  1. Well....if Armageddon doesn't get them, the MRE's will. LOL!
  2. They all kind of tasted more or less like....well....Cruise Critic would censor me if I described them. LOL! You can actually buy them on Amazon. Not exactly sure why someone would want to. Apparently someone who has never tasted them. But, they're there.
  3. What? They didn't gently nudge you awake? 😉
  4. I usually let Customer Service know not to bring any chocolate covered strawberries. I appreciate them. They're just not "my thing". Seems they always substitute something else...other fruit, nuts, etc.
  5. Done it on the Bliss. Came in 1st on 2 "runs" (did it 3 times). Great time. Loved it. Lanes are wide enough for passing. Didn't see any "bumper car" type of activity. Slower cars tended to stay on the right. Just remember to stay right. But, that takes the fun out of it, in my estimation. The goal is to get the best time around the track. It's not just speed, it's going around the track a couple of times and finding the fastest "line" around the track. You're wearing a tight fitting helmet and the cockpit is tight around you. So, you're secure. But, if they scare you, there is no getting out half way around the track and walking to safety. If you believe it's scary, don't do it. Same with the "drop zone". I saw people turn around and leave while standing in line. Again, if any of this scares you, don't do it.
  6. Either that, or they do not dry the lettuce enough after rinsing it that it thins out the dressings. Generally speaking, they seem to not allow enough time for preparation of food and end up with wet lettuce and cold broccoli. IF you've ever done the behind the scenes tour and gone through the galley, they have pictures posted on the wall showing what EVERY dish is supposed to look like. That broccoli and salad are NOT what they're supposed to look like. Thank you for the review. It's great!
  7. Love....LOVE your itinerary. And, it's nice to take trains that run ON TIME, every time. I concur about your comment about jaw dropping scenes, and having picture taking scenes every where you look. The food, the smells, the history, the buildings (knowing most are 2X as old as our whole country). Just loving seeing this. You're not even ½ way through. Thank you!

  9. Thanks! A surprise, to say the least. Never thought about it, until they contacted me. They published my stats for the ceremony.. They look better on paper than they seemed at the time.
  10. Some how they skipped over me when they were serving it! LOL!
  11. Come to think of it, they didn't offer us any cookies while we were camping out. The nerve!

  13. Landing.....at LGA at 9:17 a.m. gives me PLENTY of time to get to Pier 88. Probably be able to meander around a bit, take my time. I'm using NCL's transport to the Pier ($75 round trip) . So, probably doubtful they will be around that early. Hit up a Starbucks and chill for a bit.
  14. Preparing you in advance to allow all the ammunition to be loaded for this post. I'M FLYING IN THE DAY OF THE CRUISE! There, got that mentioned up front. The method to the madness.....a long, long, long time ago, I played baseball for my high school....a 1B to be exact....and sometimes right fielder. I lettered and started on the team 3 years. In my mind, I was nothing exceptional in my own mind. They threw or hit it to me, and I caught it. They threw it to me, and I hit it...sometimes really, really hard. That's it. However, the powers that be must think that was a worthy accomplishment as they are inducting me into my High School's Athletic Hall of Fame. Only thing I can figure would be either my team mates have moved, or are dead. Took them a while to get to my name. Anyway, there's a point to this. The induction ceremony is the evening of June 15th. We sail on June 16th. I could skip the ceremony, but wouldn't that be in poor taste? They went to all the trouble and I didn't show up? There are others who are being inducted, too. But, I kind of really want to go. It's settled. I'm flying in the day of the cruise. Made my own reservations, as this is tricky enough without NCL adding a layer of complexity by booking through them. Moreover, my preferred airline, Delta, has 2 other flights later that will get me to Pier 88 one time. Plus, if I want to go from Cincinnati to JFK or EWR, there are 2 other flights that will get me there on time. Or, American Airlines has 2 more into LGA that will get me there on time. In short, I have backups on top of back ups if something goes amiss on my scheduled flight.
  15. They seem to be sending those letters out early. I got my luggage tags two weeks ago along with "the letter" for next month's sailing. Go figure!
  16. Yay....Allure of the Seas is my favorite Royal Ship! Looking forward to this...Thanks!
  17. That's a major truth! Not interested in any round, square, oblong, etc sad hash browns, on NCL...or anywhere else for that matter.
  18. So, the question becomes, and this is true of any product or service, comparing prices for 3 months, what is the fare/price? That’s the number you should be looking at. 35% off? 70% off? That doesn’t matter. The amount of money you have to pull out of your wallet is the key and the only thing that matters!
  19. I tell folks regularly that if they feel the $22/day/pp for tips for the drink package is too much, just don't add it to the cruise. This has gone round and round in these threads for years. Either you want to have it or you don't. Free at Sea (FAS) is made up of.... -free drinks, but you pay for the gratuities -free specialty dining, but you pay for the gratiuites -free internet (but it's limited by the number of free minutes you can use) -free excursions...there are some that will be free after the $50 excursion credit, but way more are more expensive, in which case they deduct $50 from the price If you look at drink prices, a cocktail will run roughly between $10-$12. A beer will cost $8-$10. A glass of wine will cost somewhere in the $9 to $15 range. Sodas don't cost anything. Fruit juices don't cost anything. Bottled water they charge for, but the filtered water out of the tap is probably more pure than anything in a bottle. So, you figure if you drink a couple of drinks/day, and paying for the tips on just the drink package is worth it. Hope that helps.
  20. I'm trying to work up some empathy for you. Let's see? Nope! Can't do it! 😉
  21. Please no! There is only one place I'll get hasnbrowns. It's not from any cruise line's restaurant.... https://www.ajc.com/entertainment/dining/your-guide-waffle-house-hash-browns/u6FvGwLoPboYIaz6hFukGP/
  22. I'm a betting man, and my bet those signs may last a few minutes, at most.
  23. Luminae and Haven Restaurant are more similar than different. Certainly the menu choices are unique to either, but the experiences are very similar. That said, I always ask people what they think would be appropriate? I don't know that Haven Restaurant or Luminae will be more or less tolerant than in the MDRs. I'm all for casual. I did a dance around my luggage when I didn't have to pack a tie or dress shirts any more. Personally, I think long pants might only have a place in colder climates. But boy, have I seen some swim suits (or should I say the bodies in those swim suits) under coverups (because those really aren't that good at covering up anything) that I'd rather not be subject to. Do yourself, and others around you, a favor. At least change into some shorts over the swim suit. Those who are dining around you will appreciate it.
