  1. You should not be able to save lounge chairs while you go to the buffet. That's a different activity. You should only be able to keep your lounge chair when you are using the lounge chair for activities connected with the lounge chair (e.g. in the pool or getting a drink at the nearby bar).
  2. Oceansaway I have your back. Having a big CHECK IN tab both on the website and app makes it seem like you have to, you know, CHECK IN before the day of the ship. You don't. I didn't figure that out until I slugged through the process. It does want you to input certain information and choose your medallion, etc., but you don't actually ever click something that is a CHECK IN like on an airplane where you then get a boarding pass and you're done. It's a completely different process and should be labeled differently. Something like PERSONAL INFORMATION instead of CHECK IN.
  3. Thank you. First time on a Princess ship in September so the opposite of an insider.
  4. What does IC stand for. It's going to be interesting the number of people who have booked but don't keep up with cruise critic or other updates and will get on board in the next few months, only to not get what they thought they bought.
  5. Thanks to you and my Steelers buddy. Doesn't sound like a big deal then. Even room service sounds like we can still get at breakfast. I probably wouldn't use it any other time. Onward!
  6. I went through the first few pages and the last few. Maybe it's somewhere else in the dozens of pages but can someone bottom line it for me: What remains available for free on a basic package? - MDR - Buffet Anything else?
  7. Right. That's the way it's supposed to be done. Royal Caribbean IS the cruise line. "Harmony of the Seas" is the name of the ship. Royal Caribbean's Harmony of the Seas is the whole thing put together. Harmony of the Seas Royal Caribbean just sounds....stupid.
  8. Huh? All ships are always named (cruise line) (name of ship). That I have ever seen. Except for Princess.
  9. It's simply NOT easier for the consumer to do everything on the phone, or web, or app. It's not. Give me my paper docs and let me on board. Same thing goes for airlines. It's easier for the PROVIDER, but not for the user. Shows company priorities.
  10. Why would you need to bring your own water? Are you saying water isn't available unless you buy a drink package? I was assured (elsewhere) that water, iced tea, basic coffee (not specialties) and "sometimes" juice or lemonade is available without a drink package.
  11. Related, is there any upside/downside to doing Check In in advance, as opposed to just going to the cruise terminal on sail day? Do we get to skip a line or something? Or, is it required to be done in advance? If you go through the same process on sail day either way, then what is Check In for?
  12. The idiot part was calling your post misinformation which I should not have done...not my navigation of the website. Both stem from newbie-ness.
  13. Yeah I found that. After being an idiot. I apologize.
  14. How is seat saving viewed in the theater/s - entertainment venues? I would only need to save 1, not a whole row.
  15. Perhaps it is telling me there is more info I need to complete on OceanReady and it directs me to the app to do that. I am clunking my way around the website and maybe I can indeed do it here after all is completed.
  16. App says these are the rates for 1 week on the Discovery Princess: 280/week for up to 4 devices 105/week for 1 device (so this would be 210/week for 2 devices, cheaper than the 280) We have shipboard credit -- is the 105/week the same once we board so we can apply that? Also, is there a daily rate, for when we change our minds about connecting? If so what is it, on ship? Thanks.
  17. This is itself misinformation -- when I click Check In from a regular computer on my account/Princess website, it says go check in on the app.
  18. First time Princess cruiser and mannnnnnn the app is difficult to use. I cannot get through everything to check in. So many questions. 1) Is it REQUIRED? I assume so because I went online to check in and it tells me to go to the app. So many things are required to be input on the phone. Why can these things not be input on the website, if I am logged in? I hate working on a phone. 2) I took my profile picture in up-and-down format and it came out sideways. I tried to retake it side-to-side and every single time I try to upload the replacement picture, the app crashes (simply exits) or I get an error message that the app is not responding and it needs to close. Pixel phone, google world. 3) When I go back to my profile it routes me to choose my medallion every time. Well I did all that and at the end it requests address information all over again (why? I already input this in my profile) and payment method all over again (why? I already put 2 in my profile). I try to put one in and it says ERROR. It's the same one I already have in profile. I try to put another in and it says ERROR. It's the other one I already have in my profile. So now this section of the app is stuck at ordering medallions and I am in a loop I cannot exit. 4) Medallion portion says it can be ordered "up to 12 days before sailing." Well that's terrible English. Does that mean 12 days or closer, or 12 days or farther away? Man what a terrible app. Is there any way to ditch it or avoid it? Right now I am not checked in and I don't see how to check in with all these roadblocks.
  19. It was in one of the CruiseCritic reviews of a 2022 sailing on the Discovery. Maybe one of the initial sailings.
  20. Thank you mtnesterz. I should have mentioned, Discovery Princess, sailing from Seattle.
  21. I have read many reviews at this point so I don't remember the specific location. No one ever mentions what is available but I gleaned that alcohol (of course) and soda (ok) and juice (most of the time) are only available on paid packages. Someone had a long complaint about getting "specialty" coffees and how difficult that was at the buffet and how long that took. They were on a ++ package. No one in any review I read simply said "here's what you get if you buy no packages." Thanks, your post was comprehensive.
  22. First time Princess so forgive the ignorance level. Previous cruises on RCL and Carnival always provided water, tea, juice, and coffee with basic fare, and sometimes soda, or not. Appears not to be the case on Princess. I am not an alcohol drinker except for occasional wine so don't care about a drink package. I have some idea of some of the following but would like the bare cold facts from those experienced. With no package, is anything available in MDR except water? Iced tea would be the main choice for me. What about elsewhere on the ship? Are we water-only for the week? If so, all bars simply give you water I assume? I read somewhere there is self-serve juice for everyone but not sure where. I read the rules as we can board with one 12-pack each of soda or similar per person, plus one bottle of wine per person. Correct? Other than from our own cans, and with no drink package, where can wife get her morning caffeine fix? Is there a basic coffeepot sitting at the buffet? I don't need caffeine. Is there any self-serve drink at the buffet, or is it always ask a server? Can we bring on additional drinks (just a six-pack type of thing) bought at the port stops? Thanks for any assistance.
  23. Complete Princess newbie, Alaska cruise newbie, and I have 2 questions for the Discovery sailing from Seattle Sep 24 - Arrival says Vancouver 4a October 1. How long can we actually stay on the ship? Surely we don't have to go out into the streets of Vancouver at 4 in the morning. For this itinerary, does the Sea Day on 9/29 sail through Glacier Bay? Surely it does, on a map Glacier Bay is just north/west of the Skagway and Juneau stops. Wed, Sep 27 Juneau, AK 2:00pm 9:00pm Thu, Sep 28 Skagway, AK 7:00am 5:00pm Fri, Sep 29 At Sea Sat, Sep 30 At Sea
