  1. So I booked this cruise 18 months ago specifically to get a corner aft on Vision leaving April 9th. I just opened an email and they have moved us to a Jr Suite, not an aft. Now I know some might be happy with an upgrade, but we are not! I have my preferences set to no upgrade. Called C&A and they said it was a maintenance issue? They can't fix that in a week? I'm not buying it! Resolutions is working on it and they are supposed to call me back. We were really looking forward to that corner aft balcony!

  2. If anyone is considering a dolphin encounter, you might first do a little research and see if you really want to support that type of activity. Just google "dolphin encounter cruelty".

It it current news that Sea World finally has a plan to end their Killer Whale shows and breeding program. But some of the captive dolphins have it far worse than Shamu. Just because the dolphins look cute, and it "appears" that they are smiling at you, it doesn't mean that they're happy.

Yes, yes, yes! Thank you for posting this.

  3. This whole thing is confusing to me, but what I know is this; We took our dauhter on 4 cruises before she turned 18. She was signed up with her own C&A number. This was between 2002-2005. When they changed the system over she got one point per night plus one extra point, just like us.

A different issue we had though, they had lost one of our cruises. They wanted me to prove somehow (a seapass, a photo) that we had actually taken the cruise. I was able to do that and got credit, but I couldn't remember the exact dates. Later on when I was speaking to a different C&A rep about something else, I mentioned this to her. She quickly looked up our history and found the old cruise, correct dates and all. So the moral of this story, you might need to talk to a few different reps to get all of your points. But as long as you had your own C&A number, you should get points for every cruise whether you were 18 or not.

  4. The bar staff is in charge of the mini-fridge contents now so the steward cannot empty it for you. Just empty yourself and leave a note where the contents are so you don't get charged.

On Adventure last December, we asked our Steward and he told us HE had to remove the items. Later, when we were putting our suitcases under the bed we saw a garbage bag with the items in there.

  5. IMHO she is one of the worst CD's we have ever experienced so, for that reason i do hope she isn't on your cruise in April ...and no, she won't attend the M & M (or at least she hasn't on the couple of cruises we have been on that she was CD) :)

I totally agree with this. I usually don't pay much attention to the CD, and would never book a cruise based on that, but when we were on Adventure last December, she stood out to us in a very bad way. We thought she was terribly annoying! We loved that cruise and would like to go an Adventure again but certainly hope for a different CD!

  6. Thank you for sharing this. I totally understand the appeal of swimming with these amazing animals, but I think people do need to well-informed about all aspects of any excursion they want to participate in.

You're welcome. Sad to say I did it myself, years ago, before I knew better. I no longer participate in any activity that exploits animals.

  7. Ahh, my biggest pet peeve at any restaurant! I will sometimes ask the server to bring me an extra glass of whatever ( tea, water, etc ) and let them know I drink a lot! I have been known to get up and go find them and ask for a refill if my drink gets empty. You shouldn't have to tip extra to keep your drink filled, although we usually will tip extra for great service, at the end of the cruise.

  8. Unfortunately, as long as people pay those prices, nothing will change. They introduced the packages and then went up on individual drink prices to convince people it is worth it to buy them. Looks like it's working out pretty well for them. We don't drink nearly enough to justify it so just bring the 2 bottles of wine, buy a drink here and there, and drink more in port. To me it's not about affordability, but value for my dollar. We have a few cruises on the books through next year, but with all of the cut backs and price increases we will be looking at other vacation options in the future.

  9. Had the same situation a few years ago. I won't go into the details, but my suggestion is to call several times until you get a C&A rep who can find the missing info for you. I was actually calling about something else one day, mentioned the situation and magically this rep found the missing cruise and applied the points. Good luck!:)

  10. On our most recent two RCI cruises the sanitizers were everywhere. They even had a crew member (most people I heard mentioned her approach was a tad gruff...but that is a different story) stationed at the entrance to each dining venue.

While on a cruise I wash my hands (the old-fashion way) a lot. I have to take a medication every day that dries my skin a great deal. If I use that stuff they almost get to the point of cracking. So I just ignore the watchdogs and rely on my hand washing...which happened about 10 seconds before I walked by them...to suffice.

Me too! It gets really aggravating when they are trying to force it on you. I wash my hands a LOT and always just before eating. I don't want or need to follow that up with hand sanitizer that dries out my skin.

  11. Those of you that booked through shoreexcursioneer could you please let me know how your excursion went? We are thinking of booking with them in April and I'm a little wary of booking with them but really want to do the excursion by air!:D

  12. Thanks for the quick replies! While the double points was not the primary reason for the JR Suite, it is a nice bonus and did help to sway us as we're not Diamond yet and this will help get us there faster. I just read a comment on a travel blog that TA rates are excluded from the double points.

  13. Just off Adventure on Saturday. No tickets or muster station assignments, but, we decided to go about 5 minutes before the doors were opened at 8:30 for the 9:00 show and there was a HUGE line. We were in the back of that line and barely got a seat, and not a great one. Just two of us. So if you want a good seat, better get there a while before the doors open!

  14. Has anyone done RCCL's whale watching tour and do you know what company they use? Seems pretty expensive for a 3 hour tour. Also wondering about the 4 hour snorkeling tour. Can't remember the name of this one and can't access their site right now. :( We don't normally book with the cruise line but at this point I can't find anything we would like to do. Not interested in a land tour.

I tried booking with Mystic man but they haven't met their minimum and also tried booking an excursion with Herod who also hasn't met his minimum. Also, we considered Spencer's Jalouise beach break but really don't like that you're there for so long and might not even get a chair. I know they say they try to get there first, but there is no guarantee they will. These joints can't handle laying in the sand all day anymore!

We'll be there on Dec 2nd, so time is running out!

    Any feedback or suggestions appreciated.
