  1. It was ok. Basically tasted like some kind of Indian dish with tortillas. Kind of dry. Not inedible but not wonderful either.
  2. I disembarked the Crown this morning and enjoyed the vegan menu three nights in the MDR. Most of the dishes were good! In fact, even better than I had anticipated. There was only one soup that I didn't eat. This is definitely a game changer for those who eat plant based/vegan! They have not come up with desserts, however. One night, our server "found" a vegan chocolate mousse which was divine, but other than that there is nothing for us. Sorry, I don't count fruit as dessert. lol
  3. Disembarked the Crown this morning - there was NO White and Gold Party. I was disappointed but wore my gold top with captain's hat on the last night anyway! lol There was no themed party at all.
  4. I packed a black and gold outfit for that night. The best I could do. Sorry @Steelers36 - not THAT black and gold! 😅
  5. Thanks for letting me know! I'll have him check the alcohol percentage
  6. You may or may not find this helpful lol We're bringing a bottle of port on board - it qualifies as wine but hits different of course. So this will be the drink my husband and friends enjoy before dinner in the cabin. Granted, it's not as high octane as what you would be smuggling but it might hit the spot for you.
  7. The math doesn't math for us so we don't buy it. When I used to drink we tried it out once and found that we ended up drinking way too much. haha! It was great fun but we never did it again. Now that I don't drink alcohol, even with the other parts of the package, it doesn't add up to any kind of savings for us, not even close. And I LOVE that hubby doesn't get internet because he'll spend more time relaxing and less time on his phone doing business. 😉 Some people like the package so they don't have to bother with the numbers and that's valid too.
  8. Ok this clears up why I have never done MDR breakfast, nor did I realize it was an option. I am NOT an early morning person. As for those with sensory issues like me, we are usually on a cruise with at least decent weather and we choose to sit outside for breakfast.
  9. Thank you everyone for the info! We have offered to handle the luggage for the ones needing the ride - as long as they don't pack TOO much. haha! We still have our luggage of course. I will share what I've learned here and let them decide. MUCH appreciated!
  10. I agree with scx22. For that pier, a little later is usually better. We'll be embarking from pier 35 this time and that's the one that ends up with the horrible line because the pier isn't set up for such a large embarkation.
  11. I've cruised out of SF many times but never had this come up! We normally take the ferry from Vallejo to SF and walk to the pier which is about one mile. We are traveling with a friend who is unable to make that walk, but without going into the reasons, still wants to take the ferry over. I'm wondering if anyone here has found that an Uber/Lyft is willing to pick you up to drive one mile. I thought of the pedicabs but the issue is luggage.
  12. We have two balcony cabins on Caribe - Thank you for this info! There are two among the four of us that have very touchy backs and a lumpy, saggy mattress could ruin our vacation.
  13. As a singer of Jazz and The Great American Songbook, I LOVE to see kids listening to the music! We gotta raise 'em right! 🙂
  14. This is such great news!!! We won't have to work so hard to eat anymore. LOVE THIS!!!
  15. We were on the Ruby last year and we had a wonderful time! We laughed so hard when we read comments from people complaining that she had some rust on her hull. We had to go looking for it just to see. It was no big deal - I would have never noticed it. Some people love to complain. The beds were comfy, the cabin clean, the food good and the staff was excellent. We enjoyed the entertainment and games. No complaints at all! But let me say that we prefer this class of ship - it's a little smaller and simpler. We don't really love the mega ships with waterslides and central parks. 😉
  16. We don't usually fall in love with the food on any cruise but it's fine, not bad. I hope things haven't fallen off - we're bringing a first time cruiser with us this time! We did make MDR and specialty restaurant reservations on the app.
  17. I had no idea about the lilies - looks like you're not alone! Normally when I wear fragrance, it's a body spray and it goes on the back of my neck. The kind of thing that you should only be able to smell if you're hugging me or really close. I almost never wear the strong stuff. I'm not allergic but I'm sensitive to smells and I'm so very picky too. If someone doused in perfume hugs me and it stays on my chest I have to go in the bathroom and wash it off. lol
  18. There may be some confusion, I agree. But FWIW on our last cruise the medallion didn't always work for ordering drinks/food. It did, however, always open our door. Perhaps since then they have worked out the bugs and this time it will work perfectly.
  19. That must be so difficult for you. Sorry to hear that.
  20. Best cruise hack I've learned in a long time! Why have I never thought of it? haha
  21. Last cruise the app was really wonky and the medallion worked about 50% of the time on board. This cruise the app is much better but sometimes I still get the "loading" page that never loads so I just close and try again later. Sounds like the medallion is working these days so looking forward to that. There was a learning curve with doing everything on the app in preparation for the cruise and that can be frustrating, but we got it done. And since we are traveling with another couple this time we all sat down together to do it so they didn't have to struggle through the learning process. lol All in all, I think the technology is nice, especially when it all works - that's the caveat. I thought the towel animals were cute but don't need them, and the chocolates on the pillow are not really missed either.
  22. Haven't tried this on Princess but for my sister's birthday our door decor included a magnet with a small tin bucket from the Dollar Tree, filled daily with candy and an invitation for folks to take some. Didn't have anything taken from the door except the candy.
  23. I've never seen ballroom dancing on our Princess cruises but I'm going to look very carefully this time. Totally willing to learn to dance "backwards" to make up for the lack of men.
  24. We enjoy Sabatini's for the extra level of service, food a little more upgraded, lovely room and less people. Just feels a bit more special and romantic. We always go at least once.
  25. Only happened once with us. It was a spring break Mexico cruise. Oops! haha Every single chair, including ones not at the pool were "taken" by towels, books, etc. starting before 8am. One day I walked to a row of humanless chairs away from the pool, moved a book and sat down. After an hour I got up, replaced the book and never saw a soul.
