  1. Loved reading your post. Hope you enjoyed your cruise in Australia and New Zealand. We are doing New Zealand in November on Radiance. We have also done the Sydney to Hawaii cruise on Radiance (fantastic trip). I live in Australia.

I hear what you are saying about not cruising to eat, and feel motivated by how you handle WOE on board.

My first test will be a work dinner at Thai restaurant on Friday night, but intend to chose carefully.

So do you think you may have lost any weight while on board, or is there nothing left to lose?

Even just to remain the same weight is a plus.

You got this! Last cruise B2b - 14 days on Liberty - I only gained 5 pounds of water weight and it was gone in 5 days - then hit IF for a few days at a time and managed to lose another 8 POF before this cruise - I believe that my set point if FINALLY dropping - YES - I still want/need to lose another 30 POF to be withing the range I want- I started at 260 1 Jan 2016 and want to be down to 150 by year's end! that will be 110 POF GONE!

  2. those of you on keto, do you stay keto on the cruise? Do you take the week off? I usually cheat on vacation and feel like crap. Wondering if cruise food lends itself to low carb or a happy medium.

I have been LCHF WOE (way of eating) not dieting for 14 months now and 80 POF (pounds of fat) GONE! I do NOT 'cheat' as this is my way of eating everyday - cruise - vacation - birthdays - parties - going outto dinner - no day is different - I eat this way everyday.

We have been gone from home since 22 March and a total of 39 days onboard Radiance from Australia - New Zealand and now Transpacific to Hawaii through Tahiti - Bora Bora and French Polynesia :)

I have been able to continue with my LCHF WOE everyday and also IF (intermittent fasting). We usually don't eat breakfast but if we do it is eggs fried to order - English Bacon - Salami - and usually cheese -

We share wine and cheese along with assorted cold meats from the buffet in our cabin while we play cribbage or dice - maybe watch a movie -

In the evening we eat at the buffet where I can get several grilled meats - salad and maybe a vegtable -

The only "Cheat" you could say I have is wine - an occasional Bloody Mary (made with very little BM mix) and my drink of choice in the Diamond Lounge at night is 2 shots of vodka - squeeze of lime and Sprite ZZero - again NO carbs!

As for desserts - I have only had 3 and that was Pavlova - love that stuff - and if I really want a little 'cheat' I ask the waiter (or it is also at the buffet) for a small scoop of whole whipping cream!

I no long cruise to eat - I don't 'give myself permission' to go off my way of eating - THIS IS A LIFE PLAN for me and I don't want to go back --- BUT THEN AGAIN - because I have been off sugar and carbs for so very long I don't miss them.

There are so many reasons for cruising besides eating - making memories with my husband - meeting new friends - traveling and tour new countries - making our dreams come true - BEING in control of my way of eating has been a dream of mine and I am not giving that one up for anything! :)

  3. Hi everyone, back to this WOE after a frustrating two months on WW followed by an equally frustrating two months on Nutrisystem. Net loss from WW: zero. Net loss from NS: 5 pounds. I'm done clowning around. I lost 60 pounds on low carb two years ago, was floating along at about 30 pounds higher than I want to be, and thought WW and NS would do the trick. I've now gained and lost and regained the same 5-10 pounds more times than I can count. It really seems as though the only way I can lose is by cutting carbs to ketogenic levels. I know I'm in for a rough week but here goes! I've got a freezer full of NS foods to spur me on- boy was that expensive and boy was I starving. Forget it! 61 days until my cruise- I can do this! :)

You've got this covered - stick with the foods you know that work for you - first two weeks are the hardest and then the rest is just intermittent fasting and low carbs - high fats! ;)

  4. Greetings from day 9 of 13 on Radiance - We have had great weather for our first 16 days but today we got rain for our Akoara Harbor/Dolphin Cruise - BUT we did see Dolphins

Dunedin has been cancelled due to high winds in the Harbor tomorrow - and due to the Typhoon damage to Airlie Beach - the Great Barrier Reef is also cancelled - oh well - roll with the weather - :)

At least we are still cruisin' and having fun! :)

Doing well with LCHF WOE - following Intermittent Fasting for about 18 hrs at a time and one full day - have only had breakfast 1 out of 16 days - bacon and eggs (love that English Bacon)

