1. Well there are a few people in this thread that have shown they are willing to pay any fee RCL asks for and are just thankful Royal allows them on the ship. Enough people with that mentality and management just made a great discussion.

I liked JR with the cover charge format, but not idea why you'd eat there al-a-cart with crappy service when you can go to the dog house and get the same thing for free.

I personally think Quantum is setup to make everything an add on, and they are going to slowly add them little by little. I know a lot of people on here think it is the new wave, and this is what the young cruiser wants. But the young people I know (myself included) the all-inclusive aspect is one of the biggest selling points. I doubt there are many 27 year-old new parents at Chief's Table or in GSes.

This whole for fee eating thing is a very slippery slope. I really wish people would just stop paying extra for ANY food on a cruise ship and put a stop to it before they ARE charging for everything. It seems food quality in included food venues is already suffering. As stated above, the all inclusive aspect of cruising is one of the best selling points. The more people go along with this, the worse it will get. If the food quaility of included restaurants goes down any more, or they start charging for room service, we WILL be finished with Royal Caribbean.

2. Thanks to everyone for all the info. Hey Wang, your pictures are great! :) I'm curious as to what you did with your valuables while there? It will just be my husband and I and I know we'll want to do some snorkeling together. Also, how long do you have to wait for the jitney back? Do they run on a schedule? Just looked at our itinerary again and it looks like our port time is 7-3. Could have sworn when we booked it was 7-2 so, yay! I'm thinking if we head back to catch the jitney about 1:00 we'll be Ok, don't want to cut it too close, especially after just reading that thread about the guy missing his ship in Nassau !

3. I was there in February and no construction. Wyndam is right next door. Beautiful! It's where I head every time on the jitney!😃

Thanks for replying but I have to ask, if you haven't been since February, how do you know there is no construction going on NOW?

4. Just came across this thread while looking for something to do in Nassau. We also will only be docked 7-2. Had decided to go ahead and do this, then saw some reviews on Trip Advisor saying they are doing construction on the property. Cruisepup, did you notice construction going on? We'll only have a few hours and don't want to find ourselves in a construction zone!

5. We love room service for breakfast, and use it as our wake up call. Sometimes it's just coffee, pastries and fruit, other times a meal. We take dollar bills for tipping and always tip at least $3. Nothing like having that first coffee of the day on the balcony. No, we don't want to pay any extra for it! :p
6. I love to read any reviews when I'm planning a cruise, and after I've booked a cruise. I like reading the good and the bad. My husband and I always have a saying when we hear anything good or bad. "We'll be the judge of that." ha You could read 10 different reviews from 10 people all on the same sailing, and all could be totally different. We were just on a cruise last week, and we didn't care at all for one of the shows, but the next day heard a lady say that it was one of the best she'd ever seen. I read the good and the bad and take it all with a grain of salt. If I read several people talking about the same good or bad on a ship... I put a little more weight into it. If there's something potentially bad about a ship, I want to know about it, so that I can make at least somewhat informed decisions. Same with the good! In 21 cruises, we've only ever had what we'd call 2 "bad" cruises. Those were due to health issues. Even those were salvaged at least in part, and still had some good to them. (Including good stories for later!) Every cruise line, every cruise ship, and every cruise experience always have positives and negatives. I like to hear it all. :-)

Exactly. Could not have said it better myself!:D

7. Anyone stay here recently? If so, I'd love to hear your thoughts on this hotel. We're looking for something nice on the beach for a couple of pre-cruise nights celebrating our anniversary. Latest reviews on trip advisor aren't that good, but there's not a lot to choose from and we definitely want to be on the beach this trip.

8. Has anybody done this excursion lately? Typically we wouldn't book thru the ship, but our port time is short and it would just be easier than trying to do a bunch of research and worry about getting back in time! Sunny AZ girl, can you elaborate on why you were disappointed?

