  1. I just checked the FCD's we purchased last week on Rotterdam and it shows different amounts for different categories of stateroom. I was surprised! Note however that it is a Euro currency FCD, so that could make the difference.
  2. Thankyou for the bread pudding. I am having withdrawal symptoms. Do you think that chewing regular bread and snorting custard powder is a viable substitute? 😃
  3. It is showing on the website still, for me! Did you have any filters that may have hidden it?
  4. $25 for the session. DW did one on Nieuw Statendam. She said it filled the gap between a late breakfast and an early lunch but didn't learn much. The canvas was kept in the studio until dry and then delivered to the room. We brought it home. It is a different kind of souvenir.
  5. I received the same letter for our European cruise and I am a European! I did panic for a millisecond, but then realised it was HAL's way of 'nudging' cruisers to check their personal situation and if visas are required for the passports which they hold.
  6. Welcome to Europe! If you insist on private transfers then you will pay a lot. Public transport is both effecient and inexpensive, however if you have a lot of baggage you will have problems. The train to Rotterdam leaves from the station underneath Schiphol airport. It is a quick, reliable and inexpensive way to get there. If you are staying in Amsterdam itself pre cruise, then the train leaves from Centraal Station. There are no baggage cars, no porters and you must lift your bags onto the train yourself. But it is inexpensive.
  7. We took the HAL shuttle to the airport. As we had a late afternoon flight we wanted to take a shuttle as late as possible but, pre-cruise, it had been booked out and not even an option of wait list. When we got onboard, the 9.30am shuttle became available again so we booked it and even though the details stated that it was not eligible for HIA excursion credit, it did consume some of our remaining excursion credit. The shuttle eventually departed at 10.00am as some pax did not realise that they had to collect their bags from the luggage hall and physically bring them to the bus. We already had electronic boarding passes so we were able to drop our bags at the Baggage Drop (KLM) which even offered to take our carryons if we wished (no charge!). Security was slow, but nothing like what we experience last year and then through passport control. 12.15pm and we were sitting in the KLM Crown Lounge. Our flight departed 4pm local time and we arrived into Cork 90 minutes later. Overall we enjoyed the cruise. The ship was in great condition, the music was great. The staff were exceptional as always.
  8. Menus Day 14 Friday 6th October lido_lunch_day_14 (1).pdf lido_dinner_day_14 (1).pdf mdr_dinner_day_14.docx.pdf
  9. Menus Day 12 Wednesday 4th October lido_lunch_day_11 (1).pdf lido_dinner_day_11.pdf mdr_dinner_day_11 (1).pdf
  10. It does seem to be up to individual countries even within the EU. Last cruise and Germany, Sweden, and Estonia required passports for non EU residents, whereas, Denmark, Finland and Latvia did not. All 6 countries are in EU.
  11. Ofcourse I am! I thought I made an error once, but I discovered that I was wrong. 😄
  12. If you have the option, then do switch. It is a much more pleasant dining experience.
  13. Sad, however I am even more disturbed by a French menu saying that beef could come from the UK. Perhaps they are old (pre brexit) menus.
  14. Post #170 has images of the food in PG. Crab Cakes were average, Scallops were a little gritty. Service was ok. I would not consider paying the upcharge for PG (even with 50% mariner discount) as it does not give value, in my opinion. Sometimes we don't even bother taking the 'free' meal with HIA.
  15. I believe that it will not make a difference to Canaletto and it is more to do with the sequence of 'Dressy' nights which will affect the running order of menus in MDR.
  16. We are 193 days (and a few hours and minutes) out from our next cruise and navigator is showing "Canadian Thanksgiving Dinner). So who knows how far out the menus will show! P.S. i was surprised at how seamlessly the app switched to the next cruise on completion of the last cruise.
  17. However HAL will sometimes throw the curved ball and use Menu Day 4 on Day 3 of a particular cruise. on our recent 14 day cruise it happened several times that Day 5 menu was presented on day 4 and Day 13 menu was presented on Day 12 etc
  18. Stateroom tv Casino bar Sometimes on Lido Pool screen (not at 2.15am though 😉)
