  1. Congrats on your upcoming wedding and honeymoon. The superior rooms are nice and I am sure that you will really enjoy your cruise. Forget about the wrong pictures you saw of the room, it will only make you upset. Continue reading CC and you will learn a lot for your next cruise after this one. You will like it so much you will get hooked like the rest of us.

I have learned a lot of things from reading CC.

    1. Try to book your next cruise while on the ship. You usually get the best deal and on board credit.

    2. You can transfer your cruise to a TA after you have booked it with Royal Caribbean up to 60 days. The TA will also give you perks, just make sure that your booking will transfer over exactly as it is with no loss of perks that you received from initially booking.

    3. Look for a good TA. One that does not have a booking fee, lets you cancel the cruise for any reason with a full refund as long as it is before the 90 day cut off which the cruise line requires. After that you will start losing your deposit.

It is also a good idea to buy cruise travel insurance. Usually cheaper getting it else where than the cruise company. Read CC for lots of info regarding the ins and outs of the insurance. They are not all the same and there are many good reasons to buy it but others will disagree. Read, read, read like you have been doing.

Please keep in mind, if you book on board they will automatically transfer the booking to the TA you used to book the current sailing! You must let them know if you don't want to use that TA again! I would never use a TA who charges ANY cancellation fees.

  2. My experience has been the coffee is for a 4-cup maker instead of the 1-cup maker in the Jr. Suites. Other than that they are great!

Can someone please explain this to me? I don't understand why they put a coffee maker in the suites but give you the wrong coffee for it? If this is the case, can we bring the pods for the 1 cup makers? We are looking forward to having a coffee maker, but it seems like it's useless?

  3. And remember, this is *in addition to* the money you've already paid in your cruise fare for meals in free venues, a meal that is presumably going uneaten.

Exactly. We've paid to eat at Chops once, decided it wasn't worth it, and now only eat at one of the specialty restaurants when our TA gives us a free voucher, so it only costs us an extra tip.

  4. Granted it is a family friendly line. We all know that. But it is delusional to ignore the big share of adults traveling without children, who don't hate kids, but do appreciate some time away from them on occasion. It is not at all unreasonable for adults to want a child free venue on board. Other lines, including Disney have them. Even parents who bring their kids along often want time away from kids, or there would be no kids clubs and sitting services. Children could just hang out with Mom&Dad 24/7. Many leave their kids home with the grandparents or travel with the grandparents because they NEED some adult time to stay sane. All these people should not sail RCI??? RCI does not also want their business? You know they do.

What is unreasonable is to expect virtually every venue to cater to what you personally want in a cruise line. Why is it unreasonable to expect venues that cater to both audiences? Some places can allow kids only, some allow adults only , and some allow a mix. That would still be a 'family friendly environment'. Family friendly does not have to mean kids can go anywhere. If a lounge was designated adult only, would RCI suddenly not be considered family friendly?

Am I the only one who is tired of the often repeated knee jerk reaction, basically telling people they should be cruising elsewhere if they don't like one particular rule. That is not real world and I get tired of that response to virtually every post wanting to change something. This forum is here specifically to have a place to discuss, not dismiss things like this. If the policy were changed back and you posted that you preferred it when kids were allowed in the DL, that would be your right. I may not agree with you, but I would respect your opinion and would not tell you to just get off my boat.

There are thousands of people on board, so it is reasonable to expect RCI to at least try to cater to the wide variety of interests and likes, and not just have one demographic dictate every decision at the expense of a significant number of others.

    Yes! Very well said.

  5. I've been reading some amazingly detailed trip reviews from recent experiences, and looking at your Compasses. I"m excited for my trip in mid-2017, but I'm puzzled, and disappointed. It looks like ALL my son will be able to do then is walk around the hallways, and pay for him to attend kids club. There are almost no kid activities during the daytime hours, family activities seem limited to teenagers when they do exist, he won't be allowed into the pools unless we can magically potty train a 2 yr old... Even the (current) movie offerings are adult movies.

What is he, and by extension, we, supposed to do during the cruise?

Please tell me I am missing something :(

Sorry. This is why I would never cruise with a child under the age of three and potty trained. Just my opinion!

  6. Is it rude to not want to have to play frogger with scooters? Disney was overrun with them last Christmas.

I didn't say anything was rude so I don't know why you quoted me. I was responding to someone who said it was rude to want to go on an adult only cruise. I don't think it's rude to try and avoid any situation that annoys you.:D

  7. What is the big deal? If children have Diamond status or above then they should be allowed in the Diamond Lounge.

I think the big deal is adults would like to be able to enjoy the cocktail hours without having to censor everything they say because children are there.

I think the big deal is some parents let their kids do whatever they want without correcting their behavior, and staff usually won't say anything for fear of angering those parents.

I think the big deal is having kids there changes the whole dynamic.

  8. Go to the guest service desk and ask, they can look it up and fell you what type you have

We had a situation recently where we had some OBC from a TA which I knew was refundable. When we went to guest services to ask for it to be refunded, the rep stated it was not refundable. After pressing the issue, she asked someone else and they looked at our account and said yes, it is refundable. The first rep was very adamant, too. I guess she was new. So you need to know if it's from a TA or from Royal, because if Royal gave it to you, it isn't refundable. Having said all of that, I know there are ways to get that OBC from Royal as cash, but I've never done that so maybe someone else can chime in on that.

  9. To me it is about as appropriate having kids in a cocktail hour setting as it would be having me hang out in the kids club and chat it up with the teenagers. Why is it so hard to understand that some venues are not kid friendly, and during the evening cocktail hour this is one of them.

My kids did not want to hang out with a bunch of adults drinking booze anyway, not that we ever let them. If your need to get into the lounge and get your swerve on means bringing your kids so they can hang out there while you drink, it seems a bit selfish to me. My kids would have been bored to tears and had about 100 other places that were kid appropriate that they would rather be.

"I want to hang out in the Diamond Lounge and watch a bunch of old people drink" SAID NO KID EVER.

    Yes! I totally agree.

  10. Not at all. I was just giving a fairly good answer as I doubt that under 18 yo would be allowed on those cruises

It pretty much guarantees a child free cruise

Btw I think it's rude to expect to find a child free cruise in the first place and the way to guarantee it is to book an adults only charter

You think it's rude to expect to find a child free cruise? There are plenty of adult only AI's. Is it rude to want to go to one of those? I wonder why there are so many of them?
