  1. Thanks for writing about this cruise. We did it last year and have it booked again for next year!
  2. Sure…there might be a few, just like those that might have been on a land vacation pre cruise. I am talking about the braggers who just feel it was a perk, so they want to get everything they can out of it.
  3. You would leave it to do yourself at home, not send it out onboard at the end of the cruise. I do understand many long voyages where it makes sense to send it out midway, or something. At the end, just so you don’t have to do it when you get home seems unfair.
  4. Haha… I’m guessing most people don’t care that much.
  5. I have found it interesting to read about the free laundry. People actually send it out towards the end of their cruise, so they go home with all clean laundry. I don’t think that was the original intent of the perk. Sometimes…we have created our own problems.
  6. It doesn’t sound grumbly at all. It sounds honest. When we board the Crown next week, I will have my eyes wide open because of your review. I do understand things don’t always go well, but I do reserve my 10’s for only the best. I feel bad for the crew having to wear those silly hats, too. Edited to add that seems that it’s looking like those hats are something you might see on a Carnival cruise. I’ve seen more pictures in the last couple of months with people showing off their towel animals, too. I think over the 17 years we’ve cruised with Princess, we had one, and it was our 25th Anniversary. I don’t love them, and would rather the crew get those extra few minutes off just to relax or do something they enjoy..like a nap.
  7. I’m also Canadian, and I won’t be booking with any packages either. I can’t imagine spending that kind of money for 7 days. I try to think like I was at home. Would I be willing to spend that much on having coffee out somewhere? I have no problem paying for my morning coffee at the IC. It’s pretty good and only a couple of dollars, or so. I am with you on all those sugary drinks, too. But, everyone has a different idea of vacation and I think that it is great there are options for us to choose, or not to. I haven’t bothered with the math of what that would cost for the 22 days we’ll be on board for, but I’m sure it’s a no from me. It would be a ridiculous amount. I’ll pay my gratuities and maybe get the internet. But… I’m thinking of going cold turkey for that, too. I can just catch up with all the social media sites when I get home. Thanks for calling Princess to get the newest information.
  8. Not TMI… I lost my mom awhile ago so it fun to read. I’d get the wifi, for peace of mind. That’s so great your mom can figure out all of the technology.
  9. That is so fantastic. Congratulations on your savings.
  10. Well… they don’t have Pepsi onboard, only a few Coke products. You can certainly bring on a case, if you like. Getting the wifi at half price, would seal the deal for me, not to get the Plus or Premium package. You could always just use WIFI on port days to catch up on things, if you decided to pass on that, too. Paying the gratuities before you board, if you don’t have any OBC, will make it easier to have a small folio at the end. I hope that helps.
  11. Yes, and you had to either “act dumb”, be included with the group that complained at a private event, or mention it to to a rep. I do not understand why Princess is just waiting for people to complain, I guess they figure only a small percentage will and they are probably right. It not my style, so I’ll just be happy with whatever it is. Maybe it will someday be an option on the app. People could just choose between the mini bar or OBC.
  12. I don’t think OBC is a worthless perk and it is not being offered. From what I have read, there has only been one person who did get 50.00 after going to GS. As I said, the fancy drinks are up to 5.00 and I should have added that those are really the ones we drink. We also enjoyed the free fresh brewed. The attachment is current and I am assuming to be correct. I couldn’t find a picture of it, but I’ll find out myself in a couple of weeks. I am not about to go to GS, I will just be happy with whatever happens. Maybe I’ll even take up drinking.. just to get my perk! 😗
  13. I fully understood it was an invitation to a luncheon that you had earned. I hope you enjoyed the drinks!
  14. Well… the basic difference is each fancy coffee is about 5.00 - at least the fun blended ones are. So, more like 75.00 x 2 people is 150.00( at most) plus however many free fresh brewed you wanted, before people didn’t have to pay it, they just traded the mini bar, now they do. It irks just me like getting the internet at 50% off, instead of what I got for free, which was more than enough for us. We feel the water onboard is good enough to drink, we don’t usually drink alcohol and only a purchase few cans of soda over 2 weeks, so now I really just have another worthless perk.
  15. Oh no…you need them to rebook those flights, unless you agreed to it.
  16. This is what I see, in Canada right now. I guess maybe they had a casino rate or something.
  17. There was a promotion a little while ago that included one night of specialty dining. I think that’s how it ended up to be hard to get a reservation, though.
  18. Thanks so much. I’m not a lay around the pool in a bathing suit kind of person, but was hoping to go for a dip in the water at each island. I definitely have packed a couple of sweaters, a pashmina, 2 pairs of pants, 2-long sleeve tops, a hoodie and a wind breaker jacket. I do know it can be chilly in the MDR and the theatre.
  19. I see the weather changing, In general..would you say you wore more pants and tops with sleeves than tshirts and shorts on this cruise? I am starting to pack now for our Hawaii cruise, but I’m realizing it isn’t the sunny, warm vacation I thought it was going to be. Like, we usually cruise the Caribbean, which means get up in the morning, throw on shorts, get your bathing suit packed and head to the beach. I didn’t notice in any of your posts that anyone was actually swimming in the waters, anywhere.
  20. Oh…I guess the colour will be different based on loyalty level.
  21. What a great cruise that will be! I do hope they allow you to purchase them on their behalf. My fingers are crossed for you… Please come back and update your post with the results.
  22. I really think that’s a hit or miss thing with being able to buy them for others not on the ship. Perhaps the Future cruise crew member gets credit of some sort or a commission, if they accept them. I was able to purchase for my spouse using just my phone, for both of us. When was the last time you purchased for others, not on board?
  23. I’m sorry, I did understand that. What I meant was that when you board you can buy it straight on the app. My apologies if I was not clear. It saves going to the Future Cruise desk as soon as you board. Which will be important since you are just catching it under the old rule. As an aside… My PVP formally updated her social media page to let us know that the change does start on April 5th. It’s sure not much notice… of such a big change.