Did have a nightcap 2 nights in a row and discovered that they are about 20 carbs ech - that is going to stop! lol

  5. I need a kick in the a$$!! Less than 5 months til cruise and almost 30lbs to go! I need to get back to tracking. Guesstimating wasn't working

I have only lost 5 POF before this cruise - my WOE did not change - but I did not do as much intermittent fasting(IF) - carbs were below 10 per day -

Total weight lost in the last 14 months 75 POF GONE! We get home from this cruise beginning of May so I will have 5 months to lose the next 25 - that will be 5 pof per month or 1.25 per week! We got this! :D

  6. Really wanted to lose more POF (pounds of fat) since getting home on 1 Feb - but I will take it - the inches continue to drop and I have celebrated 1 year with my WOE (way of eating) - People ask me if I "CHEAT" but I reply that my 'cheat' days include a glass of wine or two - have not have refined carbs - sugar or processed foods of any kind for 13 months now and 74 POF GONE~! I feel great!

We are packed and ready to leave tomorrow for our drive to LAX - night flight to Sydney - we arrive at 0745 Friday - lose a day - we will be on Radiance B3b for 39 days and a total of 46 days for entire trip - we arrive home May 6th! Then the next cruises up will be B3B on Jewel beginning on 16 Oct - 19 Nov :)

Will try to keep in touch via internet on Radiance - but you know that can be sketchy at times!

  7. I confirmed a cabin on the second leg yesterday. We would enjoy the first leg too, although we've already seen a lot of the area on an Azamara Antarctica cruise. When 2019 rolls around I'll watch for clearance pricing and perhaps add the extra 14 days. We've visited Buenos Aires twice but haven't seen Iguazu Falls yet. I'd love to do that!

    That would be fun! :)

  8. Just became D+....what free drinks on TA's?! Waiting to book 2018.

Sorry for the misunderstanding - On certain cruises that we booked on Celebrity - Eclipse - 10 March 2019 - the "classic beverage package' was included 'free' in the price - they do not offer this package as part of the booking in TAs or repositionings -

Hope that makes it a little easier to understand! Has nothing to do with what level you are with ether company

  9. More than a year?

We are booked out to 2019 with Summit in S. Caribbean Feb 2019 and B2B on Eclipse B2B in S. America March 2019 -

We like to book asap so that we get the cabin that we want and a great price - not really out of necessity - but just cause!

Waiting for RCL to open up which ship will be doing TA to Copenhagen in 2018 so that we can watch for Westward TA from Copenhagen and Fjords as soon as released -

Speculation is that it will be Serenade - okay by us - we love Radiance Class! :)

  10. Good find Audrilee - I may just need to pencil in a cabin for spring of 2019.

Come on Mindy and John and join us - we are going to have a good time exploring before this B2B - heard from cruising friends that the Iguazu Falls and surrounding areas (both Brazil and Argentina) are something not to be missed! Probably planning a 2 night 3 days trip there before the B2B

  11. Yikes! and now your post and the little  made me do the same thing! Well, I at least have a cabin on Hold...Thanks for the heads up, great opportunity to experience that part of the world, imho.

come and join us for the 29 days cruising and the pre-cruise in Argentina to see Iguazu Falls and surrounding area is something to not be missed but seen while there -

  12. While waiting for RCL to open up bookings for 2018-2019 I went searching in the now released Celebrity Cruises. Hard to pass up a great deal - we a couple weeks ago we booked Eclipse B2B Argentina - Chile (Around the Horn) 14 days and then Chile - San Diego -15 days in March 2019 -

We are wanting to take our adult son and wife for their 20 year anniversary and our 48th - in 2019 and sooooo since RCL didn't open up bookings yet - we booked 7 days on Summit Southern Caribbean -

Booked 24 Feb out of San Juan and when we get back into port on 2 March we will either stay a few days and then fly to Argentina for our B2B or fly out the same day and spend more time in Argentina and visiting the National Park and the Falls? Decisions Decisions Decisions!

The little  made me do it! :)

  13. Ours for Harmony was the same price as yours, a heck of a deal. Then, daily it sent up up up. I remember checking on a JS that morning and thinking it was $1200 more. I just couldn't see it. That amount paid for our amazing room on the Venice canals for 3 nights and all our food while we were there, precruise. We went a week on Vision before we jumped over to Harmony TA.

