  1. So sorry you're going through this and I hope you get it resolved soon. As frustrating and time consuming as it is, I would continue to pursue it. I have had issues with Dr's offices and health insurance that were MUCH less money that I stayed after until resolution because at some point it becomes a "principle of the matter" situation. Although in this case it's definitely a lot of money!

  2. In the Diamond Lounge the cocktail hour is for those 18 and over. Its been that way for quite a while. Children are welcome at other times when accompanied by a parent. I experienced this in March when traveling with my grandchildren who are Diamond on their own. It's a cocktail hour for adults. Enjoy a cocktail after they go to Adventure Ocean.

I hope it stays this way. I don't think kids should be allowed during cocktail hour.

  3. Unfortunately DH cannot join me on the cruise due to work so my agent called to cancel him off.

I thought I would get his taxes back......but they said no

So it is 100% cancellation penalty for him...... And they want to charge me another $400 as being a solo traveller??!!??!?

Is this right that they can get 100% full fare for him and want to charge me more?

If I leave him as a no show I think I'll get the taxes back?

    That is absolutely ridiculous!

  4. I would continue to take it to a higher level. While it may be within the rules it does not mean it is a good rule.

Write a letter (email) to the top brass at Royal explaining your issue. The key point is if your description stated a 165 sq ft room - that is what you should get. If their website or other material have not been updated to meet the layout of the ship you as the customer should not be penalized. You booked an inside stateroom and not a studio in good faith and that is what you should get.

Just keep going up the chain until you get someone with the authority to actually fix this.

You can also request that if they get a no show or cancel you be moved to that room.

    Good luck OP

    Yes, totally agree with this!

  5. I was just telling my husband yesterday, on the way home from a cruise, they should set up some kind of a hand washing station outside of the buffet! Had no idea they are doing this on Anthem. I believe a lot of people use the hand sanitizer instead of washing, and it does not kill Norovirus. I always stop in the ladies room to wash my hands before eating and hate the way they push the sanitizer on everyone. False sense of security, although I guess it's better than nothing.

    Thanks for posting!

  6. We were just at Blue Kay last Wednesday. Just wanted to say, please make sure you know what the cost is before ordering. They really tried to rip us off. We paid $5 each for a chair and drink and then had lunch there. They charged my husband $31 US for his lunch and an order of guacamole. When we questioned the bill, they adjusted it, but it really left a bad taste! Also, those wooden chairs are not too comfortable. Just make sure you know the cost of things before you order. Also, I had emailed prior and asked if they take credit cards. They emailed back and said yes, they do. But the day we were there, they couldn't process a CC payment. I think they were trying to do it with a phone. We did bring cash, but prefer to use a CC in Mexico and have it charged in pesos as we usually get a better exchange rate that way.

  7. I go through insuremytrip.com to compare coverage and purchase.

I use this site as well.

Go to one of the online sites and compare policies. It takes some time, but it's the only way to know what you are being covered for.

Most of the complaints I see against travel insurers are because people didn't read their policies. They are all different and what is good for one person may not be good for someone else.

Yes! I always read through and make sure what I'm looking to have covered is included.

  8. When our daughter was small we went on many vacations that involved hotel pools, condo pools, cruise ship pools and beaches. There were never lifeguards. Even if there had been, we would never let her out of our sight ,even though she was an excellent swimmer by the age of six. She was actually snorkeling at that age. She even became a lifeguard at our county rec center at age 16. There is just no excuse for not watching your kids. Of course we didn't let her do a lot of things I see parents letting their kids get away with now! I do think they should have a limit on the amount of people in the pools, though.

  9. I did not see the threads on this, so this past Friday evening I went to put a hold on a cabin until I checked with DH, and I could not find the button. When I called the Customer service rep told me no more curtesy holds on carribean sailings and did not offer to do it for me.

They told me the same thing and I even asked if they could do it for me. The answer was no they won't do it on Caribbean sailings anymore. YMMV

  10. Wow, you really think outside of the box! Nice!

Well, none of us thought of it, either. :)

Maybe now the employees involved in this case will start doing that in the future.

(since I've so far had 1700 and 1864 on Freedom, a chosen panoramic OV room on Vision, and we'll be in 7688 on Adventure...*very specific* staterooms are important to me! so I was having a small panic attack for the OP!)

And I was having a large panic attack!

We were on Adventure last December in 7388. Great cruise! You are gonna love it. Enjoy!

  11. Sweet. Very good idea on your part. I am surprised they would ask them but glad its resolved to your satifaction.

My curiousity would get the best of me and I'd be over where the other cabin is just to see if it was occupied.

    Bill

I'm a problem solver! My curiosity will get the best of me as well. I'm 99% sure someone will be in that cabin. I do like to meet new people on a cruise. ;)

  12. Exactly. We have been wanting an aft cabin for a while, but we usually don't book far enough in advance. We have a b2b next April and booked jr suites since the aft cabins were sold out. An aft balcony cabin became available so we jumped at the chance to have the aft and gave up the jr suite. I would much rather have the aft balcony than more room. Now if we could just get an aft cabin on the 18 day part of the b2b.

I am very happy that she persisted and got the afternoon cabin. I personally don't think RC helped her very much. After finding out that she was more interested in the aft cabin than the "upgrade" they should have tried themselves to see if the other aft people would be interested in the upgrade. They should have done that instead of her having to waste her time. RC recieves a BIG FAIL in my opinion.

I have to admit, it has left a bit of a bad taste. I know some people don't care that much about what cabin they get, but to some it is very important, which is why we book so far out. If it really is a maintenance issue, I don't guess there is too much they could do. I do think they should have at least called instead of sending an email. I think I will be stressing about this for future cruises now! Kinda defeats the purpose of a cruise!

  13. Well, then, it is apparent I did miss something. I have never paid much attention to that stuff. On that note... my apologies :o

It's pretty impressive that RCI went as far as that and got you the cabin you prefer. Many times the right thing to do doesn't happen.

Normally I wouldn't respond to anyone that way, and never have on CC, but I'm sick of seeing their fly by posts that sometimes give really bad advice.

I'm very grateful to RCI and especially to the couple who agreed to take the upgrade. According to Resolutions, they were happy to get the Jr Suite. So, it looks like everybody's happy. Yay! :D

  14. Great news! I had asked RCI if they would contact the people in the other corner aft and ask if they would like the upgrade to Jr Suite and let us have their cabin and they agreed! So we still have a corner aft, just on the other side! :D

Thanks to all of you who gave positive and helpful responses!:)

  15. Did I miss something? Why the overly dramatic response to a very simple post? You come here to post your displeasure and in most cases have received support. After seeing that response your cause has become irrelevant and you deserve support no longer. Go b**ch and moan somewhere else.

Yes, you did miss something because this particular person is constantly giving bad and irrelevant advice and then they never come back. I'm not interested in their opinion of what THEY think is a better space.

  16. If they keep saying it's a maintenance issue, maybe you can negotiate a GS or OS to help get over your disappointment. I think I'd try. We love aft balconies, and we've never had to change when we've booked one, but I think I might be able to give one up for a full suite.:p

    Judy

I will be trying that, but they are saying the only thing left is a JR Suite. I just can't imagine what the problem is that can't be fixed by the 9th! The website shows the cruise as sold out.

  17. Somebody probably wanted your cabin, so they gave you an "upgrade", which you didn't want. Is your cabin still available? If it is, shouldn't be a problem getting it back. If it isn't, tell them to give whoever has it, your upgrade.

I already told them to move whoever is in that cabin to the Jr Suite. But they're claiming it's a maintenance issue.
