  1. Fudge you state that they canceled an April 2nd 2024 cruise from Lisbon to Portugal? Did you accidentally miss the disembarked location? Or was it a round trip ? I ask because at first I thought it was the cruise we were on which was May 2 2024 Lisbon to Southampton 12 days , both itineraries starting on the 2nd of the month, wanted to make sure I didn’t miss something., I’m assuming that itinerary did not work as a good alternative for you. Sorry for your disappointment, good luck in your search for a replacement itinerary.
  2. We also were on Mayflowers Southampton to Southampton Dawn cruise and thoroughly enjoyed it. I did not realize that the heaters were broken, just assumed that they felt they were not needed at the times we ate there, but can understand that would be a serious problem when temps dipped below reasonable comfort levels. I loved that they had those retractable panels to block the wind on the sides. I thought the food was very good, the steaks were excellent ( after reading earlier negative reviews, I can only assume that the regional suppliers quality differed). My mom enjoyed the lamb chops, I thought the evening selections in the restaurants were sufficient, but would have to agree having more chicken options would have been preferred.I actually enjoy the selections on the room service menu.I really enjoyed Silver Note and the items I selected were delicious. the service and the staff were wonderful . I can not speak to the entertainment since we never went to the shows, but the jazz duo in Silver Note were very good as well as the piano player in Dolce Vita. I agree with Mayflower that the service in both Atlantide and SALT were challenged when there was a large influx of guests. Overall, I thought restaurant service was good to very good. the ship was lovely, accommodations were comfortable and clean, and think I’m going to stick with the newer Muse class ships going forward. I agree with Mayflower, at certain times I noticed I noticed that the water temperatures in the shower were difficult to regulate, also our shower doors were difficult to open easily. if anyone has questions, I’ll do my best to respond.
  3. Hey Cruizin we will be sailing this itinerary Lisbon to London next year. Are you on that cruise? I’d be interested to hear about your experience . Ports, excusions sea conditions, weather, if you are willing to share, Tia enjoy ! Will be boarding her in Southampton soon! Safe travels!
  4. Did SS cancel the Dublin on your own tour? We signed up for that and purchased tickets on our own for book of kells. However, since there are 4 of us we hired a driver to take us around. If you are docking in Dun Longhaire (sp?) there is a train that takes you into Dublin . enjoy!
  5. Thanks JSR , we already got a link from Silversea for this Scootaround company for wheelchair rentals. Southampton is on of the ports they deliver directly to the room. If you have other information for that port that would be great, but think we are ok . thanks again !
  6. JSR thanks so much for the info. We are doing northern Europe.
  7. Thanks JSR for your firsthand knowledge, experience and recommendations and everyone for your observations and concerns. JSR-you say they don’t allow scooters on excursions, I assumed they would stow it under the bus in the luggage section? I guess there is no storage under these buses? I assume your wheelchair collapses and is brought on board and is stored in the seat next to you? I agree leaving it out in the hallway is a potential safety hazard as well as inconsiderate to those who utilize wheelchairs or walkers who have to navigate around them . I’m shocked to hear there were that many on broker’s last cruise. I can imagine that was very inconvenient for not only passengers with disabilities , but also the crew. unfortunately we had not booked a handicapped room since it was not and still not needed. So finding a collapsible scooter or wheelchair may be our only option . I’ll see what this company offers for rentals. thanks again everyone
  8. To those that have either needed a wheelchair or scooter while on board and during excursions, I’m curious where you parked the scooter while sleeping, how you managed them on excursions or getting on and off ship. the reason I ask is my father (82) has been struggling with lack of stamina when walking more than 15 minutes without sitting down. (He has been slowing down the last few years, but he was able to get around without assistance) So far the doctors he has been able to see can’t find any specific cause or a treatment to alleviate the issue. We thought renting him a scooter for this cruise would give him some level of independence and comfort in knowing he could take tours and get around the ship on his own. I’m curious where people store their scooters. I feel like I have seen them outside rooms, but unsure. Welcome any advice or first hand experience especially getting on and off a ship and into tenders. I’m pretty sure the crew either carry the chair/scooter up and down the stairs and into tenders for you and I’ve seen some disabled folks getting special access while in port at the lower access area normally designated for loading guests into tenders or luggage/supplies thanks in advance
  9. Thanks Cruzin I just checked MySS and everything appears back to normal. Looks like they ticketed our air since I checked the document link and there is a downloadable file there. I’ll open it when I’m on my computer to print it out. If our flight that was booked through SS goes as scheduled, I’ll be quite satisfied with that aspect of the booking process . So the anchored ports appear to total at least 4 and include the 2 I mentioned earlier and Ullapool and Isle of Man , assuming the others are docked . Guess will see when we board. Safe travels to you!
  10. I agree, Im hoping it’s just a temporary glitch and we will end up docking there , but it does seem odd that’s the only stop that we are not reflected on their port schedule. I’m hoping we are not anchored there because this cruise has too many anchor ports already including major ports of call like Dublin ( anchoring at Dun loaghaire), Edinburgh (anchoring at Newhaven vs docking at Leith). I’m not a big fan of tender ports, it just makes it less convenient to go back into town to explore further…. Having to wait for the next tender and for others to embark/disembark. I do hope that the system is back up soon and our data has not been lost . I didn’t print our itinerary or restaurant reservations. (Hopefully my mom printed hers) We were not planning on doing formal nights so want to make sure our reservations at La Terraza are still intact. here’s hoping all goes as planned! This cruise will not be here soon enough for me!
