  1. Lesson learned on my first cruise, April 2009 Carnival Elation from San Diego:

Don't always expect the itinerary you book there is always that chance that your'e going to miss a port.

Our cruise missed Ensenada, Mexico due to the swine flu outbreak. We only stopped there for about an hour (no one was allowed off) to comply with the PVSA.

We just cancelled a cruise on the getaway and switched it to princess regal!  Saved about $1800 for a family of five.  Better cabins and itinerary too.  Love Alabama by the way.

My upcoming Princess Mexican Riviera cruise in April on Royal Princess huge balcony stateroom with beverage package, gratuities, coupon book and $25 OBC: $1169 per person (includes taxes and fees)

Mexican Riviera cruise on NCL Bliss in a balcony with 3 perks (1 bev. package a perk) $1544 per person (includes taxes and fees and service charge) + plus daily gratuities for the week  $101.50 .

Don't care how many bells and whistles Bliss has but  I followed the savings. In addition the ridiculous below average drink package on NCL has no comparison to Princess beverage package with the exception of the 15 drink limit but hey I'm okay with that.  No thanks NCL but I'm taking my business elsewhere.

  4. They could stay overnight, but they won't because of $$$

They want to open up the casino and shops.

It really bothers me how on the Mexcio cruises they advertise as "overnight" in Cabo San Lucas when it really is not an overnight. They leave at around 7pm and come back the next morning. That is not an overnight, that is Day 1 and Day 2

Crappy way to do it - after they release an itinerary and take bookings!

They’ve also notified those holding reservations for the 11/17 sailing out of Miami that it has been CANCELLED!!

    Thats Norwegian for ya.

I'm with you.  I'd climb on that ship with a bad attitude.  I don't care how much other fun stuff might be there to enjoy, I got screwed on this deal and this cruise will suck.   It's go karts or nothing.  My opinion anyhow.......

This ship is literally just that , go karts or nothing.  No basketball court, no ropes course, no sports deck, no rock climbing,no mini golf (like escape) none of that stuff for these kids to enjoy as an alternate to the karts. Sadly the next ship is being built the same way taking away that stuff along with spice H20 just to make room for these pay for activities.

Y'know, I wonder if anyone has tried ordering something that costs more than $15 and less than $30 and asking for two half-servings - in theory that would count as two drinks and then would be included with no upcharge.

So your double shot of Grey Goose - how about ordering 1/2 shot of Grey Goose - two of them - and then a few mins later going back for two more half shots?

It shouldn't have to be this complicated.

  8. NCL New Years Resolution: to NOT stop the nickel and dime

I wouldn't be surprised if they increase the price of the beverage package another $10.00 per day and maybe even increase the "gratuities" as well. They have already increase the Bliss week pass for the go karts from $99 to $199, steak prices increase in the steak restaurant. That's crazy.

  9. Honestly most of you are bashing other lines as if it were really that horrible. Yes they might have no similar experience at all to HAL but each line and ship is unique and different..  I have NO preference at all on any cruise line. I go where the price and itinerary takes me. For instance my upcoming cruise on Princess was the only one available during the week of my birthday from California so I went with it. If Holland had a same cruise that same week for less than Princess then I would have gone with Holland or any line for that matter.  I have tried several lines and ships and I enjoyed them all in their own ways. I've only been on one Holland cruise. Will I cruise HAL? I sure will if the itinerary, time and price are in place.

Cabo is on the same time as we are here in California.

IF you are back at the pier around 5 then you have ample time to get back to the ship before 7!

IF the ship leaves at 7 then you really need to be aboard by 6:30 to be sure!

Puerto Vallarta is usually 1 hr different than ship's time.

Just make sure you keep to ship's time and you'll be fine!!

Incorrect. Cabo San Lucas is 1 hour ahead of California time.

They have had this promo forever.  We finally just gave in and booked our cruise for November.  When we started watching this cruise last year, it was several hundred dollars cheaper.  I kept wishing this promo would leave and take the higher price with it.

I would never book a flight where I didn't know the details beforehand, it surprises me that so many people are willing to do it.

So many people are willing to do it because NCL gets them into thinking it's "free" when its really not. I too rather avoid the stress and book my own air especially since it seems that these flights fly you in the day of the cruise. Not to mention the high transfer fee your required to pay if you take their air promo. No Thanks.:classic_rolleyes:

I can't imagine what sort of telephone-game they play to train these reps. Lol.... in the MDR?

It's a fun show, and we aren't typically "watch other people dance," types. It's spectacular.

I have a feeling the rep might have been confusing it with the Cirque Dream show which takes place after dinner

We will be on the Epic the end of March and have reservations for this show.

Could anyone tell me more about the show?  The girl in reservations told me it was a dance show that takes place in the dining room after dinner but she seemed a little vague about it.

I have a 5:30 dinner reservation in the Manhattan room. The show is booked for 7pm so after we eat do we just stay where we are and watch it?

This will be my first cruise with NCL - really looking forward to it.

    Thanks for any info..

She informed you wrong. It's a production show that takes place in the Main Theater. When I was on Epic last month they had 2 showings at 7PM and 10PM  and also ran the show twice during the cruise (forgot which days)

And yes, its a dance type of show about an hour long. Get their about 20- 30 minutes if you want good seats because although you reserved the show, where you pick your seats is on a first come basis.
