in ATL. Less than I’d like but workable. Of course, we landed in terminal E and depart from terminal A. Got to our A gate and they were already boarding zone 2. Our Air tags say that our luggage is all in Atlanta but it’s not clear exactly where. Still 18 mins before take off to JAX. Shouldn’t be a problem. 🤞
  6. Hopefully, you’re completely stress free right now. We left the ship in good shape for you. Have you seen Pixel’s Cabaret yet? We really liked it but other people, not so much.
  7. Phew. We made it. Got to the gate literally 2 minutes before pre-boarding started. No lounge but we’re happy to have made the flight. When you’re in a hurry, every little thing seems to go wrong. Luggage from Hawaiian Airlines took forever. Eventually, 3 of our 4 bags appeared. The fourth was no where to be seen. Grrrrr. I eventually sent Micheline ahead with 2 bags while I waited. I was able to catch up with her. Our other “problem” was that TSA pre check didn’t show up on Micheline’s boarding pass, even though we both have global entry. While waiting in Kauai, I called the Delta Platinum Medallion phone line to see if they could fix that. Pre-check might have been the difference in making the flight or not. They usually have very helpful people at that number but not this time. She kept asking if her name was spelled wrong on the ticket. Nope. She eventually put me on hold and I stayed on hold until we began boarding and I hung up. Fortunately the agent at the check in counter was able to quickly fix it and re-printer the boarding passes. We did miss the lounge. Not a big deal as they’re serving dinner on the plane right away and we’re enjoying a cocktail while waiting for take-off. That’s helping to settle the nerves. Next stop, Atlanta.
  8. They just announced another 20 minute delay. Starting to get a little nervous. At least I can track the incoming flight now. It’s in the air.
  9. Not a great start to our trip home. We got to the Lihue airport about 3 hours early. Better to sit here than sit in the hotel. Hawaiian Airlines is a mess today. Everything is delayed. Not sure why. Looks like we’re are at least an hour delayed. We originally had 3 hours In HNL to collect our luggage, check in with Delta, and clear security. The 2 flights are separate itineraries. We’re now down to 2 hours. Should still be plenty of time but more stress than I’d like and less (no?) time to relax in the Delta lounge and get some lunch. Gotta love air travel these days.
  10. Misc. thought while waiting for our flight. Chickens and roosters are everywhere on Kauai. Sort of like Key West. They are smart in that they know humans have food, especially in touristy areas. You see them all over the place on signs, shirts, hats, etc. There was a sign in a store yesterday that said “The rooster crows, but the hen delivers”. 🤣🤣🤣
  11. So glad that you’re doing this. I’m relying on you and Greg to get me through being home from our trip. We get back tomorrow. Bon voyage!
  12. I fully agree with Dani. I’ll add that on Maui and Kauai, it’s difficult to get lost. There are only a few main roads to take you from A to B. Cell service is mostly good and Google Maps knows where everything is. Oahu on the other hand is more congested and confusing. Again though, Google Maps is your friend.
  13. Good final morning from Kauai. One last sunset before we pack up and leave. Today will be a LONG travel day. Hawaiian Air from Lihue to Honolulu, 3 hour layover, then Delta HNL-ATL-JAX. We arrive in Jacksonville at 8:30 tomorrow morning. I have a lot more to post about. We didn’t have as much “downtime” that last couple of days where I would normally edit pics and squeeze in some posts. I might post a few things from airports during layovers, but I will probably mostly get caught up when we get home…and I can post from a computer rather than this &*#%$ phone.
  14. For our Waimea Canyon drive today, we used a guide app called Shaka Guide. On Ovation, we met a family who lives on Maui and they recommended it. Good call. The app started with a visit to Kauai Coffee Company. We got to taste their coffee and see how coffee is made. It was a nice way to start the day. A little coffee humor.
  15. It’s Mai Tai time, aka happy hour. We had a long, fun day today and are currently enjoying a drink while waiting for a table at a restaurant called Keoki’s Paradise. Their Mai Tai is good, but not the best I’ve had. That title still belongs to The Hula Grill in Kaanapali. I’ve learned that the base ingredients are more or less the same everywhere and the difference is In the juice that they use. The Hula Grill uses POG juice…Passionfruit, Orange, Guava. The guava juice seems to make the difference. I’ll need to see if I can get passionfruit juice and guava juice at home. If not, there’s always Amazon.
  16. Definitely spend some time on one of the islands, before or after the cruise. Rent a car and have fun exploring.
  17. Somewhere…maybe earlier in this thread…we were talking about how some hotels have now defaulted to no housekeeping service. They will only provide service if asked. The Grand Hyatt takes a different approach that I like. They provide housekeeping by default. If you hang a card on your door knob by 11:00pm, they will not service your room the next day, and they’ll give you a $10 dining credit. Brilliant idea.
  18. There will be pics, lots of them. Can’t guarantee if they wont be cloudy, but there will be pics.
  19. There are many things that I love about Hawaii. I’m reminded of two of those things whenever I eat breakfast…coffee and pineapple. The coffee is SO good, especially if you’re drinking 100% Kona coffee. The pineapple however is from a different planet. The very best pineapples never leave the islands. They have the perfect level of sweetness and just melt in your mouth. I’ve never been able to find anything like it anywhere else. I could eat a plate full for breakfast, and wash it down with Kona coffee.
  20. Good morning from Kauai, our last full day here. I don’t want to think about tomorrow yet. ☹️ Today’s plan is to drive the Waimea Canyon. We had an overcast day yesterday and spent the day dodging rain drops (a couple of times not successfully). It looks like more of the same today. Hopefully, we’ll still get some nice canyon views. Time for another visit to the Hyatt’s amazing breakfast buffet. Are you listening Windjammer? More to come…
