Yes flying into John Wayne is a good idea and yes you will make a 12PM flight.

Crowne Plaza San Pedro or DoubleTree San Pedro.

Depending on traffic, SNA is 35-45 minutes from the World Cruise Center. Unless the cruise docks at 3PM on a Friday, then it is 90 minutes.

Thank you,  the cruise is a Friday but we are coming in a day early.

For the hotel, thank you, how far is either of them; it’s difficult to tell on the websites. We will likely Uber to the ship.

You bet!!! Have you tried flyin into Long Beach airport? Its awhole lot better than l a x. You might want to try the Crown plaza in San Pedro. Think, but I could be wrong, the long beach airport is a half hr from the pier, maybe an hr from john wayne airport. Those who also will answer might tell you the same thing. Right guys?

Thanks a bunch - we were hoping to try for Long Beach airport however, American does not fly into LB any more and we fly American (we have status so hard to give up).

I'll look up that hotel - thanks

  3. Experienced cruisers here but never out of San Pedro (we are on Navigator) in August. We want to fly in/out of John Wayne (SNA), trying to avoid LAX.

With that said - is it a good choice to fly into John Wayne?  How far is it to the port, will we make a 12:00 pm flight after the cruise?  Is transportation easy to find outside of the port, after the cruise?

Can anyone recommend a hotel for the night before the cruise?

    Thanks

  4. We are booked on the Edge, in a sky suite. My understanding is that we have access to the retreat area, drinks included and can have dinner in Luminae and Blu at no additional cost; correct me if I am wrong.  I also purchased five night dinner package, what restaurants are not to be missed?

This is a ten-day trip, as of now, we are required to test for COVID correct?

What else am I missing - I want to be sure we take advantage of what is offered and make the most of the cruise.

    Appreciate any guidance 🙂

We walked from the ship to Carlisle bay beach in November 2019 and rented beach chairs/umbrella.  It was a perfect day for us.  The beach is absolutely stunning on a nice day.  It is not very far at all.

  6. I have looked but not finding anything - we are booked in a Sky Suite on the Edge and are trying to figure out what is included. Do we need to make reservations for dinner, are drinks included anywhere on the ship?  We are experienced cruises but this is our first on celebrity and want to make the most of the Edge (Jan 2023) ten day trip - any advice.....

    Thanks  🙂

Around $125 or so pp..6-7 hours.

    Safe

Thanks so much - I have been doing some research, I have a feeling we will be booking a stay in St Lucia 🙂

  8. Hi - In all our years of cruising we have never been to St Lucia! We booked the Celebrity Edge for this reason 🙂 We are in our 50's and are fairly active - thinking of a private tour so we can see the Island and spend a bit of time at a beach.

    Without knowing the island:

    1) is this possible

    2) Anyone have recommendations for a private excursion

    3) Any must see/do while one the island

    Thanks

In December, our Suite Concierge was Ooma Gawardun. She is amazing. We did a B2B but our second week wasn’t in a suite and she went ahead and booked all the shows and activities for us anyways. That is just one example, she went above and beyond in every manner.

    Shows: (in December)

Showgirls (one of the best shows I’ve seen and I’m very picky)

    Tap Factory

    Effectors

    The Book: Seven Chapters

    Comedians

    Journey Tribute

Thanks so much for responding - We will have to put Show Girls on our list 🙂

  10. We have had several cabanas at Cococay - we usually give them something up front and then the larger portion of the tip at the end of the day.  We will be on cococay in a few weeks on Odyssey and have another cabana booked, this time over the water in Beach Club - so excited!

  11. Hi - we are experienced cruisers but have never sailed Celebrity (RCCL mainly) and we are considering a Sky Suite because the retreat area looks fabulous 🙂

If we have our daughter and son-in-law sail with us but not in a suite, can they access the retreat area with us?

Any tips for a new Celebrity cruiser and retreat perks

    THANKS

My sole visit to Amber Cove was a pleasant surprise.  I had no interest in a tour on the island.  I spent a few hours wandering around the area, visiting and speaking with the merchants, shopping for a pocket comb that I somehow had lost (and was surprised to find one for $1), listening to a music group in the central area of the site,  and enjoying a couple of well prepared Rum Punches at one of the cafes.  I hadn't expected much for this port visit and, as I said, I was surprised.

Thank you - Rum sounds good!

Amber Cove is not a private island, but a port that is owned and developed by Carnival. There is a pool, zip line, shops, bars,, restaurants, etc. There are also cabanas for rent, but not an actual beach.

If you want an actual beach, you will need to book an excursion.  If your group has no mobility issues and is reasonably fit, the 27 (Damajagua) waterfalls excursion Is one of the best we have done in over 30 years of cruising. There are several videos on YouTube that you can view to get an idea of what it involves. We used Marysol  tours and we’re happy. Iguana Mams gets good ratings as well.

Thanks - Yes I forgot it was not an actual private Island (more like Mahogany Bay) - That excursion sounds fun, thanks for sharing.

  14. We are sailing on the MG and stopping in Amber Cove - any ideas on what to do? We have been to other private Islands but this one seems to be lacking a lot, unless I am missing something. Suggestions on beach or something to do for four adults.

    Thanks

  15. All - Thought I would come to the experts; I know it is recommended for a passport, so please lets not go there. I have a friend who does not have one, wants to cruise and her trip stops in Antigua. I thought I read somewhere that Antigua was requiring passports for cruise passengers/stops, anyone know for certain. It is a closed loop cruise, has BC and ID  - can someone confirm or set the record straight. I have searched and cannot find an answer

    Thanks
