Cool Cruiser

Cool Cruiser (2/15)

  1. Long time lurker of your live reviews here. Finally caught up with this one, even while actually being 'live'. I was on the Horizon last December, really enjoyed the ship! Thanks for taking us with you once again!
  2. They'll probably just dock in the port of IJmuiden (25km or 15mi from Amsterdam) and provide shore excursions/shuttles to Amsterdam and other tourist attractions nearby (such as Zaanse Schans), so people still can visit Amsterdam during their cruise.
  3. I don't want to hijack this thread, but how does moving to the different cabin work? We have booked a cabin next door on our upcoming cruise as well, and am wondering how this works šŸ˜…
  4. When looking for the cancellation penalties, by coincidence I read in the cruise ticket contract that they discontinued the Great Vacation Protection: Section 8 (j) Guest hereby acknowledges and agrees that Carnivalā€™s ā€œGreat Vacation Guaranteeā€ program has been suspended and that Guest is not entitled to any benefit thereof
  5. I used the shampoo provided in the showers to wash out the t-shirts and shorts I wore to the gym on a cruise (doing a full machine cycle for two pairs of shorts and two t-shirts always feels like a waste of water and energy to me), without any problems. Just don't use too much shampoo and rinse well.
  6. Nice to see a @Saint Greg live review again! I'll board the Miracle on November 27th, but now I know I can leave my books at home and I can read this thread šŸ˜‚
  7. If they have the social plan too, then yes. If you want to text others on the ship through the HUB app, it's an additional $5 per cruise, I believe.
  8. Usually the QR-code leads to the PDF version of the menus that are posted online at several places already. The contents would be the same.
  9. Not from the UK, but also a non-US Carnival customer here. I'm from the Netherlands and have always booked my cruises directly with Carnival without any issues.
  10. Yes, your key card (Sail & Sign card, as Carnival calls them) are used to disembark/board the ship, for onboard purchases and as key for your room indeed.
  11. Not off Rotterdam today, but when we disembarked last week there were plenty of taxis waiting outside the terminal, and we were in one of the last groups to disembark.
  12. I am currently on the Rotterdam as well, and as of yesterday the captain mentions during his daily announcement that it is recommended to wear a mask onboard (and even outside when itā€™s not possible to maintain social distancing), except when eating, drinking or sitting down. Yesterday it was the first time he announced it, never heard the captain talk about anything of this during the earlier days of the cruise. but no one mentions anything about increasing COVID cases onboard.
  13. Iā€™m currently onboard the Rotterdam. Directly after boarding we went to a bar and asked if it would be possible to upgrade to the Elite Bevarage Package. They sent us to Guest Services, who told us it was definitely possible, but it could only be arranged through a bar. Went to a different bar, they called their supervisor, and we were told it was not possible to upgrade. Because of stories read here, we wanted to give it another try, so when we saw a F&B staff member we asked him directly. He said he was sure it was possible to upgrade, so he called to arrange that for us. But then he was told theyā€™re not longer offering the upgrade as of May 8th, due to a lack of interest from guests to do soā€¦ Long story short: not possible to upgrade your drink package anymore if itā€™s included in the Have it All promo (on the Rotterdam, at leastā€¦)
