  1. "We decided to eat at Sushi on Five instead. I miss Bistro on Five, the crepes were always excellent on both our previous cruises. I know they did the replacement as Bistro was not earning its keep but, on this cruise anyway, Sushi doesn't appear to be well-frequented. We have eaten here twice but every time we have walked past the venue, it has been near empty. "

Just rechecking on an earlier question here if you dont mind --- was Sushi On 5 only a la Carte , or available as part of any Dining Package or any set price or discount offered ?

Thanks again for your posts - the menus look excellent.

  2. We are on Constellation for 14 nights and have a 5 night Dining Package . With just 2 designated Specialty Restaurants we were hoping Sushi on 5 may be included now ? I have read several posts here on C.C that suggest it may be but with a $30 limit - which seems a bit mean ?

Also read here that they offer a set $30 charge for whatever you like to eat which sounds better ?

If not these 2 options , I have read a post saying Sushi on 5 is not included , has no set meal price, but when not busy offer a 30% discount ?

Does anyone have a recent experience at Sushi on 5 - ( yes I know I should wait till we get on board , but pre-planning here on C.C is half the fun .;)?

  3. Thanks for the posts and review - we are on Constellation Feb 19 .

I have asked in a separate post about Sushi on 5 - Can you enquire if Sushi on 5 is included in the Dining Packages - we have a 5 night package ? I have read a couple of posts saying it is but with a $30 limit and another that says it was not included but offered as a $30 charge for whatever you would like to order ?I'm thinking it could get out of hand if we just ordered a la carte !$$$

Hope the cruise continues to be fantastic for you all .:D

  4. The five night package doesn't exist in its old format any more. You can book any number of nights and use whichever restaurant you like. I can't speak for Sushi on 5 as we didn't use it but our five nights on Connie were one in Tuscan ( didn't like the location and the new poorer menu ) and four in Ocean Liners, superb every time. Sadly Ocean Liners will become Tuscan after the refit in April/May and I believe Tuscan will become Qsine.

Thanks for that info , I wasnt aware of the change to the dining package - that does sound good and we will probably do the same -- except we would like to try Sushi On 5 also , but think the $30 limit ( quoted in another post ) seems mean compared to the offerings in Ocean Liners re the dinner package purchased .

Can anyone confirm this is the case - the $30 limit ?

Thanks again -- and how good are those food photos !:D

  5. We have seen at least two posts (on other threads) that explain it as follows:

If "Sushi On 5" is included as one of the specialty restaurants that you are required to visit for dinner, you can go there and select menu items that have a total price of $30 (or less) and leave without paying anything further ... BUT ... if you care to order items that cost a total of more than $30, then you must submit your key/card so that the "excess" may be charged to your account.

We have looked at the menu and found some desirable combinations that total $28 to $30, and we will probably not go higher. It appears, however, that it would be very easy for someone -- especially an sushi enthusiast -- to go over $30.

Can anyone confirm that Sushi on 5 is available in the 5 night dining package on Constellation ? If it is true that the limit is $30 it would seem a poor option given that Tuscan Grill -$45 and Ocean Liners - $50 , are the other choices?

  6. We had a concierge cabin on Millennium and received 3 apples which stayed on the table for the entire cruise.:( Sailing out of Singapore - they may not get the canape thing , although we didnt care anyway - still put on the usual 5 cruise kilos.

  7. Sadly I do agree about the MDR food . Just back from Millennium and the MDR food was very disappointing :( Great service from Wiratha and Rudi and a fine sommelier , Sever , but we rarely finished a meal . Looks like Celebrity would like to fill the specialty Restaurants - we may even use the Buffet next cruise in April on Eclipse. ( although finding a table there is a problem )

  8. Us Aussies are also feeling the $$$$ pain - big time - 68c US doesnt put a smile on your face when converting to US$

. We have 2 cruises this year with Celebrity , but now have decided to book with NCL in October as the pricing was much more in line with our $'s demise. Just an inside cabin now , but the beverage package still included , so a good deal. "Escape" may not be "Equinox" but I can almost feel a :) again.

