  1. That is still a lot of ships in Asia! And a lot of gambling. ;)

I agree Karen and Carol - but follow the BIG $$$ - when we did the Mariner TA it was on the way to the Asia market - the casino was closed the first week as almost every slot machine was trashed and all Asian machines were installed along with HIGH Roller area - many ship store were replaced with HIGH END shopping - brand name stores- Seems that the Asian market has HIGH disposal $$$ to spend on cruising - entertainment - shopping and gambling!

  2. Way to go! I upped my fat a little and amazingly have been losing almost a pound a day. Added bullet proof coffee. Coffee with a tablespoon of coconut oil and a tablespoon of kerrygold butter. I add a little heavy cream and truvia too. Gives me tons of energy

WOW - Good for you- 1 POF gone per day is great! :)

Unfortunately Coconut and I don't get along - it is one of my few allergies - so I use butter and heavy whipping cream - LOVE BPC -

Have it in the mornings while cruising instead of breakfast some times

Here another 'tactic' I use in the MDR - while my dinner companions fill up on rolls and butter before dinner - I just eat a serving of butter - ups my fats and helps to satisfy me before I eat - so I eat less!

  3. Are you asking about O4? If not, I always try and book as early as possible, just my thoughts. As retirement approaches this spring, I doubt we'll ever have such a backlog of cruises again. We will probably book a few key sailings far in advance, pick up some that have friends aboard, and the rest will be last minute deals as they appear. I may even do the 3 hour drive to South FL.

We are looking to book TA from Copenhagen in 2018 so I assume that will be release in March/April 2017? That was my question - but I want to get FULL OBC from booking while onboard - so I think the best option would be to book while on Liberty 15-29 Jan 2017 as far out as possible and then transfer the booking to the Copenhagen TA when it is released?

  4. Yes, the last line was in jest, but I do like your reason.

So John - We are waiting to book late summer/early Fall TA from Copenhagen - Iceland (hope RCL will have it)

Probably be released late March 2017-Early April 2017? We will be boarding Radiance 26 March - 5 May for 39 Days -

Think we would be okay waiting until then or would we be safer booking while on Liberty 15-19 Jan 2017 as far out as possible and then switching - just to make sure we get the extra OBC? I know they will allow you to switch once?

  5. Still going strong! I like the ideal protein but found another that looks good too and you can have cheese! Ketogenic success fb group. Still low carb. Less strict. Will keep doing what I'm doing until I plateau then mat switch it up. The last 2 weeks I've only lost 1 lbs each week but it's still a loss and have lost inches too!

I agree with you Tracy - slow and steady - I have lost sooooo many inches - and finally can say I have lost 61 POF (Pounds of fat) in 11 months - that is about 1.35 POF per week - will take that! I am going for the same goal this year - 1.25 POF per week - that is still 65 POF total per year - I only need to lose about 50 POF so all totaled that will be 112 GONE!

  6. Awesome! I love it. It's been so easy. I did try it once before and has trouble because I kept cheating. This time I'm 5 weeks in no cheats. Having my first cruise coming up is certainly helping me to stay motivated too! If you can get Janevas cookbook too it's a big help. There's a fb page for that too with recipes!

Good for you - if you have made it 5 weeks - then you have the 'taste' and cravings for sugar and carbs gone - just don't go back!

  7. I'm on ideal protein which is no or little carbs and adequate protein. Loving it. Have lost 17 lbs in 3 weeks. Plan to continue through the holidays. My first cruise is planned for Feb12. I like what I'm eating and I like how I feel. However I do want to drink on the cruise and maybe have some desserts. I can do without bread and potatoes. I'm already concerned about how to drink and not get sick Will probably have to test it a couple of weeks before the cruise.

I also drank - We are D+ so had Sprite Zero with Vodka and Lime - no carbs and only 100 cals per drink -

Although I did not do desserts - I have heaving whipping cream every night - maybe 1 or 2 carbs and then after-dinner drink of Frangelico and Bailey's = equal carbs - that that is the only 'known' carbs I had!

