Thank you all so much for the help - feel like IF we were to get the package - I would drink more - just because -
BUT I agree it is about a break even!

Wansbrough shared on another thread a lot of pictures of Harmony (great pics by the way!).
You can see in one of them that they were selling the WOW Bands on a table beside GS

Can't believe they are selling these for $5 - we got them FREE on Quantum in E2 Balcony - didn't use them - we would rather use our Seapass card -

We are used to cruising on Celebrity (drinks all inclusive) and Royal (we get to drink free from 4-9)
Going on a 4 day Carnival in December and trying to figure if we need the Cheers package ($55 per day per person with tip) or just wing it?
We usually do a about 5 drinks per day - a Spiked coffee in the morning followed by a Bloody Mary - a martin before dinner - a glass a wine with dinner and an after dinner drink -
What are the prices of drinks on Carnival?
Thanks for the help!

Sounds like Joey's advice
I wasn't going to say anything....but you are right -
-
Exactly why we wait 3 months or so after a ship sets sail before we board -
too much to go wrong in the first 90 days!
-
Following.... can't wait for 153 more days until we cruise on TA out of Barcelona!
-
Thank you all for the advice - we figured that with the $$$ we could save we could eat at the restaurants that we want!
We did book 2C and upgraded to 2B but for $80 more took a choice cabin we wanted Port near elevator on deck 7 - Millennium for 14 days Pingxi Lantern Festivalto Vietnam - Twain - Thailand - Singapore - Hong Kong
Way too excited but it is in Feb 2018! Many cruises to do before this one!

A little help please from well seasoned Celebrity Cruisers - we have only done 1 Celebrity Cruise (inside) but will will be on Solstice in Aqua (A1) class this April for 10 day Hawaii - We are D+ on RCL so we know we are Elite on Celebrity -
Here is our question - When booking a new Celebrity Cruise we know we get to 'upgrade' on category but WHICH ONE?
We have not done Aqua yet so don't really know if the extra cost is worth it?
Veranda - Concierge or Aqua?
The cruise we are thinking about booking while onboard is 14 days Vietnam/Philippines and don't know how to even compare them?
Thank you for your help!

My husband has several medical conditions..if you get sick while traveling you can't always get antibiotics compatible with your other medicines...I am allergic to most antibiotics and likewise would not always be able to get an antibiotic. We don't take them unless absolutely necessary but on trips of more than 10 days or so find it to be a wise precaution.. and so have our doctors. We very seldom have had to use them.. actually each of us only once in our many years of travel.. but it could have been very bad if we did not have medicines we need. I think wise and cautious physicians can be trusted in this matter.
We agree with you on any cruise over 10 days mainly outside the US our doctor gives us antibiotics (he does know that we can buy them in Mexico and he would rather us have US made) He knows that we will use them ONLY if absolutely needed - we do not want to jeopardize our immunity to these drugs
Next year we are doing 50+ days cruising PLUS travel and pre-cruise - all will be in Australia so we need something- just in case!

Our doctor confirmed that the 'bugs' we both caught are airborne so no amount of sanitizing the cabin - or washing our hands - or not touching the tongs in MDR would have prevented this type of BUG -
Although we do all of the above - sometimes bugs just happen! :)
-
Well bad thing about the WOW sale is that they will not combine it with C&A Balcony discount :( So either way - doesn't matter! :)
-
C&A phone person just confirmed: TOMORROW for C&A members; Friday for general public.
(so stop calling :D)
I know - that is what they told me too! Even tried the D+ number :D

We are arriving on 11 Jan - late at Bush. Renting car next day from Budget - going to NASA Johnson Space Center and Diners Drive Ins and Dives for a couple days - returning car to Mall at Texas City on 15 Jan and taking taxi to port that morning for about $50 -
Since we are doing B2B it is about the only way to go - will use ship transfer back to Bush $47 each to get home!
-
Like I previously stated - we ARE relatively healthy - We DO go outside and 'expose' ourselves to 'bugs' - we watch 4 of of our 7 grandchildren before and after school and they bring home all types of 'bugs' - We intermingle with friends and family while home and do the normal - shopping malls - grocery stores - movies - church - MANY place with LOTS of people!
DH just went to check back in with clinic yesterday and the last time we needed antibiotics after 'cruising' was 2014 - We have done over 12 cruises since then so I guess I over stated the "50%" coming home sick -
Thank you all for the input - just try to stay healthy!
-
Thank you everyone - I was thinking that $47 is not bad considering that a private van company wants $50 round trip or $35 one way - that is his price for 'today' will check with him as we get closer to the that date!
-
The last time we sailed out of Galveston it was on a TA so we did not have to worry about getting back from port to airport -
We will be doing B2B on Liberty end of January 2017 and we have a rental car for the before trip -
Does anyone know how much Liberty charges for Ship to Airport transfers?
Would we do better booking one way with shuttle service for $50 each?
Maybe book private transport and offer it to others?
Advice?
Thanks

This OP thanks everyone for your ideas and opinions - that is just what we asked for on this forum - sharing -
We will try a few of these ideas but appreciate you all!
-
Thank you all for your recommendations - didn't mean to start up a 'war' f words - just hoping we could all help each other!