  9. 12 Night Silhouette European Cruise September 3 2016 -- Our roll-call has just been informed that the reason there are no balcony cabins left available is due to a 1000 cabin group booking ,( 2000 cruisers ) set to board.

We have cruised before with a few groups of 100+ or so and no noticeable change to our trip , but 2000 would seem to be problematic for all the obvious reasons - taking over sections of the ship , dining , bars etc etc.

We are thinking of cancelling - does anyone have experience with a group this large onboard. I have tried the usual Theme cruise sites to see what the groups agenda is without success. The Roll-Call poster has not identified the group either . May not be a problem , but it sure feels like it at the moment.

  10. Au contraire - we are big wine drinkers!

I wasn't clear in what I wrote. I wasn't trying to say that any package should include unlimited wines.

The point of my post wasn't to say we shouldn't be allowed to order drinks (wine or otherwise) above the limit but to point out that drinks (again wine and otherwise) that used to be included in the premium package were now "just" a slight overcharge.

At home we enjoy many really nice wines but because of price inflation and possible storage issues we defer to more modest wines on the ship.

Those modest wines have increased more per glass on Celebrity than they have per bottle in our local wine store.

There was a Cabernet that 2 years ago fit in the premium package and last year was "just" $1.50/glass extra. Bet that same wine is now $2 to $3 extra.

Chamima - you speak the truth . The wine by the glass selection even with the so called Premium Beverage package is pathetic. I also do object to the term "wine snob " - I enjoy good wine - am not "snobby" about it -- and believe Celebrity can indeed do as they did a couple of years ago- that is provide a reasonable selection of varietals inside the package that is appropriate for those who enjoy more than the very ordinary and limited offerings.

$13;50 per glass should easily be enough . By recently removing wines and not replacing them devalues the premium package. Even requiring wines such as Dry Creek Zinfandel and Conundrum to be extra charges now(these were indeed previously included ) is miserly given the pricepoint these wines sell at. It becomes even more of a problem when you are offered the wine by the glass list in the Specialty restaurants.

I also agree that we should be able to pay above the $13;50 limit for superior wine if thats what we want - no-one expects a glass of Screaming Eagle for $13.50 - What I think is reasonable is that the Premium Beverage Package reflects the same quality for wine as it does for Spirits & cocktails & beers included --- which are excellent and still makes the package worth buying in my opinion.

  11. Just had success with one cruise - made a specialty restaurant reservation - YIPPEE!! Gave them some money .

Short lived however , when I tried to access our other cruise reservation - the dreaded " Unable to access your reservation - try again in 20 minutes " !!!!

Tried to go back to the first reservation - and no luck again . :(

WHAT THE ............... is going on .

  12. I was able to get into our reservation. It came up with online check-in 70%. I know it was complete before. I tried to complete it but it say Unable to save information currently. It also says our email & our emergency email is invalid. Now it's saying 0% complete on the online check-in.

Can I turn up without an xpress pass?

We will be turning up at the port without Express Passes as we cannot access our reservation online to complete it . If others are in a similar position it will be an interesting embarkation .

  13. After weeks of trying to access our reservations without success we are giving up . Its just too frustrating and I'm tired of being angry .

I contacted our TA and they advised me that it all seems OK on their side -- and they can access - they advised to try and log in as a new "account " and we were able to do this on one reservation , just the one time . Today , the same messages as previously encountered. We are still 89 days away from cruise 1 but really , we would like to participate in our cruise and make some shore excursions, dining etc.Even just being able to log in and properly access what we have paid for would be nice !

We will enjoy these cruises , but will certainly look elsewhere in the future , I'm tired of the frustration and angst each time .:(

  14. I'm trying to add a specialty restaurant reservation for my daughters cruise for her birthday --- really Celebrity , I am trying to send you some money .

I still cant access our 2 reservations either , nor my daughters , which is just ridiculous . We've gone from :( to:mad: now again , just as we did last time the website cracked up.