  8. Yahoo! Dropped the 5 pounds of water weight gained on the trip PLUS 3 more POF (pounds of fat) all this within the first week home from 26 days vacation and cruising!

See you can still stay with you WOE (way of eating) and lose weight while on vacation! (Or at least not gain)

  9. Thank you guys.

This is the skillet bread recipe link-it's a great recipe site!

    http://alldayidreamaboutfood.com/?s=cheesy+skillet+bread

I adapted the recipe a bit-reduced the almond milk to 1/2 c. and also split the batter into 2 portions, baking them in 2 foil pie pans. Makes 12 very filling slices.

I found the original recipe too moist and thick. So this works to give a more bread-like texture, plus when you warm it up again in the oven it gets drier and even more like bread. It's great as a stuffing too, or to soak up 'gravy'.

I've also made it with mild white cheese like havarti instead of cheddar when I want something that goes with foods other than savoury.

Thanks Pam - going to give this a try! :)

  10. Hi Audrilee! We're very happy to have found this method, too. Just finished baking a batch of cheesy skillet bread, Ray's favourite of the 'bread' recipes so far!

Are you able to get 18% or heavy cream anywhere on your cruises? I like that for coffee and it's not always easy to find!

I will need to look that recipe up - I also make the 'cheese crackers' - (Fried cheese) to use as chips! I usually skip the cream BUT was able to get full whipping cream as my dessert every night in a little dish - it was whipped to the consistency of 'just about butter' and was so creamy and delicious! Everyone else ate dessert every night and I had my whipped cream! You might try that when in the MDR for your coffee?

Making 'wilted lettuce' salad with peppered bacon for dinner tonight!

  11. We are also fans of Dr Jason Fung - his book is so informative (The Obesity Code), and we use intermittent fasting as well as keto. Another good book is Keto Clarity by Jimmy Moore. Both will give you many links to related websites and cook books. Dietdoctor.com is great and also provides many recipes and carb guidelines.Plenty of good fat in your diet is key, and stevia works for us too.

We started fasting/ keto diet the last week of February. My hubby was getting dangerously high blood sugar levels and the dr. wanted him on more pills...but DH wants fewer pills..so we researched on our own and found this. Well, by his next blood test 6 weeks later, the dr says "what did you do?" Seems that everything 'bad' dropped quite a bit! In the meantime, the dr had already set him up with an endocrinologist to go over his insulin levels. So he went, even though things were improving. The specialist told him "there is nothing I could have given you that would have worked as well or as quickly as what you did-so keep doing it! " And no future appts required for the specialist.

The great side effect was weight loss! I take no Rxs, but like many women of 'a certain age', the waistline had gradually gotten larger, and 'dieting' did not help at all. It was frustrating.

So we started keto and fasting and stuck to it, quite strictly low carb. We had no bread, desserts, pasta, etc for months. The first slice of pie I had was in Sept. when I visited Mom..baker extrordinaire.. I have lost 40 lbs. and reached my goal weight. We still keep carbs between strict and moderate levels, and fast. This Dec will be my first cruise since all of this began, so I know I can enjoy myself and still fast when I get home!

The funny thing is though, you don't want sweet stuff after you do this. When you eat something like a chocolate or candy bar, you cannot believe how sickenly sweet it tastes after you've reset your blood sugar levels, and you don't want it anymore.

Pam - CONGRATULATIONS to you both! I also went with Diet Doctor .com mid Feb and read Obesity Code in March - did the 16 days in Hawaii and on Celebrity Solstice - home May and went full blown IM - LOVE LOVE LOVE this WOE!

I still have another 55 POF to lose - but last Dec I gave myself the goal of 1 POF per week to get it all off I knew would take time - probably 18-24 months- I have been overweight since age 8 - now almost 66 and proud to say I have already made my goal for this year!