That you say you are relatively healthy yet come home 50% of the time with "something". Almost 50 cruises, also healthy and have come home from a cruise sick a total of.......0......times.:D
GREAT FOR YOU - how many cruises in how many years? How many air miles? How many hotels - rental cars - and other factors like your age -
We don't get sick when we are home - have all our physicals - Just had them before we left and we were completely healthy -
50% of the time probably was aiming too high - we have been on 30 cruises and if you figure that usually only one of us has come home with a 'bug' occasionally ??? So I would say each of us has come home with a bug maybe 3-4 times
TOTALLY HEALTHY PEOPLE do pick up bugs occasionally -
We are from CA so we must ALWAYS fly each way - we must spend a day or two in hotels before the cruise - we ride in taxis - buses - rental cars -
Not saying the cruise is what got us sick - just trying to see what other cruisers do to stay healthy -
-
We are relative pretty healthy people and don't normally get sick at home -
That being said - we just returned from 3 days in Key West then 5 days on Independence followed by 10 days on Serenade -
We did the normal - wash our hands - drink plenty of water - got plenty of sleep - used hand sanitizers and washed our hands again -
Both of us still ended up getting sick and had to visit the doctor the day after we got home..... virus and bronchitis. This is not the first time - I would save at least 50% of the time one of us comes home with 'bugs'.
We have heard - drink more water - take vitamin C- wear a mask - take echinacea - turn off your a/c -use a humidifer -
WHAT IS THE ANSWER? What helps you from bringing the 'bugs' home with you?
Thanks
-
We just got off the Serenade and had 9076 - one of our favorite Hump Cabins on Brilliance Class - oversize balcony - great location.
Yes we did hear some Centrum noise but not bad - We are hoping to book this cabin IF Serenade does Norway Fjords and TA late 2017

Can anyone confirm if "open bookings" are no longer available to sign up for while on current cruises? I heard this and just wondered if anyone can confirm that you must book actual dates now......
Last time we cruised - Sep 15 - we were able to book FCC (Future Cruise Certific) although they usually would rather you book actually cruise -
You can always book a 'dummy' cruise - book it as far out as you can and then you can change that reservation for another at a later date!
I just called the D+ Customer Support desk at RCL and they did say that this is NOT true -
You CAN purchase an Open Booking - it just means that you get less onboard credit -
That is why I said to book a 'dummy' cruise you can get more OBC and transfer one time before the credit is reduced!
-
It's just a waiting game - I have gone to cruise cal dot com and you can pull up all ships by itinerary - then it will show the dates and ports as soon as they are confirmed with the port agency itself - before release by RCL
This is how I found Harmony TA and our B3B on Radiance in Australia
before they were released - takes a little time to keep checking on each ship you are interested in booking....
But like Karen and all others state - probably released end of Feb/March and April!

For MTD reservations, if we are party of 4 and want to sit at a big table with others - do reservations onlne even matter? No option in reservations for the choice of alone or others, so we just tell them when we get there?
Also we have 2 reservations/cabins. When I try to make a MTD reservation and add the other guests and put in their info - it is saying it can't connect them (possibly because reserved with two different TA's?). So it is saying that I have to reserve them separately. Therefore how would they even know I have a party of 4, it just looks like two reservations for 2? So same thing, does my reservation online even matter? Super confusing!
We are traveling with friends on Harmony TA and our two separate TAs linked our reservations through RCL
I was able to make reservations for Speciality Dining (Jaime's) and also for MTD for all four of us for each day!
Just make sure your reservations are linked
2018 TAs & Repositionings - New Schedules?
in Royal Caribbean International
Posted
It seems like every year I spend longing glancing through cruise critic to find out any information about the new schedules -
We are booked through March 2018 and REALLY REALLY want to book the Western TA 2018 from Copenhagen thru Iceland - usually in August of each year -
Any scuttlebutt on the release dates?
