  1. Thank you for "fixing" the bridge cam. Did no passenger notice on the ship (in their room) that they could not see their location? Magical. I wonder if one would have been able to see the International Date LINE...if the camera was working......
  2. OOps...I knew I should have taken a nap instead of trying to do math in my head when I am tired. (15 + 2) / 2 17 / 2 8.5
  3. When I can't find anything on the lunch menu (I always see the menu the night before), I request guacamole, pico de gallo, and chips. Always satisfies. Why would anyone want Tyra Banks special dessert when they can order a Volcano at anytime? Now only if they had hot fudge....yum They can also do avocado toast in the morning.
  4. Cancel your order and buy it onboard.
  5. A certified birth certificate from the state department may also take several months to order and receive. Currently, it is taking 8 - 10 weeks for Hawaii...and that's a little state.
  6. First step: Contact grouponboardservices@princess.com Second: After confirmation, work with Loyalty coordinator once on board Third: Be sure to have a "roll call" sheet for your 70 passengers in the group and a way of contacting them if the venue should change. Group Services has always picked the venue, date and time (you could put in a request). Will it be a hosted (free) bar or a no host bar One hour will go by really quickly. Most events are held in the morning or late morning. Officers are usually invited to the meet and greet and 85% of the time the Captain shows up. Don't know about informal private functions. Good luck planning this. Do you know if all 70 people will show up? Percentage is usually about 50% for a meet and greet.
  7. @4bandeGlad it could help. Actually, our south port will have an outdoor market and 2 bus lines. One goes around half the island and the other goes around the other half. Cash only. Must try: tangerines, purple mango, pork belly, and of course...Kim Chee.
  8. And how difficult would it have been to add the coffee pots? Each ship has been through dry dock at least once since the Royal Class ships have been added to the fleet. Priority. Or in the case of the older ships...lack of priority.
  9. Not you personally. Sorry if that is what it sounded like. I was referring to the non-glitzy ships like the Grand and her fellow sisters. Princess has relegated her and her siblings to a lower standard and priority. "We" don't get the good coffee. "We" haven't had a new production show in 4 - 5 years. "We" don't have IC's on the Island or the Diamond and a pitiful one on the Coral. "We" have been sent to our rooms/countries far away. I love the Grand Class Ships and have vowed to not book a Royal Class ship. I may eat my words someday, but for now, I would like to be "treated" like "Royal"ty too.
  10. You are missing the point here (sarcasm/aka Sheldon). Mathematically (and logic)... IF...Princess became an all inclusive cruise (everyone with the drink package), THEN...the average of drinks would be reduced (those that drink + those that don't drink divided by total number of passengers. (Example: (15 + 2) / 2 = 7.5 drinks / less than the highest number) Followed by...less drinks over the entire cruise SHOULD equal a lower price point. ____ Then there is the inconsistency amongst the fleet: Royal = brewed coffee. low lifers get syrup. One ship gets the coffee package, other ships don't. This would all be settled if Princess would just provide a good cup of real coffee, for FREE.
  11. Late last night, LAX had a flight stoppage. Crazy weather. Me....missing it all. Getting some rain. A little wind. Missing the hail, snow, thunder, drenching rain. And I am just outside of Long Beach. Just the cold. I am so glad you got here on Southwest. They have taken over LGB. I guess that is a good thing. But sure miss Jet Blue. Time to get that drink...you are well on your way. Hang on to your britches...
  12. This is just as "clear" as some of Princess' statements. Just adding the link for you to decide. https://www.us-passport-service-guide.com/passports-for-closed-loop-cruise.html "According to law in Belize and Honduras, all Americans must have a passport to enter either country. The State Department's Consular Information Sheets for Belize and Honduras also specify that a passport is required. But Belize and Honduras are currently waiving the requirement for cruise passengers unless those passengers start or end their voyage there. While a passport is neither required to visit these two destinations nor to enter the U.S., it is highly recommended by both the U.S. Department of State and Carnival Cruise lines. And I remember a thread asking about a birth certificate. OP did not originally say that he had a birth certificate and an ID...but did not mention that the birth certificate was NOT a US one.
