  1. Although the ship gave the departing pilot a couple of friendly departing blasts on the whistle, there was no response from the pilot boat.
  2. The sailaway was very scenic and peacefull Some derelict old commercial buildings, some green areas with trees and some derelict old buildings with green areas and trees included.
  3. Today was Riga, capital of Latvia. We docked almost in the city centre having sailed up the river this morning. It is just a short walk from the docking area to the Old Town/New Town or the Red Ho Ho bus was available. This time, true to form for HAL you could purchase a ticket at the HO Ho bus and pay in local currency. We took the bus (lot of non refundable OBC to use) to the Lutheran Cathedral and walked back. We had a short visit as all aboard was 2.30. Riga is a nice city and worth another visit. We may just check out flights to here for a couple of days visit.
  4. Sometimes you just got to laugh at the misprints! (clue - fish are not hard of hearing....😉)
  5. L'escargot served in Lido tonight. As many as you wished!
  6. Day 6 Thursday 28th September Today's Menus Blue Gala and Day 10 menus served on Day 6! lido_lunch_day_10.pdf lido_dinner_day_10.pdf mdr_gala_menu_blue_-_day_10_morimoto.pdf
  7. I have not tried the Morimoto fish dishes, but there are numerous fish dishes each meal time. Tonight there was fresh Baltic Swordfish (very nice) as well as salmon, herring etc. Sometimes looking at the food I think that a true carnivore may think that they are being ignored. 😉
  8. Rotterdam Deck 11, outside the roof of the megadome. Nada!
  9. Day 6 Thursday 28th September. Riga, Latvia Today's Daily Program
  10. Ok please send me $25 (+18% grat) and I will check for you and return any funds that I am not charged 😀
  11. More rock than mix. There does seem to be much more dancing in BBKings
  12. No. The grand piano sits forlornly in the corner. Unused and unloved.
  13. Also i have seen speedtest.net results for starlink and the results always mention starlink. As i have posted currently Rottrrdam is showing Equinix as the provider on speedtest.net
  14. That is what i was thinking but i will still have a look for the flat head antenna.
  15. Ok i will go up and have a look and see if those strange looking receptors are anywhere. It may be a day or two as, at the moment the fog horn is blaring and it is difficult to see anything.
  16. He has to toe the corporate line. Perhaps be was only reporting information that had been given to him.
  17. Day 5 Wednesday 27th September Today's menus. lido lunch day 5.pdf lido_dinner_day_5.pdf mdr_dinner_day_5.pdf
  18. Your comment on portion size is interesting. We continue to have problems with the staff serving us portions that are larger than we require. They do not seem to understand the words "small" or "just a little". It embarrasses and annoys us to leave so much food on plates that need not be there. However, we have heard complaints that are the polar opposites of us. Indeed we overheard a guy at one table complaining about the plates being too small!
  19. Thanks for your review. We are still wary of cruising on the smaller ships. We love the Pinnacle class even if we do not use all the facilities. It is nice to have them available. Even on Vista/Signature class the reduction of facilities is noticeable, also the general ambience and brightness of the ship. We only sailed a smaller ship once and that was Rotterdam vi to North Cape which was amazing, but in hindsight, they still had BBKing up in the Crow's Nest at night. That was a real club experience.
  20. Lots of movies to watch in the comfort of your stateroom if you are so inclined.
  21. Today at sea it is warm on the starboard side of the ship as the sun shines on us, but over on the port side it is significantly cooler. The difference in temperature was really noticeable when doing a couple of laps of the Promenade Deck pre lunch. Now with the ship's time at 16.20hrs (4.20pm) the fog horn is sounding and a mist has descended over us. Yesterday was an unexpected 22°C (google it!) and tomorrow is forecast to be an unseasonal 25°C (google it again!). The weather is great, however we brought clothing in expectation of the usual weather pattern, so I have a lot of long sleeve shirts, long sleeve vests, jumpers, sweaters, fleeces etc. What we need are T shirts, short sleeve polo shirts and similar. Luckily we found a Tommy Hiflinger store open yesterday in Warnemunde and were able to purchase a few items in the 70% off sale. The forecast for the weekend is back towards 14/15°C (you know what to do!) which is more seasonal.
  22. I am sure that some sites are blocked even on premium. Here is what HAL says about their plans...
