  1. I realize the OP has probably already made a decision, but thought I would chime in since I was on both in the past year. I thought the crew was friendlier on the Grandeur. The Windjammer, Centrum, Park Cafe/Solarium seemed a lot more crowded on the Enchantment. MDR food and dining service was very good on both. Both Baltimore and Port Canaveral are easy ports. We liked the Grandeur so much we booked her again for this fall.

  2. Hi I am researching river cruises--have done many ocean, but no river cruises. I really appreciate this forum as it has provided much useful information. I do have a few questions for now and probably many more later!

I can only find March itineraries for Vantage's Rhine Discovery. Although prices are really good, won't it be really cold then? Is there a reason they don't do this itinerary for the whole season? (Or is just something I am doing in searching?!!)

I would prefer to do Spring or Fall, but also don't want to have to bundle up. What are some opinions on the best times for cruising (and why)? Thanks in advance for your help!

Having lived in many different places including foreign countries (relocated during my father's career as well as my career), there are a lot of GREAT places to live. You just have to look for the positives, relax and get involved in the community. If you do so, you can even enjoy living in the armpit of the U.S. known as Cleveland, Ohio (lol).

Wow, you are just determined to insult someone, aren't you?

  4. Right next to the sea glass beach near the dockyard, you can find Black bay beach ( it is said to be one of the best places to enjoy the sunset )...have a look at their fb page for pictures.

You are so right! Very beautiful view; small beach but very uncrowded when we were there. Walking distance from Dockyard. We were on the Grandeur and didn't arrive until 3. This was a great place (along with the sea glass beach) to go for a few hours.

  5. I really enjoy the shorter cruises. Our last three cruises have been 6, 5, and 6 days. And they seemed just about right. I keep looking at some 8 and 9 days, but hesitate about being onboard that long. We did a 10 day Panama several years ago and although we loved the ports, we were ready to be off by the end.

My hesitation with longer cruises may be because when we first started cruising, we would wear ourselves out trying to do everything! We would eat too much, drink too much, stay up too late! When I got home, I needed a vacation from my vacation. I am a little more relaxed about it now.

Enjoying this thread -- good topic!
