  1. Adonia, as she was when we were on her, has a lot of tables *outside* the buffet, at the rear of the ship, which are perfect for lazy breakfasts in the sun An omelette/minute steak/kidney station too, when P&O Bon appetit I’m not jealous at all Enjoy!
  2. Avril, I hope you’re sleeping soundly as I write this and will wake up feeling a little bit refreshed ready for the day ahead. Things always seem dramatic and dark in the wee small hours but let’s hope Frank rested well and today will see the start of the tests and treatment to get him back on his feet and your situation back to comfortable normality We’ll await the next bulletin x
  3. I’d like to second that sentiment Avril (though we’ve already had our *traditional* (post-C) Xmas Eve salad Niçoise) Happy Birthday to my fellow *bit lost among the Xmas celebrations* birthday celebrants Have a lovely time everyone and let’s hope for a great 2024
  4. Apparently, because of leap years and 365 and a quarter day revolutions, the solstice this year is today, 22nd, not 21st as we generally think So
  5. … and in theatres here, apparently I’ve seen reports from around the country of very unpleasant antisocial behaviour
  6. Thank you for your report It’s always interesting to hear how people enjoyed their cruise. I’m glad yours was good
  7. A special Happy Birthday to your Sarah from me Graham. 🎂. We Xmas birthdays have to stick together I’m sure you’ll all have a wonderful time
  8. ENJOY! 🎉 It will take you a little while to adjust. There’s a period where you can’t really believe you don’t have to get up and go to work - that it’s all a lovely dream. Then you settle into your contented retirement and wonder how you ever fitted work in to your new, busy schedule
  9. That sounds lovely! Yes, I remember fixing name labels in my Mum’s clothing & belongings & thinking that life goes round in circles. It didn’t seem that long since I’d been doing it for my children’s school stuff Next year you’ll have the fun of the care home Xmas party. I still smile remembering seeing Father Christmas give one old duck a parcel, carefully explain that it was his special present to her, only to have the reply “Alright. Now b*gger off!”. Bless them. But they were lovely do’s, with singing and mince pies and the staff’s children helping out and having fun.
  10. Sharon - thank you for your message Josy - do whatever you feel best doing Indiana - so glad your procedure went well and that you kept your dignity All three if you need a better 2024 than 2023 - as does P&O Sue An early Happy New Year to you all I’m a member of the ATE (awake too early) club today. About 3.45am, I think. Goodness knows why - I haven’t anything bothering me, or anything needing to be done today Anyway - Happy Winter Solstice everyone 🎶 Things Can Only Get Better 🎶 from now - or at least they will be lighter
  11. Ah - I suppose that’s been the case from Day 1 for those? Thanks. That’s fine by me
  12. Forgive me if I’m really slow on the uptake, but is 1 formal per week now standard across the fleet? I was quite surprised to find that when I looked at the My Holiday thingy
  13. Yes - I hesitated before posting, thinking that it’s rather too close to the truth for some of us. Then I thought that laughter is one of the best medicines, so went ahead Keep smiling Avril It’s very quiet here today - everyone getting swept up in Xmas preparations (or, better, early celebrations)
  14. Ah - I’d lost track & thought you had already had your procedure. Sincere hopes that it makes you more comfortable Roll on Tuesday!
  15. Morley’s is still in Brixton - and thriving, I presume. A proper department store Our crockery was Hornsea Saffron. Couldn’t aspire to Denby 🙄 @indiana123 - how is your pain? I thought this pic was a hoot. Maybe it’s just me?
  16. I’ve never been to a Warners, so I’ll leave others who have experienced it to help you there I did grow up very close to Cricket and can confirm it is very near Crewkerne station, so a taxi would be fine.
  17. Well Harry, you can’t stand an e-card up on the mantelpiece but you can certainly chat. I’ve spent the last hour doing mine, which included a long message to my niece in Australia. I think the character limit in a normal card is 1500 but they also do specific letter-cards where you can ramble further With the cost of stamps now, the JL subscription seems a no brainier. I think it’s £12 a year, slightly cheaper if you sign for 2 years. You’ll need to check - it must be a *second year* for me
  18. Sue, I am so pleased for you all Good residential homes are so good for all concerned - I’m sure Mum will soon find new friends and possibly new interests I hope she will blossom, and that you and John will be able to relax … maybe a nice Canaries cruise to put some colour in your cheeks? PS Attendance allowance is still available whilst she is in the home
