  1. As part of their "save the paper" campaign, folio statements are no longer delivered to the stateroom. On the Grand/GEM class ships, there are kiosks to print out your statements...at any time. Or Customer Service will be happy to print one out for you. In addition, you can view your account on the app (but it disappears as soon as you leave the ship/screen shot is a great idea). I can't say what happens on a Royal Class ship (don't know if they have kiosks). Your hold will drop off in a few days. I just charged a portion of my final payment and it took 3 business days for it to go from pending to posted on my Credit Card account. Word of caution....do not wait until the last day to pay your final payment.
  2. Ship DOES NOT dock in front of/base of the Fairmont Hotel (Old Quebec). She ports at the "new" terminal (building),
  3. That's a pretty good chunk considering "Hawaii" wasn't even considered in the path. Congrats. Glad you were proactive in searching out the time.
  4. You indicated that you booked through a TA. (S)he should be the one to be calling the Resolutions Department on your behalf. An experienced TA would know all the ins and outs of getting problems resolved.
  5. I think you should ask the moderators to retitle your thread. Q re re-routing of world cruises Nothing indicates which ship/cruise line (Q is for Queen or Question?) is being impacted. Thank you.
  6. Is the current Marseilles tour the same as the one you are waitlisted? Not quite understanding the sequence. For simplicity: You are booked on Tour A. You are waitlisted on Tour B. It all depends: on when you clear waitlist AND if there is enough time before Tour A to cancel. Generally, there is a deadline for cancelling Tour A without penalties (unless a helicopter or other specialty excursion). I would not take for granted that Tour A will automatically cancel when you clear waitlist for Tour B. I have been at the counter when someone has cancelled and the next person in line got the space (not sure if waitlist was also cleared behind the scene). Be proactive and check constantly. If cancelled before embarkation, refund will show up on form of payment. If cancelled while on the ship, it will be refunded as refundable OBC.
  7. I am not adventurous and would choose the CB over the new Sun. I'm not into bigger is better ships. Granted, a suite lounge would be nice, but how far away would it be from your cabin/How much would you use it? I, too, saw reviews of the Signature Suite. I'd much prefer the layout of a Vista Suite with a much larger balcony. Choose your itinerary over the ship. Which ports are more important? 7-8 days are not very many in the bigger scheme of life. BUT...the Sun will have newer production shows (when they come online). Lots more pay for entertainment (Spellbound, restaurants, etc). Tendering will be an issue RETURNING to the ship on either ship.
  8. I would love to list foods to try at every Hawaii port, but unfortunately, this is not the thread to do it on. I would corner Tiki Dave or Lealoha and ask them for recommendations for some "real" local foods AND snacks breaks.
  9. I am so thrilled that you were able to get some good views. Kudo's to Princess for providing glasses. I had friends fly from HNL to Texas....only to get cloud cover for most of the eclipse. You got a bonus activity on your cruise. Good timing on your part.
  10. 1. You don’t “work it out” with the waiter. Ask to speak to the Assistant Manager of the section you are seated in. Request that you be in his/her section every night. He/she will take your order the night before. 2. Most, if not all, miso soups have some sort of fish base. Not sure the ship would have vegetarian miso onboard, but worth asking. What is the difference between vegan miso and miso? Most miso stock is dashi, a Japanese broth made from dried fish, kelp, and shiitake mushrooms. Japanese versions of vegan miso stock use dashi that only contains mushrooms and kelp. Miso stock in the United States may use vegetable, chicken, or Western-style fish stock instead of dashi.Oct 29, 2021 3. The Assistant Maitre d’ can always be found in the buffet. Ask him/her who you should ask about your concerns. 4. When I was on the Diamond, I was given a choice from a few, more Asian, vegetables.
  11. Only once did we get some kind of smell. Either smoke or cleaning agent. We had to use a towel and pillow to block the door vent for the night. That’s one night over many cruise days.
  12. Gift card credit is NOT refunded. It needs to be returned to the gift card. I hope you have hard copies of the gift card numbers/pins. That is a total nightmare (according to my TA).
  13. Your folio is a complicated one. Did you already start the insurance claim with AON? Much of the above list should be reimbursed as trip interruption. It will take longer than a month as AON communicates with Princess to decide to owes what. I don't know if you are of Medicare age, but that is the first thing that needs to be filed AND denied. It took Medicare 120 days to deny my claim. 60 days to tell me that I needed to resubmit with the itinerary attached. Then another 60 days to tell me that I was "outside" the US and denied the claim. Only then could my personal insurance and AON could start processing my claim. My personal insurance picked up everything Medical. Shortly after submitting what they paid, AON paid the rest.
