It will all turn out as it's supposed to...whether you go or not...my first cruise in almost four years without my dear husband...was only so so at best....the stress from covid...testing..etc etc....and then sailing on a nearly empty ship...that was weird to me....I'm glad I did it...with oldest son and dil...and I might cruise again...but am just pretty wishy washy at this point in time....

Your Mom will be okay...she has people.....the kitties will be okay....Shingles near the eye can be tricky...my dil had shingles a few months ago...also too young for the shot.. I think..and it's pretty uncomfortable....

Whatever turns up...it will all be okay!!!!  Sending some positive vibes to you this am...oh...and we are under tornado watch here today...I am so over this spring weather....

Hate your Mom fell..and broke her arm...hope she does well...my Mom was pulled out of her chair at the Nursing home...OMG...broke arm right below the shoulder and they didn't do anything....but her health was pretty bad....I hope you can get thru all the hoops and have a good cruise....sending positive vibes to you...and bless you for your kitty work....I have a 10 year old calico who showed up on the deck...10 years ago...and a four year old solid black who doesn't get along with his "brother" he was adopted with...my son's other cat!   Anyway....love my kitties..and I can tell you do too!  If your on FB...check out Ollie Don't Care....son's tuxedo...he's more dog than cat!!

Catching up!   I've had company from Mass...for the past six days...I have 900 plus CC emails...lol..what with St Greg's review and Jeff's....They fly home tomorrow...been nice having company...but the animals and I will be back to normal tomorrow...Surprise surprise...Menthol cigarettes illegal in Mass?  Anyway cousin....on the hunt for NC T Shirts...Hurricane shirts...and cigs!  It's been fun!!

there are five of us siblings and this text ended up with all of us joking and laughing like crazy. He said he was picking me up and I would stay until August.

Glad the decision is made Sid!  I truly think you are valued at your company..and I could feel your hesitation over the whole new job thing...I think the friend being your boss would have been a huge red flag...another thing to maybe think about...you have many talents...you need to think about doing something on the side...where you maybe could earn some extra money....and sock some of the raise away for the future..although right now I'm  not looking at my 401K!!!  But just letting it sit there...the kids may benefit from it...and Carnival stock..Yikes....but it will go up again....any way....good day all in all!

Loved your opening post....one of my favorite songs...you probably weren't even born when it was recorded!!!!   I also love all the pre cruise details...cannot wait...Alaska is one place we never got to...DH didn't not like cold weather and did not like to fly....Hope it's a super fantastic cruise for you!

You will do well on the interview...and things will work out in your head...eventually...I do understand the issue with getting up at that hour....I think when you know more about the job and have time to think about everything...you'll come to the right decision!  sending huge positive vibes to you today!!

Agree with all the positive posts...you've got this Sid...however it works out...try not to stress over having to wait two more days...and good you talked with your boss....and you've got a cruise to look forward to!!!!

Good advice Sid....you will be able to make a decision when the time comes.   I have had Key West on my mind...lol...here's a few pics...it is truly a beautiful place...kitties and chickens what more could you ask for!  Plus a lot of bars!

We have also used these...you can use a plastic tie to attach them if you don't want to use the metal...but take tags out after the cruise...I left mine in...and the ink transferred to the plastic making them unusable!

We order food when we are hungry by the time it arrives we have forgotten about our hunger. Took 2 hours and two promises of call backs that never came to even put in a dinner order last night. 

Got permission to get the doc here tomorrow to get our letters of freedom. Actually cheap too. Cost of freedom is under $100. 

Hit me today that we will be able to hear the Cinco de Mayo celebration tomorrow but not participate. Well I'll likely start having minibar margaritas soon anyway. But still. I may have cried a little over this.

Sid…sorry for your loss…glad you were able to see him before he passed .  Thinking of your mom and the rest of the family. 

Have tried multiple times to post today...not sure what's going on...pretty wonky!  Sid so sorry about your Uncle...you posted a nice tribute to him and your family!...sending hugs....

Mkcurran...covid sucks....sorry...I forget..where in Mexico are you...how far of a drive...hope you're not real sick...hang in there..

Sid...know you have to make your own decision ...and decide what is right for you...but I'm another one living off SS and gov retirement...I also have health insurance from the state....I didn't get on the 401k bandwagon early enough IMHO...but still have a sizable chunk just sitting there...now that I'm older...I get an automatic distribution once a year but like Greg said...if you do take the job..sock as much as you can into whatever retirement thing is offered...for the last several years I also just took any raises and increased my monthly deduction...what you don't see you don't miss.  there is no way I could live off of my SS.    I feel lucky in a lot of ways...house paid for...and got a chunk of life insurance...and some stock...so I can't spend wildly...but I can pretty much manage!  Frank also made some investments that turned out okay...sadly though after he passed and I sometimes feel guilty...as I tried to get him to sell one of the investments several times....I feel like he is still watching out for me.

They had breathing issues from getting Covid in vitro, and had just gotten home from the NICU last month. It's so unfair and heartbreaking.

So so sorry....all the heartbreak just keeps on coming...I wonder when it will end...people I know who have been super super vigilant...now getting covid....prayers and hugs for this family....
