  1. The "new" USB-C cable just added more complication to my life. Apple, in all their wisdom, stopped including charging blocks with their devices. I had to find a USB-C block just for that one device. There's a lawsuit (I think England/UK) that is requiring Apple to provide adapters so that the charging cables are universal. My CPAP has its own designated adapter that will allow me to plug in the table lamp AND CPAP near the bed. It's all the other devices that clutter up the area. BUT...I have a method to my madness and it all works for me. I have a schedule (aka: Sheldon Cooper/Ha Ha), NOT.....
  2. The first photo: It looks like it is for the "European" Plug (220 - 250V). It looks like you would still need adapters. (I could be wrong). All Apple Products and most medical equipment are dual voltage and will work with this power unit. I have one similar to this by IKEA. It was confiscated by security in the naughty room. Hard to argue...and I lost the first time. Now I travel with "documentation" that it is NOT a surge protector. I have never claimed to travel light. Forced to when I am limited to one medium suitcase/weight. My cabin mate and I have 2 computers, 2 watches, 2 phones, and 1 tablet to charge. I do have a power bank. And I have a CPAP machine. I find the USB port on the lamp works fine for charging a phone, watch, or tablet overnight.
  3. Yes, All of the things I mentioned uses the Medallion app on your phone or tablet …that works through the ships INTRAnet. I was just adding more functions that @Clampram missed.
  4. I wasn’t sent the offer. I feel left out. But I agree, $80 a day is sometimes more expensive than the cruise itself. Did Princess hit a wall? Point of no return?
  5. @crazycatlady82 Are they following this thread or relying on you to report back to them? I’d send them a link and then stop being the middle man that they can blame when they are denied boarding.
  6. @caribill Thanks for crunching the numbers. Will this fall into the same category as the ice cream desserts and gym classes? There has not been much chatter about “them” since February 20th when the new packages were initiated. Waiting for the other shoe to drop.
  7. I guess I wasn’t clear enough the first time.
  8. I would love to join you on the LA - Panama cruise, but not in the Island. Will email you Kona stuff.
  9. Have you already reserved your Lyman’s ticket? You will have to continue cruising over to the islands just to get time in Hilo. Too bad the Captain didn’t head straight from Lahaina to Hilo and dock overnight.
  10. My experience in Club Class was different. After “getting to know me”, I was never asked for my medallion. I had done 5 cruises on the Grand. There was always someone that knew me from a previous cruise. Same with breakfast at the Crown Grill. There was once they used the app to track me down. “My” table wasn’t ready, so I went to Vines….to sit….and have a glass of wine while waiting. Jennifer hunted me down to escort me up to dinner.
  11. Thank you for a wonderful tour of Hilo….one that I have not been on formally. I could spend a week or more in just Hilo. So happy you took the time to explore every nook and cranny.
  12. I know that this does not matter since passengers NEED a passport. Posting this so people do not confuse “enhance” with Real ID. Enhanced IDs are currently only available to residents of the following states: Michigan. Minnesota. New York. Vermont. Washington.
  13. But, but, but, Princess is shutting down for an update as I write! Will everything be updated and in sync?
  14. I knew I hadn't lost my mind completely. Thank you.
  15. Wow...that's alarming. I uploaded a photo that I thought was a nice one. One person (muster station or somewhere on the ship) didn't like it and told me I had to take another photo for security. As far as I know, security still has the same one that I uploaded. At least that is the one showing up on my app. But to have a third party download and access to something as sensitive as your Global Entry photo, I would be concerned too.