  14. I am sorry to hear of your dissatisfaction with the lack of response you received from Princess. HAL seems like a better option for this cruise. I travel with a vegetarian room mate. After many cruises, this was suggested to us by another friend. Provide a list of the foods you would like to/can eat. Hand it to your Assistant Manager on the First night. He/she will work menus around your needs. Surprised at how well that worked for a 13 night cruise. She was very happy with the Assistant Manager's recommendations. We rarely used the buffet and found enough to eat at the IC and MDR.
  15. In 2023 ( summer and fall), the Caribbean docked at the new pier (not the one at the base of Old Quebec City). I think it is called Wharf 30. Quebec airport is very, very small. I took a Princess transfer from the ship to the airport. I was surprised how far away it was/seemed to be far. But there are taxis and would guess other ride shares. They do speak French….so be sure to have something printed out…Princess Cruise ship or Terminal address. Keep checking ship schedules for port information. Princess did provide a bus shuttle from the port to a bridge. Short walk to Old Quebec if you visit the city that night or next day. Is it an overnight stay? https://www.portquebec.ca/en/cruises/vessel-schedules/seasonal-schedule
  16. I am no foodie, but have had my share of good Japanese food. The Tempura does not resemble Japanese Tempura. The sushi in the buffet/MDR is not of great quality. To begin with...they use the wrong kind of rice. The teriyaki sauce is not a good blend between sweet and salty. As I have mentioned....get off the ship and eat locally. Lots and lots of markets to wander through and point and buy. Japanese are known for Bento Lunches. Buy a couple different ones and share. Only down side is that it is not hot. It is really easy to dine at restaurants. They have pictures next to the Japanese characters. Japanese pastries are really good too. By the way, you can get good sushi at each port. Not all are topped with raw fish (sashimi). They will have other toppings too: cooked shrimp, egg.... Do your homework and look up menu items onlime.
  17. You can always request for a hand held shower head on the accessibility request area on your app. Use large binder clips. That will weight the curtain down. It works for me, not so much for my sister who still got water all over the bathroom floor.
  18. I have no idea. I've only been in one swimming pool over that past SEVERAL decades. I make one trip up to the Buffet on Lido Deck once per voyage (maybe two). I'm sure others will be able to provide you with that information.
  19. The referenced YouTubers returned several times to their site to follow up on their MSC experience. They were able to do a zoom conference call with corporate who apologized profusely for the misunderstanding. The YouTubers have put this aside and all has been cleared. I am not defending MSC for this latest delay. It was something that was completely out of their control. As stated, the port staff that allowed the Bolivian guests to board is a good place to start. MSC could have required guests on board to clear required documents before the ship arrived (but then it would still have been too late). This reminds me of the long long lines of people trying to clear Covid forms before arriving in Hawaii post pandemic. Or Japan that made us fill out immigration forms for Korea before we got there. This is not as bad as Princess cancelling Sun "inaugural cruiseS" at the last minute. MSC was held up by Spain.
  20. Yes, the Lido Deck midship pool is covered (conservatory).
  21. The Enchanted does not have a forward enclosed observation area. Only on the Majestic.
  22. No, I did not. Much better sashimi and sushi off the ship. So much good food can be found in and around the ports,
  23. I was on the Diamond last Spring. Same minibar options. I am guessing you might be able to trade out for some Japanese beer?
  24. Correct...no difference. Only cabins with wider doors would be accessible cabins. No need for the other staterooms to have a larger door. https://www.google.com/search?q=vista+suite+princess&oq=vista+suite+Princ&gs_lcrp=EgZjaHJvbWUqBwgAEAAYgAQyBwgAEAAYgAQyBwgBEAAYgAQyBggCEEUYOTIICAMQABgWGB4yCAgEEAAYFhgeMgYIBRBFGDwyBggGEEUYPDIGCAcQRRhBqAIAsAIA&sourceid=chrome&ie=UTF-8#fpstate=ive&vld=cid:a9fbf61f,vid:NfagiatzRds,st:0
  25. Chiming in....I'm not "wow'd". I do hope some from Florida will find this enticing. Thanks for the full Press Release. Ho Hum
