I'm planning on booking a massage on the first day of my upcoming cruise as its much cheaper than any other day. I'm unsure if taxes will kick in as technically the ship is in Fort Lauderdale. Reason I'm asking is that I was charged tax on a drink purchased at lunch at the buffet. Don't mind the odd drink being taxed but certainly don't want to pay it on a massage in addition to 20% gratuity. Perhaps someone on this board will know.  😊

I have had many spa services pre booked and done on embarkation day. No taxes charged. I did not even have to sign anything, they informed me that since all was booked and paid for (including gratuity) I was good to go.
May be different from other ports/states, but this was all from FLL.
    Enjoy the massage!

BTW we met last November on the Sillhouette at Linda's Zenith party in Blu.

Maybe we need to post a thread again for deal alerts like olden days.

Just looked and 8 days on adventure, last one to Bermuda from florida, overnight in Bermuda now with DP340 code, inside dropped to $840. Total. Sept 13.

That is because it is prime hurricane season price. If you wait till a week before  it may drop down even more.

When we lived in NJ, we have sailed to Bermuda every year in hurricane season because the last few days price was rock bottom. In the $400 ish range, balcony GTY always, once in ocean view. Mostly Celebrity. The TA we used then had these last minute deals. At times they would throw in the parking at port, which is great  if you cruise out of NYC @$40 per day or Bayonne ( don't remember $$) and at rare times a spa certificate or most times a dinner for two and OBC. Those days are gone!

We just got a Cousins Maine Lobster food truck in Kansas City. They were featured on Shark Tank. I have not eaten there but it's on my list. They have an app that tells their schedule where they will be around town. Pictures of their lobster roll look really good.

We have had one at a Cousin's truck. Lobster roll was amazing.

    Hi Greg.

We are top Loyalty Elite on Princess.

A one time mini bar set up.

    10% discount in the shops.

    Priority tender boarding.

Elite lounge has a limited food set up and you have to pay for cocktails in that lounge.

Last Princess cruise was to Hawaii in November 2019.

We were able to status match to top Diamond on MSC.

Our Royal Caribbean Diamond plus would only get gold status match on MSC.

Royal Caribbean Diamond plus loyalty is far superior to Princess Elite.

Royal Caribbean ships are far superior to Princess especially Oasis class.

We were able to match to top Black on MSC via NCL status. I do not like MSC one bit. Tried them 3 times and that seems to be enough.
We did Princess to Hawaii as well. I LOVED that cruise. It was on Ruby Princess. The only other Princess we have been on was the Enchanted. LOVED that ship and staff/crew on board.
Also they were much better to deal with and more generous (than Royal or NCL) with all the returns and rebookings and reshiftings during the pandemic.

Thanks for posting this Dani.  It is uplifting to see that people from all over the world is concerned.   I looked up the Dr and she sounds special and a great doctor!

I too see a Neurologist every 3 months. My next visit is 2 weeks from yesterday.  I will see if my Neurologist is familiar with this one.

The hospital where I see my Neurologist is currently experimenting with a new ALS treatment. The doctor in charge of it is part of a multi-institutional research team.

    I wish you the best.

Good to know. We have never sailed on Princess. I know my neighbors love Princess but I don't think they have ever sailed Royal to compare.

I also like Princess. But we like Royal and Celebrity and NCL too. Each has its plus and not so plus points. Hubby always says that Royal's perks are the best.

  7. On one of our sailings the cruise line flew the excursion group in a small plane. We thought we would never see that group again, but we did and they said it was great but a very very short excursion.

  8. Our experience was similar to that of the OP. We were there pre pandemic so not very latest. Someone from our roll call had directly arranged for a day pass for our group and that also included a room with each day pass.. Not the greatest of rooms, but clean, private bathroom/shower, early check in. Food was OK. No complaints. We liked it.

Thursday check  in starts for the first of 5 cruises on Freedom. Glad to see her back as a cruise ship, instead of a ferry boat to the beach.

Anxious to see what it will be like without my lovely wife by my side. It has always been the 2 of us up till now.  There will be friends cruising there with me, so there is that.  I imagine I will frequent the lounges more than in the past, she didn't particularly care for them, while I didn't mind them. WE always had our happy hour sitting outside the pub. I might see if I can enjoy a little wine, heaven knows we get enough free wine as it is. I think my step daughter hauled away about 5 cases of the free wine that we had brought home. Get to visit the LA  and try to change or stop the freebees.

Ken is rebooking the future cruises as singles.. Says They should be about 25% less than for the two of us.

    Bon Voyage!

The Christmas Prince is a trilogy of movies from Netflix staring Rose McIver. In 2023, we did the Brasov Romania post-cruise extension on a Danube River cruise and stopped at Peles Castle on the way. I realized that it looked familiar and looked it up, and sure enough, it was used for the exterior (establishment?) shots in that movie (movies?). Not sure if the actors were ever actually there.

Then, shortly after leaving there, passed this billboard 😄:

    Sounds very interesting.
I am not usually a holiday movie fan, but I will watch sometimes and this one I seemed to quite like actually! 😁So I will also look up the other two movies (you mentioned a trilogy). Thanks.

We are both still not feeling great. This virus has been very stubborn but we are slowly improving. I have had it for over a week now. I read where it can last 7-10 days.

Which Christmas movie did you watch? Was it a Hallmark movie I assume?

It was The Christmas Prince. I don't think it was Hallmark. But nice movie.

    Feel better soon!