  16. Thank you for getting back to us. Maybe you can ask the moderators to merge your threads to keep everything under one (so you can have all of your answers in a central location). I see that you are from outside the US. Hope you can find a good Travel Agent. Most US TA's don't charge a fee for their help. A good one will find the best deal for you. Now that we know what ages the kids are, you might get more specific answers. For instance, if you are looking for interior cabins, maybe find one close to the kids clubs. Ask your TA if Princess is running any specials. Sometimes they have 3rd/4th passenger sail at a reduced rate or free. Then you could bump up to a mini-suite and keep you all together. Consider if the beverage package is really worth 4 passengers? You might be better off doing ala carte. You can bring on soda and water if they are in cans. You can bring on wine. Is this a partial Panama Canal or full transit voyage (10 day or 15 day?). Are your travel days flexible? So much to consider. Hope you are having "fun" rather than being frustrated by the process. Always good to have some information in your tool box.
  17. Here's my take. You can leave it if it doesn't suit you. 1. Reserve a Specialty Dining time with the app and hope it works. 2. Reserve a Specialty Dining time of your liking, be charged on CC, and ask for a refund months later. 3. Keep you money and reserve a time when you get on board. Like any last minute bookings on a ship/you take what's left. The way I see it, money in the bank isn't earning a whole lot of interest at this point. And I pay off my credit cards when due so don't accrue interest payments. Simple solutions.
  18. He's a real novel approach to the beverage packages. Scratch all the names that confuse everyone. 1. Soda and more includes *wi-fi and crew incentive. (cost would be wi-fi $ + gratuities + $20 (or about 3 sodas). 2. Light drinker package includes *wi-fi and crew incentive. (cost would be wi-fi $ + gratuities + limit 3 alcoholic drinks. (say maybe $40) 3. Plus Package as is for $60 4. Premier. Package as is for $80 Brewed coffee, hot chocolate, bottled water, fountain soda unlimited. Specialty coffees would be a tick under paid beverage allotment. I haven't worked the numbers down to the pennies, but offering different packages on a sliding scale seems to be a responsible thing to do rather wipe out everything. AND yes, the computer "should" be able to tell when a passenger has maxed out it's drinks. * Also wi-fi would be factored in on an average lower than $15/day (Elite/Platinum plus non divided by group will yield a price less than $15....so the average maybe be $11). Just a starting point. I am sure others will have good ideas to modify plans.
  19. On the Caribbean Princess, Dolphin Deck is the only deck with Mini-suites. There are 2 regular balcony aft cabins. Not sure you would be able to get one of those two. Otherwise, you would have to either take an interior or a different deck. If you choose a location near a set of stairs, then it would only be a flight up/down for you all. I would go up to Caribe rather than down to Emerald for the balcony.
  20. @GK95 That's so cute. I think some pre-schools use them. Nice that it is packable. Thanks, I'm sure it will be useful to many.
  21. Maybe someone can remember, if I trigger their memory. It's been several months since I last cruised....and never had a need to turn off my location finder. But I "thought" each person could go into their app and turn off location finder. It is default to on with cabin mate.
  22. @Amandainsweden has started 3 threads for this one question. She last reacted to a post yesterday. Posters are giving her generic answers since "we" don't know the age of the kids. We don't know if there are third and fourth passengers for free promotions. Her concern for safety with kids in upper bunks....parents can sleep in bunks, kids sleep in twins. My best suggestion is to find a good travel agent and work with them rather than get random posts on three threads.
  23. I often compare my elite status on Princess with Mariner star on Holland (not sure how many stars) with my sister. I get way more perks than she does, even though her cruises cost a lot more. I get: ability to combine OBC ***** laundry ***** mini-bar (not sure if they get one too) I can't persuade her to move over and she is unable to give me valid reasons for moving.
  24. And this is why Hilo is my favorite town in all Hawaii-nei. The people are so friendly. Small town with huge heart! Not much has changed since 1959 when Kilauea Iki erupted. Entire town showed up, directed traffic, shared viewing spaces, and just exhibited the true aloha spirit.
  25. You are such a good friend. You've done everything you can do. Give up/throw in the towel/let go and have a wonderful cruise without your friends. Literally, you can lead a horse to water... Story: 4th of July parade on the East Coast. Blazing temperatures (near 90 - 100). My daughter dismounted her pony, led it over to a barrel of water, pulled the bit down, dunked mouth into barrel....no go...repeat.
