  1. They were outstanding on the Getaway this past summer. They had a 60s night, an 80s night, Rumours (the entire Fleetwood Mac album) and prom night. EVeryone of them as good as the other. HIghly recommend catching the show.
  2. Well now....was just assigned my GTY Club Balcony Cabin. Not a bad location. But, given it's a Club Balcony, I didn't think it would be. With, the exception it's on deck 13. I'm not superstitious in the least, but for the first time in a really long time, thought about the number 13. Anyway......printed out my luggage tags, too. Not sure I'll need them, given I'll probably just drag all my luggage with me upon embarkation as I price myself in fitting everything into a roll aboard and a back pack. But, 'ya never know. IF the weather changes towards cold, I may have to pack "bulky" in a bigger suitcase.
  3. So sorry to read this. I'm afraid you can't board the ship. I would communicate this with NCL immediately at the number given above by @www3traveler. The next phone call would be to your insurance provider. This should be covered, and you should get your fare refunded. Depending on your coverage, not sure about your stay in the hotel (let them know what's happening, too), meals and incidentals. Since you're going to the Dr, as what precautions the family should take and what the protocol is for quarantining. Again, sorry.
  4. Well...that's unfortunate. Our Concierge was proactive in getting us into Syd Norman's. I recall for one show (I think it was RUMOURS) I was actually running behind. I had told the concierge I wanted to go to that show. He made a note of it and actually called my cabin to tell me he was leading our group to Syd Norman's in 15 minutes.
  5. This happened to my sister a few years ago. Had nothing to do with any work thing, but a death in the family. I’m trying to recall, but she disembarked in the Bahamas to come home. IIRC, it was costly….as in close to or over the cost of the cruise to leave the cruise early. Don’t recall the particulars, except she said she should have just kept the “in-law” in ice until she finished the cruise. She was kidding, of course (I think).
  6. Thank you. You’re kind. Good to you for being a volunteer. Your kind is few and far between. I spent quite a bit of time chatting with a couple of the park guides. I felt it would be a wonderful adventure to be a guide. Certainly would be a big lifestyle change. And, something I wouldn’t be averse to. One of the guides, the retired teacher, said she made more money on tips than she ever did being a teacher. It wouldn’t be about the money, It would be about the experience. That said, it means spending part of Spring, Summer and part of Fall away from family and friends. That’s a big downside.
  7. Gary….agree. Given the choice, I’ll always sail the Haven. But, this cruise, even though the Haven Spa Suite fare was good (~$4K), it’s still quite a jump up from ~$600 fare for a Club Balcony Cabin. Tried to justify it….believe me. I would use my previous ~$400 FCC, that would have brought it to $3,600. OBC from AMEX went from $200 I currently have to $300. Not sure what the Latitudes OBC would be, but assuming the same as for the Club BAlcony, that’s another $75. Another $100 OBC for being an NCL stockholder…..$475 total OBC for the Haven. Having access to the Thermal Spa for the week is also enticing. Still, don’t know what the weather is going to be like. Also, still debating the VIBE, which I’ll decide once I get a clearer picture of the weather forecast in a couple of weeks. The constant of the 2 bags of laundry service (one for Latitudes, one for being in a Club Balcony), 5 Specialty Dinners would still be useable, too. That somewhat mitigates having access to the Haven Restaurant. No matter. I’m sure by now the last available Haven cabin is booked. As always, thanks for your input.
  8. You go! Life’s so much better with changes. Let us know how that turns out. Then, give 2 weeks notice and take a cruise.
  9. I’ll chime in….this one was a little over a year ago, but a great cruise nonetheless….
  10. 45 minutes prior to the show is when the Haven Concierge will escort you to Syd Norman’s via back stairways. Your group will be the only ones there and will have choice of any seat in the venue, albeit there is no “HAVEN ONLY” seating area.
  11. I see! Nope….Don’t see me participating in that.
  12. This wouldn't have been a bid situation. My TA would have just booked the Haven Spa cabin for me if I wanted it. Actually, for the Haven, less her discount of $300, $4,027 all in isn't a bad rate for a 7 day cruise on the Breakaway. Not the least I've ever spent, but certainly not the most, either. Plus, it gains access to the Thermal Spa. Still, it's 9X+ what I'm spending on my current cabin. That's a big jump, given the perks I already have. Thermal Spa would be nice, but I can book that once on board.
  13. Would be interested in seeing that. I wouldn't want to be tied to a bid if I only wanted to see what the potential are would be.
  14. Having eaten in all the Specialty Restaurants NCL offers (short of the ones on the new Prima), Moderna is my least favorite. Knowing that, I enjoy going to LeBistro, Cagney's, Teppanyaki, Ocean Blu and the Sushi restaurants. So, there are plenty of other choices I can make. I just don't choose Moderna.
  15. MY TA knows I like me some Haven. She just sent me this note about this cruise with regards to what sounds like the last Haven cabin available.....
  16. I did the old "let's get you upgraded" thing on my upcoming cruise. But, it was in the "poor" range. If it was accepted (which I doubt it would be given the Haven is sold out), I would have been ecstatic because it would have been really cheap. But, if not, I will be perfectly happy in my current cabin. Bidding up to get a cabin I want? If I want it bad enough, I'll book it straight up without bidding. Bidding against another person for a cabin? Not something I care for. But, I'm not the target for the whole bidding thing, though. I book what I want from the get go.
  17. Ahhhh.....OK. I'm not familiar with the live bidding thing. Even on my sailing 10/30 on the Breakaway it doesn't show live bidding. So, perhaps it's limited. Besides, I will never be high bidder for an upgrade on any cruise.
  18. Agree. If the OP is looking for NCL to “upgrade” them from a GTY Club Balcony to a regular suite or the Haven, that won’t happen. OP, If a Suite and/or Haven cabin is available, you can either call your TA and have them price out what the upgrade to a Suite and/or a Haven cabin would cost, or you can go t o your reservation and look at your “Let‘S get you upgraded” section to bid on an upgrade to what’s available and what cabin you want.
  19. OP...in all frankness, there are a lot of variables that would enter to answer your questions. Your best bet is to contact your TA. Some TAs have a relationship with AMEX, some don't. AS an example, NCL direct PCCs do not recognize AMEX platinum perks. Your best bet is to talk to your TA and find out what they will or won't offer you. As far as upgrading from a Club Balcony to a Suite, again your TA would have the answers... If you're sailing 90-120 days from now, you can probably pay to upgrade your Club Balcony to a higher category, if it's available. But, as you get closer in to your embarkation date, the number of available cabins begin to shrink. People in here are generally helpful. But, your questions can't necessarily be answered here. The TA is who would have your answers.
  20. First thought I had was it was the last pour out of the bottle and they didn’t want to crack open a new one to finish the pour. STill, I would have sent it back. That would have caused a visit from the restaurant manager and probably net a quadruple pour. LOL!
  21. I’ve played a chip for the dealer before, too. I usually do that if I’m NOT WINNING. I know the dealers can’t make a difference. It weirdly gives me an alleged turning point with my luck. Sometimes it works (in which case dealer is happy), sometimes it doesn’t (in which case we’re both unhappy). 😉
  22. The question I have, was you bid in the poor, fair or good category?
  23. That’s pretty pitiful. I’ve found the drinks to be fairly strong on all cruise lines. That is something I probably would have sent back and then requested it be removed from my bill. I don’t think that’s even 2 oz.
  24. I've used these guys. Good service. https://www.supershuttle.com