  11. Cruzin - glad to see others are also on this cruise si I went directly to the webpage for the port and you can get there using this webpage as well https://www.whatsinport.com/ and you select the country you are traveling to and it will provide you the links to the ports website page with the cruise ship schedule( if there are any, some of them default to a 3rd party site like cruisemapper which I’m not sure how often it’s updated/maintained) https://www.whatsinport.com/Cobh-Cork.htm as of yesterday, there was nothing scheduled between May 17 to mid June https://www.portofcork.ie/cruise-schedule-2023/. However, now there are scheduled cruises almost every day, but our ship is not one of them. There is a Norwegian Dawn for the 22nd of May, but not a Silversea Dawn and there is nothing scheduled for May 20th which is the day we are due to arrive. Let me know if you see the same thing using these links I’ve provided.
  12. out of curiosity……..So I was checking our upcoming ports to verify whether they were anchored or docked and found that only one port did not show the Dawn on their port schedule ( cruise is scheduled to be in Cobh in less than 60 days) . What’s interesting is that it looks like the Cobh cruise port has no cruises scheduled to dock between May 17 to mid June. Seems like something is happening at this port during that period. Curious if anyone else has ever experienced a similar situation and should I assume with 2 months to go, most likely we aren’t stopping in Cobh? I guess I’ll wait for SS to confirm one way or the other.
  13. Thanks Lois looking forward to see what they offer. Frankly looking forward to simply getting on the ship ! 😊
  14. Thanks Lois . I figured as much , but was wondering how many options they offered. Is it just one meal option per evening? I’m curious what variety of offerings they would have on a circumnavigational cruise of UK/Ireland. I guess we will find out soon enough! Thanks ggo85 for the info. Nice to know they have some nice specials in Atlantide, including chicken dishes. My mom prefers chicken, but during our last 2 SS cruises , chicken dishes were very limited. enjoy!
  15. Thank you so much ggo85 for sharing your day to day TA cruise experience with all of us. Glad you are enjoying it. Since you asked , If you are willing to share pictures of the menus especially in the SALT , Atlantide restaurants and possibly Silver note. I’m curious of the offerings especially since I’ve only been on the Muse and the older Shadow and Whisper ships and they did not have SALT nor Silver Note. We will be traveling on the Dawn in a couple of months and assumed menus would be similar to the Moon. Please don’t feel obligated, just thought I’d ask. again thanks for posting, wish you safe transit and relaxing time on board. . Enjoy!
  16. Thanks Lois and CruiseeJ right now my airline booking still says confirmed, I’ll just wait to roughly 30 days out.
  17. Just wondering when folks (who book their air with SS) received their airline ticket confirmation? . We are less than 60 days out and my SS agent said I would see the air ticket with rest of documents by 30 days out. However, I’m hearing some people saying they had not received SS documents sometimes 2 weeks out, and since I don’t know if that included airline tickets or not, just wondering what others have experienced. thanks in advance
  18. Vmax we just booked a driver and van to take us around Dublin for the day since my dad can’t walk long distances. Can hired vehicles not get closer to the port or is it just unreserved taxis that have to line up the hill from the Dart station? I’m hoping our driver can pick us up closer to the terminal where we don’t have to walk a distance to meet him. do you or anyone else have any experience you can share about how long the avg tender process takes, how far away ships have to anchor in relation to this port . Just wondering .based on the cruise schedule looks like our ship is the only 1 in port that day Thanks in advance

    Formal night

I know I prefer to know ahead of time when the formal nights are because we don’t always participate, so not knowing when they will occur leaves us booking many nights in La Terraza to make sure we at least have an indoor venue to go to if they schedule a formal night that evening . I don’t like tying up reservation space at La Terraza , unnecessarily. I’m certainly not going to La Terraza every night and the Grill is only good when the outdoor temperatures are moderate or there is no inclement weather. I try to guess when the formal nights will be so I don’t have to book too many nights (2nd night and 2nd to last night or a sometimes a day at sea ) however, this upcoming cruise I guessed the wrong dates, but luckily was able to make the changes and add La Terraza on those formal nights and reschedule the other nights for silver note and the grill. in the end it worked out, but based on some of the earlier examples sometimes people are disappointed. I m in the camp of having the notice long before boarding , not after.
  20. Nice seeing references to the Eagles here (my team!)and that 2 former Eagles coaches may be challenging one another next week is pretty exciting (Doug Petersen and Andy Reid) …of course I’m hoping that the Eagles current coach is the one that wins it all 😊It’s great they were able to broadcast the games for you Lois while at sea. Thanks as always for sharing your experience with all of us! I will be boarding her in May. Can’t come soon enough! liz
  21. Thanks everyone. I have not booked yet, but since I had only booked the concierge level in the past and knew I could book earlier than the lower level rooms, I did not remember what the restaurant reservation limitations were. Thanks 1985 for the detail
  22. That picture made me giggle! Just a question, it’s been years since we have been on an Oceania cruise, but wanted to know if you book a ocean view room, are you not able to make reservations at the specialty restaurants until you board? And If so are there spaces available to make at least 2 reservations per restaurant ( toscana and polo since we are looking at the insignia) . We used to book the concierge level balcony , but i don’t really want to pay for a balcony, but at same time I want to make sure we can get at least 3-4 dinners (11 day cruise) in a specialty rest. thanks in advance
  23. Omg that’s it? All the other ships had 3 washers and 3 dryers in each laundry room. This will not be fun