  13. @ellie1145 When are we tripping together again? Missing you and your travel summaries. Hope to see you soon. Malama Pono from the islands.
  14. I am a Grand Princess Cheerleader but the Sapphire is an excellent choice because of Skywalkers and a larger promenade deck. As far as a family suite. On the Grand, it is very forward; with a balcony connected to a interior with a living room. You will have all of the suite perks (breakfast and club class dining). But if you book the other family in an oceanview or balcony, they will not be able to join you for any meals. You are welcome to join them in their MDR or have dinner in your stateroom ordered through Room Service from the MDR. To be cozier, you could book up to 7 or 8 in a family suite. It will be tight with bunk beds and only 2 bathrooms. The living room has a sofa bed. But you will all enjoy the suite perks.
  15. Don't need to. I get them (lattes) free with my suite breakfasts. Plus I get bottled water daily. And 2 mini-bars. Outside of breakfast, I don't drink much coffee. It was a bargain at $40. It stretched my comfort at $50 (but hit the button). At $60 or more, it's a stretch to make it feasible. I'm glad it works out for some of you. There is still a large pool that really have to weigh the cost to the benefits. And just because I am in a suite, doesn't mean that I want to pay more. It is not the ability or lack of ability. It is a protest.
  16. I agree with you. It's fine for those that drink, but not a good bargain for tea-totalers. Break even point is 2-3 alcoholic drinks a day. I've seen passengers with 9 wine glasses on their table for 2 people. I can't imagine drinking that much (or a bottle) at one sitting. Guess us tea-totalers are in the minority. But I won't sound off on how minorities are usually on the losing end. I taught too many years where it was stressed that we needed to teach to either the lowest common denominator or the mass. Forget that the "gifted" or high learners were going to be the ones that were going to be the leaders and changers.
  17. I was able to FaceTime. I could view ring camera. Never tried to download/stream a movie. I could play continuously my online games. My cabin mate had some difficulties downloading daily cat photos from her cat sitter. On the same ship. In the same cabin. Different devices?
  18. When I was at the Pan Pacific (Vancouver), it was mentioned several times and actually in writing on a card given to me by the bellman. If I wanted someone to pick up my bags from my room and deliver them to the ship, there was a suggested fee of $3-$5 per bag (US $ or CD$). When I check in for a flight at Honolulu International Airport, I always look for a curbside porter to check me in. Beats dragging my luggage to a check in counter…then to agriculture for inspection….then to baggage drop off. You do you and I will do me.
  19. @Valiamo Yes, the rate increased on February 20th, I think. Notice given in December? There has been a lot of discussion on cruise critic. I hope the drop in fare was worth the difference. @Times PrinceIf you are on a Hawaii voyage, Medallion Net has been fairly reliable.
  20. I just tried on my iPad. No problems viewing my cruises or searching for new.
  21. They are now very valuable! A collectors’ item. You could probably have cashed the necklaces in for a free cruise to Hawaii. You will find the Jam’s and Reyn’s brands at Hawaii Macys. The only store fronts are on Oahu. google: reynspooner and jamsworld
  22. Really? Not doubting you. Blue Ginger and Jams are good local stores. And then there is Reyn's. I go to Hilo Hatties fo rmy free shell necklace. Accumulated many through the years. DId you know....they have them "marked". Tour bus/walk in tourist/Kama'aina (not going to buy anything). ABC / All Blocks Covered. They are one of the few places that you can buy small liquor bottles. @arctickitty Thanks for supporting the local businessman. Very creative and quite an entrepreneur.
  23. If I am not mistaken, there was a "Be Best" campaign not to long ago.
  24. Wow...that was a quick cruise. Thank you so very much for the entertaining journal. Looks like you got some me time too.
  25. I believe that only one ship (the Grand Princess) had Skywalkers removed. The other Grand Class Ships still have them and/or were built without them (but not removed).
