You can also walk to that beach in about 20 minutes.  We think it's a nice beach, and going and returning on our own schedule suits us.  Some of the bars and restaurants have people who will offer their menus, and loungers, while you are on the beach; you can take them up on it or not.

    Great info

    thannks

Don't stand in the long line for the water taxi tickets (on the main walkway) you can just go down to where they board and buy them there.

I would get off at the main pier drop off and go to the beach there, then at least you'll be in (near) the middle of town.

We were just there this past September.

    Thank you

how was the beach, clean? Do you remember the cost for the water taxi

  3. We will be in St Maarten in a few weeks. Last time we were there we did a tour with Bernards, so we are thinking of something different.  Has anyone used the water taxi, can you give any advice. How was the beach on that side, how are the restaurants/bars?

We are hoping for an easy beach day with some lunch and a few beverages......

Can anyone offer any advice - thanks

  4. We just returned Thursday from our cruise and tour with Ricky. As others have stated I wouldn't try to beach or caves during the tour. He will stop by Horseshoe Bay Beach for a few minutes for you to take photos if you ask him to. Ricky's tour is outstanding! Enjoy your cruise!

Thanks so much - can I ask if you were docked at kings wharf, was it easy to find him?

    Anything we must see?

  5. I agree with your advice. Touring the caves on a private tour it will take a lot of time from the tour. Better to do the caves a seperate day on their own. Ditto with the beach, if only to take photos, fine, but if planning to spend time at the beach it is better to do that on their own.

    Thanks for your help:)

  6. If you are going to a beach only to take pictures, then include it as part of the tour otherwise don't. I would not tour the caves on the tour because of the time involved in touring the caves.

I would tour St George's to include the Unfinished Church and St Peter's Church. As part of the tour, I would include the beach path that connects Horseshoe Bay Beach to Warwick Long Bay Beach and 3 other beaches. Have the tour guide drop you at WLB and meet him at HSB. Go to the iconic Swizzle Inn and have a rum swizzle.

Thanks so much I guess we were trying to squeeze too much in. We are definitely beach people and love the idea of being dropped at one beach and walking to meet the tour.

A rum swizzle is a must, is the swizzle in near the beaches.

    Thanks again

  7. We have a private tour booked with Ricky's - we can plan the day to do anything we want. We would love to do a beach and thinking of the caves. Does anyone have any experience with a private tour (or Rickys) what we should definitely not miss ………

We are also thinking about dinner out since we have an overnight stop; thoughts on a place for dinner near the port (traveling on the Sunshine)

    Thanks

  8. I'm not completely clear what you are asking but if you do a tour and it did not end where you started the tour then you would be responsible for the transportation costs involved in getting back to the cruise ship. Or were thinking of having the tour wait for you (as part of the tour) while you were snorkeling at TB? In this case you would not need the ferry.

A taxi ride from TB to the Dockyard would take about 1H 15M; by ferry the trip from St George's to the Dockyard is 45M.

Yes we are thinking of doing a private tour for the day, driver/tour company would stay with us - I'm researching what tour companies now. So there is ability to drive instead of ferry from place to place

Thanks again for your help; I am so excited to be going to Bermuda

  9. The most popular beach for off the beach snorkeling is Tobacco Bay so that it where I would suggest you go.

This is how I would suggest doing this, As part of your tour, make sure you stop at Horseshoe Bay. Then finish your tour at TB or King's Square, St George's. If you finish your tour at King;s Square, it is only a 15-20 minute walk to TB. You could take a taxi or shuttle (if running) for the same trip.

If you time your stay at TB, you may get back to KS, SG in time for the last ferry from SG to the Dockyard. If that doesn't work out, you would take the bus (or taxi) to Hamilton where you would take the ferry from Hamilton to the Dockyard.

Make an effort to buy tokens to pay for fares because tokens are not sold on the buses or ferry.

    Thanks very helpful

Silly question but if we did a private tour then they would take care of that and no need for the ferry correct?

    Appreciate your help

  10. You wrote "stop at Horseshoe Bay, Tobacco Bay and seeing the Crystal Caves", will you be stopping to swim at either beach or you just want to see the beaches? What you do at the beaches will have a significant impact on what else you can do that day. The tour of the island could include a stop (only) at both beaches.

We were hoping to see one, snorkel at one -could this be done? Which is better to snorkel

  11. I am exited - its our first time in Bermuda (group of 20) BUT what do we want to do.....

We are thinking of booking a private tour company - tour the Island, stop at Horseshoe Beach, Tabaco Beach and seeing the Crystal Caves.

Does anyone have a recommendation for a private tour company

Is this too much to do in one day

Day two in Bermuda we are doing an excursion through the ship and in the afternoon walking to a nearby beach

Anyone have any feedback; I am feeling a bit lost (but excited to be going to Bermuda)
