At some point (age is one of them), just getting on a cruise is the fun. Don't need to get off at any port. I'm reaching that point that getting on in San Pedro is more appealing than flying to a foreign county to do a cruise. OP has lots of options. If they want to do Alaska, ships sail from San Francisco AND Los Angeles. I don't know if Holland or Celebrity do anything out of San Diego. OP has restrictions. One requires a scooter. Not sure how portable his/her is. Need to get in on a plane and then into a vehicle. Those are huge challenges. I won't park my car outside (I have a closed garage). I can't imagine leaving my car in a parking structure for many days. This is no different than taking a cruise from New York, or Florida, or....

DIAMOND PRINCESS - LIVE / ON BOARD REVIEW 6 May - 16 May
cr8tiv1 replied to trintrav's topic in Princess Cruises
@trintrav What a lovely review. I did a Diamond cruise last spring. Perfect timing for the Cherry Blossoms. So far, you have voiced the same sentiments that I had when I was on the cruise. I had been to Japan before so skipped all of the excursions and did most on my own. It is too bad that Diamond "parks" so far away from the city. Please do me a favor. My friend is the Assistant Maitre d' on the Diamond. Yalcin can be found up in the buffet/Lido Deck. I just chatted with him and his contract ends probably when you get off the ship. Stop by and tell him Renee said hello. He's tall, bald, and will be wearing a dress shirt. Hard to miss. Good guy to meet and get to know. Thank you. -
I am sorry that you had to cancel your cruise from San Francisco. There will be one from Los Angeles/Alaska/Los Angeles. But I don't understand how you can fault Princess for the lack of infrastructure by the City of San Francisco. I would not expect any agent to be knowledgeable regarding a foreign city. I could not help you with your other thread and referred you to a local. (I think that was you). Good luck in finding a port that will be more user friendly.

Does Princess allow bringing food ONBOARD ship in port ?----
cr8tiv1 replied to Jetswdo's topic in Princess Cruises
I did it in Saint John and Halifax. Brought my lobster rolls onboard after checking first with security. They had a good chuckle. Saint John: Container kiosk way in the back Halifax: Building across from terminal -
As long as you have any S (suite) cabin, you can do the suite breakfast. Mini-suites do not have this perk. Are sanctuary cabins all classified with an "S". ?

San Francisco Pier 27 Parking Question
cr8tiv1 replied to mcrcruiser's topic in West Coast Departures
This is a question for @sfpd3000. Hope he will see this alert. -
I’ve only received one animal by request on Princess. I know there are staff that have this talent…watched them in the Piazza. Guess I never had the talented steward on my deck.

I travel with a CPAP and an adapter. The adapter part is important: make sure it has a European Plug (male) that will go into the wall...AND 2 outlets (one European for the lamp and one US for the CPAP). You will not need a converter since most medical devices are dual voltage. https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B004SY5O5K/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o00_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1 I used to travel with a small collapsible stool to fit inside the bedside table drawer. Now I take a small box that I can flatten to pack and open once on the ship. AND yes, there is almost always an outlet near/under the bed for the lamp. When I was in isolation in a balcony cabin on the Caribbean Princess, the bed was next to the desk with an US outlet. I also carry my own extension cord for short distances.

Yes, that sounds correct. I had a flight out with Delta. Delta changed the time. I had it timed perfectly. I could not convince Customer Service to waive my request. Thanks for providing correct information.

Funny that we all have different favorites. When Princess did this, they had 3 (I think: milk, dark, and mint). I would trade/give away all of my dark chocolate. Same with chocolate covered strawberries (which I don't like strawberries...and white chocolate doesn't count).

EZ check works for any flight leaving AFTER 10:30 AM and not a minute before (validated by experience).

UBER "may be" faster than taxi line. Some one once told me that taxi's are heavily regulated. NOT....i was cheated: oh, meter doesn't work, etc.

From the videos that have come out, it seems the Sun Princess has smart elevators. I just recently had experience with them in HNL. What a great invention! I detest the middle elevators where you have to push the button for the glass elevator AND the other banks. Then play elevator roulette. I've missed so many open elevators. Princess never had towel animals. There are a few who know how to, but by request or rare.

Correct....but ... we are "designing" the perfect ship to include all the things we would like to see happen by design or policy. This is just a pipe dream. We can wish all we want.

Have my parents been scammed by Princess Promotions?
cr8tiv1 replied to PastryPal's topic in Princess Cruises
The Future Cruise DESK/office is very tricky. They do not have brochures nor handouts to give to passengers. You may "look" at what they have, sometimes they let you take a photo, but will not hand you anything in writing for a promotion/sale. -
A 30 day LA to Sydney cruise is still possible. They will probably send a Princess ship to Australia to replace the Grand.

Best suggestion yet. You win the happiness award.

Thanks to everyone who have chimed in (or lurked). Too many great posts to "like". Maybe Princess will listen to our requests? We can always dream.

Live TransAtlantic on Caribbean Princess. May 4, 2024 - May 19, 2024

I really do not mind walkers on the Promenade Deck. I strongly object to runners who use this deck instead of the one above the Lido Deck. So refreshing to hear about the entertainers through the eyes/ears of a musician. Thank you. -
Several years ago, I booked a cruise to Iceland and Greenland on the Grand when it was first announced. Forward several months. Received a “move over, (sort of) to the Regal. Then again to the Sky. Very disappointed since my heart was set on the Grand. Disappointed, I cancelled. This happens in other industries too. I just reviewed my upcoming flight. I received no notice that the plane equipment was changed from an Airbus 350 to the dreaded Boeing 787. Had to spend a few minutes getting my seat back (they did reassign seat to one that I didn’t want). Princess should have given current passengers notice BEFORE the general public saw the Press Release. Another fail by Princess.
