  1. I probably know the question to this, but I'll ask and get confirmation. I am assuming that having a B2B under one booking number, we will still only be able to make advance reservations relative to our cabin category as if we are on a single cruise (not double). Is this correct? Not concerned about reservations but was curious. Can reservations be made for the second leg once on board during the first leg?
  2. Don't know if the questions about the photo academy are refering to the photo studio, but here is a link for Silver Wind. Scroll down to Public areas and then right to photo studio Best and Luxurious Cruise Ship – Silver Wind | Silversea
  3. What if I loose my balance? Will someone come to prop me up? πŸ˜‰
  4. Just an FYI, especially for those departing from Miami and possibly other ports near Total Wines. Total Wines will deliver your order (online) and if you are arriving the day or more before your departure, you can have whatever you want delivered to your hotel. Did this on a Panama Canal, Miami to San Francisco, cruise on Oceania last year. I got some six bottle carrier boxes from Amazon that easily fold down flat in our luggage for flight to Miami and had a case and a half of wines delivered to along with spirits to the hotel. Two-hour delivery. Also, very good selection and prices. Easy peasy. Put luggage tag on them and they arrived in our cabin.
  5. I understand your thoughts, but I can give a personal experience that could explain it "sometimes". We were on an excursion in Helsinki where the guide was always narrating with "we just passed" or "behind those trees" and never actually describing anything we were actually seeing. In some cases it was "if you were here last week". We didn't feel that we gained anything from her but frustration. One if the worst excursions we have ever been on. On getting off the bus, we were surrounded by others that thought the tour was great and were tipping. One of the rare occasions we didn't tip the guide but did tip the driver. Opinions, perceptions and expectations differ. Not commenting on your opinion or perceptions, but others may not have been of the same. Also, not to say, they just weren't cheaping out. Just saying that in some cases it may not be as it seems. Happy sailing!

    Butler service

There are those that can't even reach that standard πŸ˜‰
  7. Not flying out of KEF, been there, done that. Interested in immigration process, delays/scrutiny
  8. I can't speak for now, but on this cruise in 2018 the shuttle ran about every 30 minutes and picked up/dropped off at the highlighted corner below. No charge. BTW, it's also where the water taxi stop is that you can take over to a stop that is a very short walk to the USS Constitution.
  9. I've only flown to Iceland from Europe and didn't have to deal with passport control or customs. How does KEF compare to other airports for entries from the US?
  10. I second this. I use one of these as well. Put passports, credit cards, cash, etc. in it and it's tucked under my shirt. When I need to access, unbutton one button and slide it out. With a button a down shirt it doesn't show. After a rather physical encounter in Lisbon with someone trying to get into my backpack, I've been a bit more proactive (the person trying to get into my backpack from behind received a very energetic elbow in his ribcage and fortunately my wife was walking a few steps behind me and verbally alerted me to the attempt).
  11. We stayed at the Hilton Canopy in central downtown on our Viking Homelands post extension and had dinner one night at Sjavargrillid and had a fantastic meal. Probably some of the best seafood we have ever had. Also very nice ambiance and the service was outstanding.
  12. Not Vancouver, but in Duluth, MN on Polaris we disembarked via tender and the next cruise embarked via tender. The luggage was loaded on rolling carts on the ship and then transferred to a waiting barge by way of a ramp. The carts were covered to protect against weather or spray and securely lashed down. We were able to watch from our cabin. I would assume that Vancouver would employ the same strategy.
  13. The TVs do not have an accessible port and if they did, your firestick would probably be useless due to lack of bandwidth on the ship's network
  14. The international leg description for business class is clearly stated on their website and in all brochures.
  15. FYI, the price cap with SS applies to a single shot of a given pour. You can order a double, triple, ... and not have to worry about the cap as long as a single meets the criteria. In the evening, to save trips to the bar, I just order a glass of bourbon on the rocks with enough room left for a splash of water to take back to my room. Usually, by the second day of the cruise, the bartender automatically asks if I want the same as before.
  16. Really comes down to if you would prefer to miss the ship leaving without you because your flight from Florida was cancelled or delayed or you couldn't figure out how to make it a couple miles from your hotel to the ship at the departure point. Your call. Simple as that.
  17. Here's another one, rest area in South Dakota
  18. Inspired by another recent post, I thought it would be interesting to see things that you have seen on cruises that you deemed as "different". Here's my starter. It's from Antigua
  19. You are going to be subject to the same cancellation penalties regardless of payment method. With regard to refund, once you make your payment and cancel, in either case it is subject to Viking processing speed (less any penalties). Your decision to cancel does not necessarily constitute a viable reason for disputing the charge on your card unless you can prove that the charge was somehow fraudulent or the product was somehow not delivered.
  20. Air Canada ATL to Toronto to Copenhagen, Iceland Air Copenhagen to Bergen
  21. Not necessarily. Our Viking air for Viking Homelands routed us on the marathon route of ATL to Toronto to Copenhagen to Bergen. 23.5 hours home to ship. Viking insisted that was the only routing at the time that had business class available.
  22. Thanks, all excursions are included, so no cost. Just don't want to box us out of zodiac trips that we would really rather do.
  23. Sorry if this is a worn out topic, but my search yielded nothing. We have booked our first SS cruise (BTB expedition cruise, Reykjavik, Iceland to Reykjavik, Iceland to Kangerlussuaq, Greenland) August 2024. In looking at the excursions, I have booked them (usually only one shown per port available for booking and "Expedition excursions available on board). Am I correct in assuming that once on board if the Expedition excursions are more appealing to us, I will be able to change then? Don't want to book walk about town and lock myself out of getting out and seeing nature. Thanks, Richard
  24. We were on this cruise in June. Quite frankly, some of the excursions and guides were so poor, that we skipped our customary tips. Otherwise, we tipped a "reasonable" amount based on the quality of the service provided in our judgement. Regardless, tipping is a personal choice and you should just use your judgement as to the value they added to your experience.
  25. We consistently experienced the same on Polaris in June. One item of note that appeared on the WC menu everyday was the "Sausage of the day". I forget the exact term used but it was to be a rotation of sausages wrapped in dough and baked. We really wanted to try them, but they never appeared. Other major disconnects were as pointed out above.
