  1. Congratulations, Commodore Nash. A promotion well deserved! We've enjoyed sailing with you on several cruises. Our favorite was the 49 days South America adventure in 2019. Jan and Denny
  2. Hi Bob: we sailed in R731 and our kids in R730 (aft Penthouse suites) on the Royal this past January. Yes, the sofa does convert to a sofa bed. The sofa left a lot to be desired in R731 - it tilted forward making sitting on it for very long, awkward. It was fine as a sofa bed though. Hope Princess replaced the sofa by now. Loved the wrap-around balcony. Depending on the direction of the wind, we experienced soot problems a few times, but it didn't lessen the "suite experience". We were aware of the problem when we booked. Jan
  3. We just received an email from Princess cancelling our November 6, 2020 Hawaii cruise. While we thought that might happen, it's still a little disappointing. We booked an aft suite for our 50th wedding anniversary. We'll just postpone the celebration to 2021 and hope cruising resumes by then. Princess is offering the following - a refund or double your deposit future cruise offer: We hope you will stick with us by accepting this special Double your Deposit Future Cruise Credit offer: Transfer the money deposited for your vacation as a refundable Future Cruise Credit (FCC) and Princess will provide a matching bonus non-refundable FCC for the same amount up to the base cruise fare amount of the current cruise (minimum $100 per person).
  4. Yum! I just gained 5 pounds looking at that dessert. LOL
  5. Thanks for posting the pic. The balcony looks lovely. I can envision a breakfast or two out there. 🥓 🧇 ☕
  6. Thanks for the info. We were on the Royal in an aft Penthouse suite in January. Had a bit of a soot problem and a couple of things from the suite above us landed on our balcony. 🙂
  7. XBGuy: would you mind sharing which deck your suite was on? We've booked an aft suite on Dolphin deck for our LA-Hawaii round trip. I'm trying to find out if the aft suites have covered balconies.
  8. LOL.....love your humor...and you're probably right!
  9. We're joining you on this Hawaiian cruise (hopefully). This was posted on www.gohawaii.com/special-alerts-information website. It might be an option for travelers flying to Hawaii starting August 1, 2020. It doesn't mention cruise passengers. Pre-Travel Testing Program for Out-of-State Travelers – August 1 Governor David Ige held a press conference on June 24 and announced an option for the mandatory quarantine for travelers that will begin on August 1. Details will be forthcoming: “We are working on an alternative to the 14-day mandatory quarantine that would allow a safe and healthy way for travelers to return to the islands. Today I am announcing that beginning August 1, we will implement a pretravel testing program for travelers to Hawaii as an alternative to the 14-day mandatory quarantine. Beginning August 1, travelers who have a valid negative COVID-19 test prior to arriving will not be subject to the 14-day mandatory quarantine. The quarantine will remain in place for those who choose to not get a pretravel test. The health of our community continues to be our primary focus and priority. This multi-layered screening process allows travelers to return and allows us to continue to protect the health and safety of our community.”
  10. We're booked for November 6th on the Star. I'm keeping my fingers crossed, but my practical side is thinking the cruise will be cancelled.
  11. If your cruise is complimentary through the Casino department, yes, payment is required as soon as you book your flight. We ran into this when trying to book flights for our 2021 casino cruise and decided to wait a bit before booking flights.
  12. Thanks for sharing your photos. Brings back wonderful memories of our January 2020 cruise in an aft suite. Loved the warp around balcony!
  13. We're booked for round trip LA/Hawaii for our 50th wedding anniversary this coming November. We're also hoping for the best!
  14. LOL...you comment gives me hope that I might be able to qualify for most traveled passenger some day. Love your humor.
  15. I don't blame you. That's a great price! 🙂
  16. Oh darn. We paid a $1,225.00 cash deposit for our 56 day cruise which was just cancelled. The booking came with a $1,500 OBC. If I'm understanding this correctly, we would receive $2,450 FCC and lose the $1,500.00 OBC.
  17. If it were me, I'd do nothing with the January cruise for now, and hope that if it's cancelled, Princess notifies you before final payment. In the meantime, I'd would look to book something out a little further. A March cruise might be nice. Just my opinion. 🙂 We were booked on the 56 day Exotic cruise (Southampton to Australia) for this coming October. With the Covid-19 situation, we felt our cruise would be cancelled so we booked a Hawaii cruise as a back-up for later in the year. We don't know if this one will be cancelled, but it sure is nice to know we have one on the books. Something to look forward to.
  18. Yes, and I tried both options - flexible and restricted. Guess I better contact the casino department.
  19. I'll give them a call. Hope it won't be another 4 hour wait on hold. LOL
  20. Has anyone booked flights for their casino offer cruise yet? I'm able to book EZ-Air through the Princess website, but payment is required now. For past cruises (not a free offer), I booked flights as soon as I booked the cruise. Payment for flights weren't required until final payment. That gave me opportunity to recheck fares and make changes if fares came down.
  21. I do know what you mean. LOL I usually make up what my hubby loses....so far. Enjoy your suite!
  22. Congrats on the suite....that's quite a deal! You'll love the large wrap-a-round balcony. We sailed in R730 in January. Experienced a soot problem a few days, but would book this location again.
  23. Today we booked the Enchanted for February 2021- doing the eastern Caribbean the first week and western Caribbean the second week. I was surprised we could use the offer more than once. Ocean views were booked so we upgraded to a balcony for $245 pp, $140 taxes and port fees pp, and $100 pp deposit per cruise. We're very happy cruisers! 🌞
  24. LOL....thanks for the photo, Cool_Dude. You made my day. 😄
  25. Thanks for your posts, everyone. Your positive responses have eased my doubts booking the Star. We chose an aft suite - D737. I'm a sucker for aft views. 😊 We've sailed on Royal Class ships the past several years, so it will be nice change to sail on one of the grand ladies.
