  1. I agree that the Wonderland experience can vary from ship to ship. Just walking in to Wonderland aboard Symphony is part of the experience. Aboard Anthem, for instance, not so much. I would recommend Wonderland to anyone at least once, if they’re at all curious. It is, after all, more than just a meal. With the right waitperson, along with the AMAZING Madhatter, it’s dinner AND a show. Enjoy your cruise. Ellen
  2. My best tip? Bring your most comfortable walking shoes!!! Yes, she is huge, but beautiful. I concur with the entertainment comment. I would also urge you to at least take a walk through the Solarium after dark. The “art piece” in the center is quite interesting during daylight hours, stunning after dark. Enjoy your cruise ... and, I’m a little bit jealous 😉 Ellen
  3. While I do agree with the “chopped up” reference and overall, there’s just something about the design that doesn’t do it for me, I really loved many things about Anthem. Specifically, 270 and it’s Cafe 270, the Music Hall as well as the way-above-average entertainment. I 100% agree with the We Will Rock You recommendation, which was amazing. I very much much like Radiance, Voyager and Freedom class ships, but Oasis class still does it for me, really delivering the “WOW!” Ellen
  4. Just did the same cruise, same ship, 9 nights, this past October 2019. We sailed on the 10th, so a bit earlier than what you’re interested in. Unfortunately, our weather was far from the best, lots of gray days, on and off rain, temps pretty cool, but there’s no guarantees. If you’re familiar with Anthem OTS, you probably know that the entertainment is better than most, much like the Oasis class. I did pretty much the same cruise over 10 years ago on the Jewel OTS, but round trip out of Boston. We sailed around the 26th of September, had gorgeous weather, but there was just the hint of the colors changing. Fortunately, I cruise mostly just to enjoy the ship, the entertainment and the food, all while being on the ocean, my most favorite place to be, although cruising in warmer climes does appeal to me, to be able to enjoy the balcony. If if you have any specific questions, ask away! 😊 Ellen
  5. Have you read through your roll call? I’m fairly certain that you’ll be far from the only CC solo cruiser, and that’s just the tip of the iceberg. I’ve only done 2 TransAtlantic cruises so far, but there were plenty of solos on both of them. RCI has a message board on every sailing, usually near Guest Services, or Promenade Cafe on Oasis, but if you can’t find it, Guest Services “should” be able to help you find it. That’s where you should be able to find solo luncheons or get-together posted.
  6. Can't speak to any of the tribute bands aboard, but if Royal Swedes are indeed on board, do not miss them. They're a pop/rock cover band, usually found in the Music Hall and are incredible! Ellen
  7. Hello Kim! So glad you were really able to take that preChristmas cruise, and I’m finally caught up. Kudos to you (and to hubby and Sakari for being so supportive) for actually diving again. The fact that you had even planned on trying it so soon, and fairly early into your recovery, is surely testament to you being no sissy!!! 👏👏. I would have thought you might never be able to put on a fin on that foot again, but there you were in video, not just wearing both, but actually using that fin! SIMPLY AMAZING! Thanks, once again, for documenting your wonderful travels with all of us. If I can’t be out there myself having a wonderful time on any ocean, I can at least smile, and sometimes laugh, along with you and your family. Ellen
  8. Being a mostly Royal Caribbean cruiser, their free lobster dinners are only offered on the last formal [now called Dress Your Best] night, although lobster is offered in the main dining rooms every night for an uncharge. These lobster dinners are only offered on sailings of 5 nights or more and I don't believe there are any "lobster nights" on European and Mediterranean sailings, but are definitely included on their Transatlantics to/from European ports.
  9. Ahh, you are correct Biker19. To access, yes. I was thinking about when initially installing it, but forgot that the OP had already done that. Thanks! Ellen
  10. You probably have figured it out by now, but the username/password to use is the same one that is used to install or purchase any other app for the iPhone. Enjoy your cruise! Ellen
  11. Might I suggest that you make sure that the blow dryer, which can be found in one of the vanity/desk drawers, is in working order as soon as you get to your stateroom. I once found out, the hard way, that mine did not. Called my stateroom attendant ASAP and he did bring a working one in about 15-20 minutes, as I sat there in my bathrobe w/wet hair 😳.
  12. Thank you for the great trip report, TopDogSparky08! It’s too bad that you were unable to see We Will Rock You during your sailing, as it’s an AWESOME show! I enjoyed Spectra’s Cabaret while on board in October, but We Will Rock You just totally hit it out of the park for me and a few of my traveling companions. Hope you have a wonderful time aboard Oasis OTS. She’s an awesome ship (bring your most comfortable broken-in walking shoes 😉). Ellen
  13. As usual, twangster, another wonderful trip report and photos 😊. It will most likely never happen, but a canal transit cruise was always toward the top of my bucket list. Thanks so much for taking us there! Fascinating Ellen
  14. Thank you, Kay, for posting such a wonderful review. Enjoyed reading it and your pictures were great, too! I, my DS, S-I-L and a couple of friends were on the 10-10-19 sailing, exact same itinerary. Our sailing was also also riddled with less than ideal weather, but that’s just the name of the game while traveling. Fortunately when on a cruise, there’s usually something fun going on at all times onboard, with plenty of fellow cruisers that I have always found to be mostly friendly people, a huge plus. Before sailaway from Port Liberty, the Captain (who was AWESOME the entire cruise!) announced that we wouldn’t be sailing out into open waters until early the next morning, as there was a huge storm that had worked its way north out of the Caribbean and the seas were simply too wild, but at 9pm we sailed slowly up and down the Hudson River, to view NYC all lit up at night, plus a closer-up view of Ellis Island and the Statue of Liberty than any of us had seen before. Wonderful! While I do disagree w/a couple of your “need improvement” ideas (believe me, Sorrentos pizza has come a LONG WAY lately), there are many many more that I totally agree with, particularly the Cruise Compass. PLEASE, Royal, PLEASE bring back the old Compass. Whatever happened to the old back page, where you could tear it off, fold it in half and take it with you for being able to quickly check EVERYTHING going on all over the ship, all based upon the time. Now everything is categorized which forces you to look in at least several places to make a decision as to do something next, or nothing at all. I’m so sorry that you missed We Will Rock You, which IMHO, was one of the best licensed shows I’ve ever seen, on or off a cruise ship! The cast was amazing, extremely talented and although the show was a full 2 hours long, I never even started to get “antsy”, hoping that it would be over soon, which often happens with me, even during really wonderful shows. All in all, our sailing was quite enjoyable. So glad you enjoyed yours. Just one tip, if I may. If you’ve never sailed on an Oasis class ship, I would definitely give it a try. They are amazing vessels, where the ship IS the destination, also with wonderful entertainment. Ellen
  15. ... just catching up after being home for going on two weeks and finally got around to reading your good news. I must say you’ve MADE MY DAY Kim! 😊😊 Keep up the great work and please keep us all up to speed. Ellen
