  1. We usually use Allianz. If you purchase as soon as you book, they cover pre-existing medical conditions. If you have to cancel booking before final payment, you have two years to reuse premium

My iPhone disappeared in Malta (lost or stolen) and they paid for a new one!!

We have always used Allianz through our TA but now that we upgraded to Citi Worldwide Elite - we are covered for $100,000 medical evacuation each and also cancellation etc - even for pre-existing conditions -

For medical we are covered under Tri-Care for Life (Military retired) even outside the USA -

So now we will no longer need any other policy - IF you travel quite a lot check with your credit card company and see what they do offer -or maybe upgrade or change cards

  2. We are looking ahead to doing another cruise in 2017, and there is an intriguing option in February out of Port Everglades:

10 night Southern Caribbean on Serenade - sailing to: Tortola (British VI), St. Kitts, Roseau (Dominica), St. Johns, and St. Maarten

Looks like a fun itinerary compared to the typical east - west routes, as well as a Southern itinerary without having to fly to San Juan.

We had a bad experience a few years ago on what was then the smallest RCI ship (Monarch). We have had nothing but great experiences on Freedom class. My wife is more sensitive to movement than I am, which is why I mention the size of the ships in relation to our experiences. :)

That being said, I am totally unfamiliar with the Radiance class ships like Serenade, so I am looking for anyones opinions on sailing on her (it would be us traveling with another couple - both in our 40's and non-drinkers & no kids this time)

We LOVE Radiance class and will be doing this itinerary 5 Feb 16 - our favorite cabin is 9076 - D1.

You get the best of both worlds in the Radiance class - feel of the smaller ships -but also the BIG ship qualities!

Just follow your cruise compass - there is plenty to do on sea days - we are not pool people (we have one at home) and we do manage to stay busy -

Internet service is great - no problems with that - we also carry computer and movies to watch on slow sea days!

Due to the stabilizers there is not really much feel of the ocean in the Atlantic and Feb allows for pretty calm waters down south -

  3. Yes I know. And you get the pick of the best seats... like the ones with a pole in your face. Studio B has many seats that don't have the best lines of sight.

We like to sit up at the tables near stage right - near the entrance doors - good seats - no poles :)

Merry Christmas to each of you- may your day be filled with family - friends - fun and all your heart's desires!

  4. Never had a problem with a box of wine in our checked luggage.

Not trying to be snotty - BUT just say'n we don't drink boxed wine

We take 2 bottle - buy 2 bottles before - in cabin when we get there and as D+ we get 2 bottle in room - PLENTY!

Merry Christmas to each of you- may your day be filled with family - friends - fun and all your heart's desires!

  5. We like them all - but when fly home back to CA - we usually fly out of MIA as the flights are less expensive - just take the shuttle - so it really doesn't matter which port - BUT we do agree Port Canaveral is less crowded!

Merry Christmas to each of you- may your day be filled with family - friends - fun and all your heart's desires!

  6. I used to work as the cashier for our local high school weekly 'benefit' Bingos but I have never been a bingo player -

Maybe I need to give it a try?

Merry Christmas to each of you- may your day be filled with family - friends - fun and all your heart's desires!

  7. Get excited - have a GREAT Cruise - after all - it is VACATION TIME! :)

We still get excited over all our cruises have them booked 2 years in advance and love the planning stage and the excitement that leads up to counting the days until we leave!

Merry Christmas to each of you- may your day be filled with family - friends - fun and all your heart's desires!

  8. I couldn't believe it. I logged on this morning to the RCI website to check how many cabins were still available on my March, 2016 cruise on Jewell, and low and behold, Cabin 7600 appeared. I had a forward port cabin booked (7036), and have been checking constantly for an opening of a hump or aft cabin. Called C&A this morning while still on the website, and had it switched this morning with no problem. (Happy Dance!!!)

If you go to 'sea scanner' dot com - you can use that page for every cruise line - ever ship - and find all the empty cabins for the cruise you want -

    1. pick cruise line - ship - and dates

    2. the click on 'availability'

    3. choose the cabin category you want

    4. the site will show you which cabins are available