9. Was on the 9/14 sailing on Freedom and husband and I ate at Chops with a TA voucher. The food was very good, but the service was TERRIBLE. Very condescending waiter. We had planned to tip extra, but did not. Also, I noticed something that I found very aggravating. In the compass, where they are pushing the specialty restaurants, it states gratuity included in the fee. But after you eat, they present you with a slip to sign which states that a small portion of the fee goes to gratuity and you're basically encouraged to leave an additional tip. I think this is very misleading. Does anyone know just how much of the fee goes to gratuity? Anyway, looking back, I wish we had got up and left and told them we would prefer to eat at Portofino's instead. By the way, we had excellent service in the MDR this cruise, probably the best ever. :D Great steward also.

10. the only thing I'd like to chime in about is that on the Freedom class ships there is a curtain that you can draw at least 1/2 way across the wall that divides the bed from the pullout couch. that will offer a little privacy.

Actually, that room does not have a pullout couch. It has a pullman in the ceiling. Also, the little curtain can't be "drawn". You have to unhook it from the tieback and it really doesn't come out far at all. My husband and I commented how we would never be comfortable with three people in that room. Just my opinion. :)

11. OP, we just did this last week. I bought a roll of quarters and my husband was like "why did you get this roll of quarters". Clearly I do all the planning. Ha.:) Well, with the turnpike toll, which we paid in dollar bills, and the other toll roads, I think we wound up paying about 7 or 8 dollars each way and it was a pain. We sail out of PC again in November and we will be taking the I95 route. We live south of Atlanta near the Atlanta motor Speedway.

12. I was on the 9/14 sailing as well. Yes, we definitely noticed a lot of vibration in different areas of the ship. Went up to Olive or Twist one night and left after about ten minutes it was so bad. Our dining room table on deck 3 was also pretty bad. It was our son-in-laws first cruise and he didn't even like eating there because of it. We had 7408 aft and it wasn't too bad there though.

13. We were on the 9/14 sailing also. We also noticed some rude behavior by other passengers. It seems no one in the Windjammer ever heard of a line. People all over the place. Twice I had just picked up a plate and was about to start down a line when people just walked up in front of me, grabbed a plate and started putting stuff on it.

We also dined at Chops on Tuesday. This is not something we would normally even do but our travel agent gave us a voucher for a specialty restaurant. The service was TERRIBLE. We thought maybe because of the voucher, but now I'm thinking not, and we're not that hard to please. Our waiter appeared to only have one other table of seven. It was just my husband and I. He came over after we had been there a few minutes to let us know it was going to be a little while before he could get our order. But he didn't even bring water or anything. So we waited about ten minutes and the first thing he did was try to sell us two bottles of wine. We politely declined, told him my husband doesn't drink. Without doing a full review here, I'll just say it went downhill from there. We felt like we had to beg for everything. We didn't tip extra, which we normally would have. Our service in the main dining room was excellent. Best we've ever had. I don't think we had to ask for a single thing. We even filled out the survey just so we could give them (and our steward, who also did an excellent job) the coveted score of 10. :D Ha

14. I think it is a big deal to have my vacation time interupted to go stand in a line for something that ends up being nothing. The least they could do is apologize for the inconvenience and interuption for nothing.

I totally agree with this and I will be one pi$$ed off lady if I get my vacation time interrupted and have to go stand in line and schlep my large bag to my stateroom. I bring regular size bottles of contact solution, mouthwash, shampoo and sunscreen. These just aren't going to fit in our carryon with all the other stuff we're bringing.

15.
Ok, Peachy, I went to the spa after the show tonight.

They already have things set up for next week's western itinerary, so the schedule is for that. I will scan and post the whole thing when I get home.

But here are some prices:

Pathway to yoga - $12
Group boxing - $15
Indoor cycling - $12
Body Sculpt Boot Camp - $35
Pathway to Pilates - $12
Beach Boot Camp (on Labadee; don't know if they do the same thing on CocoCay, but I would bet that they do) - $30
Yoga on the Beach - $12

They add EIGHTEEN PER CENT GRATUITY to each one.

Most of these are offered more than once during the week. There are also "free" sessions of stuff like stretching, fab abs, circuit training, total body conditioning.
Thanks so much! We are doing the Western so that is perfect! Eighteen % gratuity