Karen - I will need to 'pick your brain' about Venice - we are flying into Rome on 11 Oct and flying directly to Venice for 4 days before returning to Rome to board Jewel for B3B - 34 days - including Greece - Med and TA home to San Juan!

  14. I thought I'd bring this to the top since it's the most comprehensive guesstimate we've had and we're just a week or two away. It seems like they came out late Tuesday, early Weds. last year, but we'll have to wait and see what they do this time around.

Thank you for sharing Mindy - we are really glad to see that Serenade will 'hopefully' be going back to Copenhagen - that is the TA we want to do late Summer 2018 since they bring the ship back sooner out of the Northern areas!

Which cruise(s) are you and John looking forward to booking?

  15. Just going by past years the "sales" we're their usual sales although they excluded new ships and China itineraries. Symphony will probably be excluded from sales if they follow past history.Hint. Watch every sale for the next 6 months or do and what the prices for Symphony are. With Harmony they did not artificially raise Harmony's prices on the first sale that she was not excluded from leading to great deals for about a one week period until they started raising prices.

We actually booked the Harmony TA the first day it was released - our D4 cabin was $1900 for both of us - and the price then only went UP to $10K - and settled back to $6500 after final payment - that is why we book 2 years out!

  16. Anxiously awaiting Aug 2018 Europe dates/ships - planning a multi-family trip and would like to know which ships - it will help make our decision between Royal and Norwegian. I'm not a big fan of the smaller ships when it comes to taking kids on cruises, I much prefer Navigator, Freedom or Oasis class - so I'm hopeful at least one of them is sailing from Barcelona/Italy. We cruise in a month and I really wanted to lock in prices then - but we shall see.

We are also awaiting the TA from Copenhagen - Boston via Iceland - Also want to pick up Norwegian Fjords!

  17. We booked Celebrity Eclipse - B2B - 10 March 2019 - Argentina to Chile - really want to see Iguaza Falls and then 24 March -2019 Chile to San Diego - figure that cruising is a great way to get back to CA lol ? :D

Still holding out for Fall 2018 - Westward TA - from Copenhagen via Iceland - hoping for Serenade

Other than that - I do not have any openings for more cruises until after Spring 2019 :(

  18. Welcome to our cc forum Lindsey - kinda small but we all have one thing in common - CARBS are definitely our 'downfall'

My body rebels against carbs so I just tend to leave them alone - too many other good things to eat like BACON - avocados - cream cheese - sour cream and oh yes - my go to snack "ChiChironis" - or pork skins!

  19. Just got home from 19 days including B2B on Liberty out of Galveston - maintained my WOE and Intermittent Fasting (IF) for the entire time - only ate breakfast 2 times and lunch 3 times during the entire vacation!

Did something that I have NEVER done before -stepped on the scale this morning before my water pill and only gained 5 pounds - know that is all water weight and will drop off in the next 2 days! Even looking for a little more loss!

Last cruise I lost the 5 pounds + 2 pounds by the 5 days after coming home from the trip!~

See - it can be done - LCHF cruising WITHOUT going off WOE!

  20. Tracy, you might find this helpful!:

    https://www.dietdoctor.com/low-carb/alcohol

p.s. Coincidence- we are on the cruise with you in 2018, and also on the cruise with Audrilee (Esahuma) later this year! Low carb people are everywhere!

    -Pam

Pam - I have studied that page and usually do 1 glass of wine at dinner - Champagne in D+ lounge (1 carb) and for my drink of choice: 2 shot of vodka on the rocks with lime and a little zero sprite!

  21. Wow! That's fantastic. Way to go! I'm in a plateau. Trying not to get discouraged

Sent from my iPhone using Forums

Tracy - I had many many plateaus over the last year = hang in there - :o

It seems like me body would just hold the weight like, "NO I WILL NOT GIVE UP THE POUNDS" then all of a sudden "Whosh" 2 more POF gone! :)

We leave for B2B on Liberty out of Galveston this week so I know I will not lose - but with my WOE I will not gain anything more than water-weight and it drops off in about 1 week! :D
