  1. Great thread! What makes a Wow cruise for me:

    Great food and service

    Beautiful ship

    Interesting itinerary

Live music ( love the steel drum band on deck)

    Dancing

    Meeting crew and fellow passengers

Variety of places around the ship to sit and watch the world go by

  2. Sailed the Grandeur in September. We chose it because of the ease of being able to drive to the port and the opportunity to go to Bermuda. We had an outside on Deck 2. Most of our previous cruises have been in balconies on bigger ships, so we were wondering how we would like it. We loved it! The smaller ship was so much easier to get around. Surprisingly, the elevators were never crowded. We liked all the entertainment in the Centrum --just gave a nice Vibe to the ship. We like the bigger ships with promenades too, but there were a few times late in the evening when we wondered where everyone was!

We enjoyed the movies on the deck. The cruise director and his staff were great --enjoyed the activities on the sea days. We didn't go to every show, but enjoyed the ones we did attend. Thought the main dining room food and service was very good. Didn't try any of the speciality restaurants. Loved Bermuda, just wish we had been there a little longer.

We liked the Grandeur so much we booked her again for next September.

PS Biggest surprise: We didn't miss the balcony.

  3. Nope, if there is a Diamond Lounge, you can still go there to get additional drinks. My experience a couple of weeks ago on the Vision was, that after the first night, they just have a look a your sea pass. It depends from ship to ship and bars to bars! So in that case, you can have more than 3...

On Grandeur they swiped our Sea Pass cards every time and had us sign receipts with a $0.00 charge. The R Bar was very strict about what you could get. Asked for an "on the rocks" margarita and they said no. Did get a Pina Colada at the Pool Bar one day. I was going to pay for it because that is what I wanted and they gave me a 0.00 receipt to sign. Didn't argue!

  4. Others have already answered your questions, so I won't repeat.

I just wanted to say that I thought I'd HATE it. I thought it would be blasting, but that wasn't the case.

We even enjoyed a few movies in the evening.

Agree with this. Didn't think I would like it at all and ended up watching two different movies in the evenings. Also easier to see some of the activities happening around the pool while up on the top deck.

Actually it wasn't anymore intrusive than anything else that was going on in that area. LOL Also we found lots of quiet spots on the Grandeur where we could sit and watch the sea.

  5. How do we get to the sea glass beach and is it worth the trek? We are cruising celebrity summit aug 31st and docking at dockyard. Thanks!

Someone posted explicit walking directions (with pictures) from the dock to Sea Glass Beach, but after extensive searching, I can find it! Can anyone help? Thanks!

  6. I did not see the shuttle on Sunday. I asked and was told that if we took the shuttle or #7 bus to Horseshoe, we would need to return immediately or on the same shuttle because that would be the last one.

The shuttle schedule seems like pretty shortsighted planning. If the purpose of the shuttle is to provide reliable transport for cruise passengers, leaving the local buses available for the locals, then surely the schedule should focus on when the cruise ships are in port. On Sunday we were the only ship in port, arriving mid afternoon, and there was no transportation to the beaches. For the Grandeur's sunday arrival there is absolutely nothing the do unless you take a taxi or cruise excursion.

Very helpful (although disappointing). Agree that we should have looked closer at the itinerary before booking. We are still really looking forward to our cruise, but I always think it is better when you have the right expectations. Really appreciate your posting.

  7. I am sorry my question was confusing and appreciate all efforts to help.

The new shuttles are not on the current bus and ferry schedules since they are not a part of that system.

It is my understanding that the shuttles are exclusively for the cruise market.

According to the websites i have checked, the Grandeur is the only ship in port on the sunday september 14, and it doesnt get in port until 3pm. I was hoping there may be someone from Bermuda who would know if the shuttle will run, and if so, what time it will run since I believe no other ship is in port to use it.

Please come back and report how it goes. We will have the same situation arriving on the Grandeur at 3pm Sunday on Sep 28. Would love to go to HSB if buses are running. Have a great cruise!

  8. Nice Pix. Never did sail on her, but I believe she was docked next to the Sovereign in Nassau on my second Sovereign cruise. Isn't that the ship with big windows at the back of the dining room that give a great view of the wake?

Yes, beautiful view of the wake. Friends we sailed with didn't like seeing the wake as we dined --made them seasick. I loved it! She was our first cruise --Nordic Empress 1995 to Bahamas, then again as Empress of the Seas.

  9. Restless Native Catamaran gets our vote.:D Zander Dill and his crew were terrific. This was the second time in the past seven or eight years we sailed with them. We sailed this past Friday to a cove where we dropped anchor and had over 2 hours of exploration time in the caves and island; saw many fish and some squid. Rum swizzles were served throughout as well as fresh baked chocolate chip cookies -- yum!

NYR Fan, did you book through the ship?

  10. I have 4 cruises booked right now and checked them all...all them very slightly more except one...it was the same price.

the WOW sale fine Print says new bookings only...but I called...and she instantly added the $100 onboard credit to the booking....so FYI....if anything is the same price....call and get the credit added.

Only if the price is the same? What if the price is now higher?
