  1. I am truly sorry for the inconvenience you have gone through. I appreciate your post, it is helpful. When the CDC dropped the Covid measures, I was past final payment for a cruise, and opted to cancel with penalty (even though the requirements were dropped, Covid is still around, and quarantine measures still exist). Which cruise line is not important, my grain of salt is that the industry adjusted it’s requirements from a business standpoint. I will share my experience, I asked many questions before canceling. What I learned helped me in my decision. The cruise line has no responsibility once you are off the ship. Your insurance is key. I hope your wife feels better soon, and that the insurance claim will go smoothly.
  2. My travel agent reached out to NCL, it was confusing even for her. The amounts were confirmed by NCL, but they are not available as of yet. My travel agent recommends waiting for the FCC before booking another cruise. My vacation time is planned for September 5th, my fingers are crossed that it will show up sooner rather than later 😁.
  3. Thanks, you understood my odd question perfectly… I was looking for FCC that exists, it’s simply taking time to show up. The cancellation was a month ago. I received confirmation from the Platinum Insurance I purchased through NCL, but I can’t see it anywhere on MyNCL.
  4. Out of curiosity, how do you consult your FCC? I had to cancel a cruise but I have no clue on how to trace the FCC. Is it by email or in MyNCL? Thanks!
  5. You are doing a fabulous job, it’s quite appreciated! I’ve been looking into this type of itinerary. Discovering the ports through your posts has helped. And I was wondering about Covid on the cruise ships, I appreciate the fact that you are sharing it how it is, very rationally. As I was appreciative of the captain’s letter in the cabin. My favorite picture is in St. Anthony, where she’s right next to what I believe might be a puffin cut-out.
  6. I would like to thank you for your posts, I find them quite informative. I also love how your wife “pops up” in certain of the pictures.
  7. Great tip. Thank-you! I’ve been searching more about the Zaandam, I do believe HAL may be a better fit with my interests. If no Lanai cabins are available, I could be tempted by an inside cabin. The BBC Earth seems interesting. Thanks, Princerton123211!
  8. That is an excellent point also. I had to cancel a future cruise with NCL (it is no longer recommend for me to fly). I was disappointed, but better being cautious than sorry. I had planned using the future credits from the NCL platinum insurance for the Quebec - Boston - Quebec on the Pearl, but it might be too tight time wise to receive the refund. I am a short commute from the cruise port in Montreal… I can sometimes see the cruise ships from the window at my office. It could be interesting to try out the Zaandam. The balconies are sold out, hence my original question.
  9. Thank you! I have not fixed my choice yet, either Montreal - Boston - Montreal with HAL or Quebec - Boston - Quebec with NCL. In both cases, there will be river portions. I appreciate your reply.
  10. Hi! I am considering a New England B2B September cruise. I’m debating on the type of cabin to choose. The price difference between an inside and a balcony is considerable. A little bit about me - I’ve taken several cruises, solo traveler, and an introvert. What are the views like on a New England cruise? Would I be able to see lights from the shore from the ship? If so, I would definitely consider a balcony. Thanks for any insight, everyone!
  11. I am considering a B2B cruise. I have a 10% off coupon that expires September 30th. Here is my question… has anyone ever used this type of a coupon? Does it apply to one segment or both segments? Thanks for your info, I did a search but did not find much.
  12. @Always Cruising There are several departures on weekdays, it should help.
  13. I’m sorry to hear. I took a screen shot of the train schedule between YUL airport and Quebec train station, it’s a 5 minute drive between the Quebec train station and the Quebec port. Fingers crossed for you!
  14. I am following this post with interest, and indeed, I find the question valid. I am also in the minority group, hence I try to gather as much knowledge beforehand. I read the NCL guidelines, browsed the FAQs, indeed there are answers pertaining to pre-embarkation, but the answer to “if you test positive on the cruise ship” remained elusive. Here’s what I found on the FAQ’s: http://ncl-drupal6.ncl.com:9050/cruise-faq/what-are-isolation-quarantine-disembarkation-protocols-if-someone-were-test-positive-covid-19-wh
  15. I am so sorry to hear 🥺. That was not a fun experience.
  16. Hi there! You can also check this hotel, it’s near the airport. https://www.hotelsjaro.com/quebec-inn/en/
  17. I also discovered the problem through my TA. The insurance is often offered by a third party, not the cruise line. I was able to add the insurance package when booking online. My TA later told me that the said insurance package was not available for the province of Quebec. I had not read the fine print five links away 😉. My best advice, read the fine print before purchase, that was my responsibility… live and learn. At least I was able to change everything before the cruise took place.
  18. I’m curious. Would it be helpful to take a picture / video of events (example, a toilet that overflows with human offerings inside a cabin) to submit when bringing up the issue with management? And would it be against CC community guidelines to post these pictures here? Perhaps it is ignorance, but I am having a hard time with the concept of the post. If this question has been answered before, pardon the suggestion.