  13. Sounds like everyone is finding out what WOE works best for your own body -

Phew - Finally home from 26 days - pre-cruise in London - S. England - Barcelona and 13 Days TA on Harmony -

Managed to stay low carb - nothing white - no sweets - chose meat - cheeses - eggs - Zero Sprite with Vodka - 1 glass red wine - So proud of me - only gain 5 POF during entire 26 days and know that my feet and ankles are still swollen so much of that will drop as water weight!

  14. I've been doing keto since July 4th. I lost 24 lbs in the first 2 months, and have held steady since then due to too many cheat days/weekends. Now that I've booked a cruise for next August, I'm ready to drop my 2nd 24lbs. It is super hard not to have fruit. But once I get in the groove after a week or so, I don't have the cravings. My biggest tip is to get sodium and potassium tablets and take those when eating keto. It's a diuretic diet and you lose your electrolytes when you're peeing that much which causes headaches and carb cravings and dizziness etc.

I think on my vacations (Disney in January, cruise in August) I will pick the low carb options when available, but I'm going to have dessert or mashed potatoes if I want. From my experience in the past few months, I feel really good on keto. When I cheat, I'm tired, get headaches, am cranky etc. I don't want to feel like that all vacation, so I'm trying to find a balance.

Good luck to you - I really don't have 'cheat' days - unless you want to count going over 10 carbs lol :) I enjoy a LCHF WOE and even for this weekend (2 HUGE birthday parties here at our house for adult kids - I made 4 layer dessert with chocolate - whipping cream - sugar (of course) flour - butter - nuts - didn't even lick my fingers or the knife when cutting it -

I do the Nike bit - "JUST DO IT" and don't 'cheat'!

While cruising - I will ask for cooked veggies on the side of my main meal or only eat the meat - I can always order - shrimp cocktail or scallops done in butter - caesar salad - salmon - chicken or steak - I have no need to change the way I eat - but then again we do cruise quite a bit so this is not a 'splurge' for me!

We leave tomorrow for London 3 days - southern England days - Barcelona 3 days and then TA on Harmony from Barcelona to Ft. Lauderdale 14 days -

The only time I may 'have to cheat' is when our hostess of 5 days serves something I really don't want to eat but IF it is served I must eat it or be a bad guests lol :)

  15. I am also a Diet Doctor (website and FB) fan -

LCHF is my WOE and I have lost 48 POF (pounds of fat) since after Christmas last year

I love this WOE and it is not a diet rather my lifestyle

I also follow Dr. Jason Fung "The Obesity Code" and I do IF (intermittent fasting) my window of fasting is usually 20:4 - which means I fast for 20 hours and only 'feed" (eat) during the 4 hour period - usually 6 pm at night to 3-4 pm the next day -

I also fast at least 1 - 48 hour period per week and occasionally 1 5 day fast per month - I am insulin resistant and this helps to get my insulin down to a manageable level!

I love the fact that everything you need for this WOE is onboard the ships -

eggs - meat- fish - poultry - pork - cheeses - whipping cream - above the ground veggies and lots of salads!

  16. Serenade of the Seas is already showing up in Akreyri and Reykjavik:

    http://www.port.is/index.php?pid=65&w=v - 01st Sep 2018, Akureyri

    http://www.faxafloahafnir.is/cruiseships/index.php?pid=1&w=v - 03rd/04th Sep, Reykjavik

That looks like her regular Transatlantic from Copenhagen to Boston via Iceland.

We really really really want to do the sailing from Copenhagen through Iceland to US - 2018 -

When do you think these schedules will be released by RCI? We like to book the first day to get the best prices and the best cabins?

  17. I booked our Copenhagen TA for 2017, the end of March of 2016, but our Roll Call was first started some 2 weeks earlier, so I would say Mid March.

Thank you so much - I will keep my eyes open - well I do check every other day or so.... we leave for our B3B on Radiance on 22 March - fly to Sydney and will be onboard for 39 days so that will make it nice for OBC while booking onboard!
